Around Azeroth Beta Edition: 99 luftballons
After a recent discussion with my coworkers, we came to the conclusion that there are three occasions in which it is acceptable for an adult to cry in a public movie theater: Brian's Song, any scene where a dog dies, and the first 15 minutes of Up. Blizzard seems to have paid tribute to the latter movie with this balloon-encrusted house from the Mists of Pandaria beta, discovered in the Jade Forest by eagle-eyed beta tester Miacoda of Legacy of the Illuminati on Argent Dawn (US-A). The inclusion of paper lanterns among the balloon clusters threatens to make the Azerothian Up even more tragic than the original.

I'm a grown man who doesn't consider himself particularly sappy, but I cried like a baby during the first 15 minutes of Up.
/sniff

If you don't get at least a little sniffly at the beginning of Up, then you are most likely a robot. Please stay where you are, Rick Deckard will be along shortly.

Ha! My husband and I have said the same thing about Up. The beginning of the latest Star Trek movie has a similar reputation.

Dude, Toy Story 3, when they're all sliding towards the fire, and Buzz holds out his hand to Jessie, and they all hold hands, and there's Woody, the leader, in front, eyes open to the impending doom.
Damn, I'm a 47 year old Marine Corps vet and that scene still gets me.
On the side subject of when it's okay for a man to cry to a TV show; the Christmas episode of West Wing's first season, when the homeless Marine vet is buried at Arlington with full military honors while the boys choir sings Little Drummer Boy in the White House. Just thinking of it chokes me up. Semper Fi brothers.

I'm sniffling now. Thanks for the emotional sneak attack.
Stories like that clear your emotional arteries, if you let them, and encourage you to focus on what's really important. Excuse me, I must go call my husband now.

I've never cried at a film, but the first 15 minutes of UP were the closest i've ever come.

I wept like a baby at the beginning of Up. Doesn't help that my better half is also named Elli...

"My friends, you bow to no one" also acceptable for shedding a manly tear.

I won't watch UP again. I cry too much :( The last scene in Toy Story 3 really gets me too, when Andy passes on the toys. Waah!

I was a watery mess at the end of Toy Story 3. Good thing movie theaters are dark.

I did get sniffy during the beginning of Up, but the only time I have ever cried during a movie where a few select scenes in the Hunger Games.
Namely a certain small tribute dying and Katniss vouching for her sister at the reaping.

Seems like I need to watch Up. But there's one instance you forgot, and that's listening to this song:
