Breakfast Topic: What's your favorite pet?

When the Argent Tournament appeared, I got excited at the pets each faction offered. For Alliance, I had access to both the Teldrassil Sproutling and the Dun Morogh Cub. While my warlock jousted eternally for a Crusader title, my druid was content to just snag the sproutling and the cub. Whenever she out being a bear, she'd have the sproutling out; whenever she was throwing heals, she'd have the cub running by her side.
Now that I have a second druid to cover the caster specs, my bear druid is a full-time feral. The cub doesn't come out to play anymore, but the Teldrassil Sproutling dances and sleeps just about anywhere.
On my lowbie Horde toons, I always get a Horde Balloon. There's always a Celestial Dragon by my guild's bear tank when she runs in for the pull. My caster druid has the mechanical bunny out, since she's an engineer who loves cute animals like Mylune. One of our moonkin hopes that non-combat pets will be nameable in Mists so he can name his always-present Moonkin Hatchling after his daughter. D'awwww!
With Pet Battles coming out, there will always be people hunting for the next best performing pet. But do you have any pets you're already partial to on certain characters for other reasons?

Egbert is my favorite pet (that I own)! I only use him on my mage. He is fairly uncommon too, even though he is readily available every year :p Creepy you say? Hmm. Egbert thinks you are creepy! What do you think about that? :XD

You're right, a lot of people don't realize that Adderal and the like are stimulants (which is why college students take them before big exams). I was just trying to make a crappy metaphor.
His eyes are rather big and bulgy, but so are mine in real life, so we're kindred spirits.

Disgusting Oozeling is my favorite.
I also like the Giant Sewer Rat, especially when I feed him a pet biscuit that brings him up to hunter pet size.

sen'jin fetish is my troll shamans best friend. It's just a small floating voodoo mask so it's not as flashy as other pets out there. It plays a cool tribal beat when you summon it (there was a bug for a while where it wouldn't stop playing) the mask changes to a different one every time and it blends in well with the troll totems. A troll couldn't ask for a better pet! By the time mists comes out I hope to have a full voodoo themed team for pet battles.

I love my Feline Familiar.
Ever since I got my first flying mount on my first character to be high enough level to obtain such, I thought "If only I had a kitty pet who could follow me while I'm flying, he'd be my favorite companion forever!"
Enter the adorable Feline Familiar. True to my word, he's been out nonstop ever since Hallow's End. The main thing that attracted me was, as I mentioned, the fact that he's a cat who can fly, but that fact that his *method* of flight is a teeny-tiny broom (as opposed to boring ol' wings or magical hovering or what-have-you) is just an awesome bonus!

I don't really get pets, and certainly don't go out of my way to pick them up... with one exception. Before I'd even started playing WoW, I knew there was one pet I would have to get if I ever started playing, as it was not only a reference to the greatest show ever, but a reference to one of the greatest -lines- in the greatest show ever: Firefly, and "We're still flying", respectively. Indeed, when I started playing, I grinded the crap out of those fireflies in Zangermarsh for hours, which is the sort of thing I rarely do, but it was worth it. The Firefly pet generally sold for about a thousand gold at the time, which was a fairly substantial amount of gold in BC, especially if you were new, but I used it anyway.
Then I switched to a new main in Cataclysm... and had to grind for another one. Still worth it. Doubly worth it, even: not only was it a Firefly reference, but I was also a fire mage with the title "Flame Warden", and now, through the magic of transmog, wearing fire on my head and fire on my shoulders. So a firefly would be a sensical pet to have.
I'm still sad they lost the "still flying..." tooltip when pets stopped being cast from your bag, though.

Mojo! I get my Mojo out whenever I can, and if I'm on an alt that hasn't yet found its Mojo I will mess with your Mojo!
If I ask you to "kiss my frog" I'm only trying to show you the light and help you get your Mojo, I promise not to give you warts.

Netherwhelp.
It really annoys me that Blizzard decided to make all flying pets fly around your head, instead of around your legs like before. So now when you have a flying pet out, and you aren't zoomed all the way out, they get in the way and you keep clicking on them when trying to click something near you.

I don't have a single favourite as such, but I do prefer the ground-based pets rather than the flying ones. Withers is pretty cool and the crocolisk pets are very cute.

I'm fond of my Alliance Argent Tournament pets (I'm Horde) - I camped the neutral AH for weeks until I see them on sale for cheaper than usual (usually, they go for over a thousand gold each, though I managed to snatch each racial one up for roughly 500 to 600 gold each) - though I would say that my absolute favorite is the Elywnn Lamb.
The reasoning is three-fold. Firstly, it cracks me up every time to see it mindlessly wandering around, munching grass and flowers, before a wolf shows up out of nowhere and kills it. Secondly, thanks to my curly hair, my parents have nicknamed me "Sheep" and "Lamb" ever since I was a baby. Thirdly, my name, Talitha, means "Little Girl," but it also means "Little Lamb."
So, even though I have 135 pets (Pebble is next), and I don't often summon them, the Elywnn Lamb is my favorite. :)

Wow, only 500-600G for opposite faction Argent Tourney pets? Was that when AT was current content? I wish they had been that cheap on my server!
Even when the Tourney was relatively current content they were always several thousand gold, now they tend to get posted as high as 6k.

I want those pets so bad, but I am horrible at jousting. Like....incredibly so....
Rikansolusar Apr 4th 2012 11:12AM
All of my toons rock the Horde Balloon. My druid main has 154 pets, but he's always got the balloon by his side (unless I'm having a 'my pet collection is cooler than yours' battle with guildies). I especially enjoy how the balloon sticks with all of his shapeshift forms, even if it does hover about five feet below him while in bird form.
It started off as an easy raid marker for healers to keep track of the only (at the time) melee dps during the first tier of Cata raiding because our then raid leader had a rule about only tanks and healers getting real raid markers.
The only toon who occasionally changes it up is my hunter, when I feel like having a trio of a certain animal (Venomhide Ravasaur/Black Worg mount, hunter pet, and companion pet).

I love my enchanted broom, especially for the ambient sounds it makes. Sweep... sweep...sweep kinda like water torture but fun.

Way back after Vanilla launched, I learned you could get a red whelp from dragonkin in the Wetlands. This was before there were many flight paths, I didn't have a mount and my shaman had just made it I into the 20s, but I simply HAD to have that little guy.
2 days later after farming a cumulative total of about 5 hours, and gaining 2 levels, he dropped! I was so ecstatic and he has been my constant companion over these past 7+ years. It was one of the best days in the game when they made pets capable of flying alongside you andI even got exalted with Wyrmrest so that I could get a larger version of him to ride!
He's been with me through Molten Core, and the Burning Crusade. He was with me when we invaded Icecrown, and was there when i helped strike the killing blow to Deathwing. No other pet could ever replace my whelpling.

I love my Tol Barad fox kit. It took over 2000 kils to get it to drop, but well worth it. He dances and plays..like a combo of a kitten and a puppy.
