The Queue: Attack of the Killer Tomatoes
Yep. It's another Awesome '90s Cartoon day. Enjoy.
John asked:
I am looking forward to the release of Mists of Pandaria. Especially the new Pandaren race. As far as new races being a potential new addition, do you think they will introduce any new races in future expansions or do you think this is probably it? I don't realistically see naga or murlocs being playable races. Something I thought would be pretty neat would be a character that could go from humanoid form to dragon. Like humans transform to worgen. Perhaps even a dragon in a humanoid form maybe. Just thoughts.
I'm sure Blizzard will add more races to the game eventually. When? Who knows. Personally, I think it's futile to try and guess what those races may be based on what's in the game right now -- Blizzard can add pretty much whatever it wants, whenever it wants.
What I'd like to see is some race of plant people. I don't know why. I have a bizarre fascination with plant-y races in fiction, be it myconids from Dungeons & Dragons, sporeloks from The Burning Crusade, or Guild Wars 2's sylvari. Plant people, please!
recneps1337 asked:
do you know what the new profession level is called like now how its illustrious_____?
In Mists of Pandaria, trade skills will increase to level 600 to a new level called Zen Master.
Dural asked:
Does WoW Insider plan to do another round of "[Insert Spec Here] 101" articles after MoP's release to catch everyone up on class changes and updates?
Yeah, absolutely. Talents and skills will be changing enough in Mists of Pandaria that a new round of leveling/101 guides makes sense to us.
Allenok asked:
What are the best heirloom weapons to get for each Monk spec?
If you want to level as a healer, use the Dignified Headmaster's Charge.
Updated: Sorry, my mistake. Monks cannot use 2-handed maces.
nicko666 asked:
Is there any news on a monk column/columnist for WoW Insider?
We haven't fully decided what we're doing about a monk column/columnist. We may try a completely different method of monk coverage and not have a dedicated monk column at all.
It's open warfare between Alliance and Horde in Mists of Pandaria, World of Warcraft's next expansion. Jump into five new levels with new talents and class mechanics, try the new monk class, and create a pandaren character to ally with either Horde or Alliance. Look for expansion basics in our Mists FAQ, or dig into our spring press event coverage for more details!Filed under: Analysis / Opinion, The Queue, Mists of Pandaria

I hope not. Quilboar annoy me. Furbolg aren't too bad but what I'd really like to see are (I forget the name, but the look like sentient wolverines and there are some in the Darkmoon Faire "petting zoo")
Gossamer Apr 4th 2012 11:35AM
The Wolvar! Yeah, I would like to see those as well. Silly puppymen.
Imnick Apr 4th 2012 11:36AM
Are there even any non-evil quillboars in game?
Gossamer Apr 4th 2012 11:46AM
I don't know about in game, but I do know they worship Agamaggan, one of the Ancients. It seems to me like there's enough lore to support a (probably previously unknown) faction of them joining up.
Nathanyel Apr 4th 2012 11:56AM
Nope, no friendly Quilboar at all. Even that prisoner at Vanilla Camp Taurajo was merely using us to get revenge on his former peers.
Similar with Centaur - the Desolace clans unite and ally with the Cenarion Circle, making them neutral, if that alliance holds at all, the Vanilla Gelkis&Magram rep grinds were apparently removed from lore, and all other centaur clans are still hostile.
Wolvar would be an excellent Horde race, while Alliance gets Furbolgs. Though with Pandaren in MoP and Worgen in Cata, Blizzard might hold off more "furry" races for later.

I would suggest the Venerable Mass of McGowan (http://www.wowhead.com/item=48716) with the ever-op Crusader enchant. Can DPS monks dual-wield? I haven't made it into the beta rounds yet.
evoxpisces Apr 4th 2012 11:22AM
I was just about to ask this myself. I'd like to know as well! One would think they could, I mean it would be silly to only have 1 fist weapon equipped. But I haven't heard anything regarding this.
Matt Apr 4th 2012 11:36AM
All Monks can dual wield.
Massa Apr 4th 2012 11:53AM
@ evoxpisces
Druids can only weild fist-weapons in their main hand (why, I have no idea). It's annoying, I'd love to have them transmogged on my moonkin (course I use a staff instead).
I got both http://www.wowhead.com/item=28392 and http://www.wowhead.com/item=28315 when doing the outland heroic achievement. Can only equip the first one even when walking around the city.
Stupid no swords rule too... (Sorry venting a little.)

I sent my monk 2 of the heirloom agility maces I originally bought to level my shammy. They seem to be doing ok. However, Im no theory crafter and Im not gonna test stuff, considering they have yet to make damage and balancing passes on the beta. And it's not like they would balance it around my level 13 anyway :p I am anxious for things to be set in stone a bit more so I can decide if making a monk, once it goes live, will be something I'm interested in.
Ronin Apr 4th 2012 11:32AM
They're also not going to balance it around heirlooms... ;)
jallan8210 Apr 4th 2012 11:14AM
It turns out actually that there has been an agility staff datamined on wowhead (or possibly mmo-champion) that is intended for monk tanking (and presumably guardian tanking)

Here's the burning hot question leading into the Mists expansion:
Will there be a Gnome Monk in the cinematic????
Anyone wanna start taking the odds on that one?
Bril Apr 4th 2012 11:34AM
Slim and none, and Slim just left. But I'd love to see it.
Ronin Apr 4th 2012 11:35AM
Sadly, Blizz sees Gnomes as little more than joke-fodder. So while seeing a Gnomish Monk in the cinematic would be awesome, I don't see it happening. But I would love to see them decide it's time to change their ways, and prove me wrong!
razion Apr 4th 2012 11:40AM
Gnome monks have been in every cinematic to date, what are you talking about? They've just been below the shot of the camera, that's all...
... But on a more serious note - no, I do not expect to ever see a gnome in an actual story-tied-in cinematic anytime soon. Or rather, I expect that if we -do- see a gnome in a cinematic, it will be as yet again another punching-bag or height gag. In any case what I would expect least is for a gnome to actually get a part that is anywhere close to serious (extra points if the gnome gets a serious line without at any poing being while not being injured, blown-up, or otherwise mocked and/or ridiculed).
That is, of course, meant to imply that I would very much look forward to being surprised on this front. But I would be lying if I said, "actually, yes, I expect gnomes to get a cinematic soon, it does seem like their time to shine!"
slim1256 Apr 4th 2012 11:41AM
No, no.
I'm still here.
StClair Apr 4th 2012 11:57AM
Now I really want to see a gnome monk in the vein of prequel Yoda, short green buzzsaw of death.
slim1256 Apr 4th 2012 11:17AM
So - saw that right now enchanters have baked in the ability to upgrade enchanting materials (dusts to essences, essences to shards, shards to crystals). What do you think? Good idea / bad idea?
Personally, I like it, as it would normalize the value across all of the mats to some extent.
That said - it appears they're sticking with the "Red gems are for base stats" model for jewelcrafters. How could they identify the issue and correct it for enchanting, while completely missing the boat on the gem cuts (that is, if they made Red the STR gem, Blue the INT gem, and Yellow the AGI gem, or some permutation thereof, it would have normalized the value of gems types, as well as preventing some of the supply/demand disparities we've seen).
Also - likelihood that this all stays in as-is?
TimR Apr 4th 2012 11:31AM
Changing the primary stats to three different colors would eliminate a lot of potential Primary/Secondary combo gems. The better solution, and one they might implement, is to increase the amount of secondary stats in relation to primary stats. So if a red gem gives 40 Int, a yellow would give 60-80 Haste, for example.
The other possibility is to decrease the value of primary stats in relation to secondary stats. I don't think this is likely in the immediate future due to requiring a lot of new balancing. It would be much easier to just adjust the secondary gems.
Spirit is likely going to be much more valuable to healers in MoP, so that should increase the value of Blue/Purple gems at least.
