Man, thanks so much to everyone who came out to the WoW Insider Show Live! at PAX East yesterday! We had a wonderful turnout, gave out a ton of prizes, and got to hang out with our amazing fans. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
(Editor's Note: The podcast recording will be up at 3:00 p.m. EDT.)
cjadams27 asked:
With the NDA lifted, how much information are we allowed to make public with regard to the new zones and abilities in the Beta? I didn't see anything about it in the terms of use, and I just want to make sure I don't make anything public and get in trouble with Blizzard. Thanks
There's no NDA at all, so you can discuss or post about whatever you want from the beta.
amaxe asked:
I was thinking of coming back to WoW again and i was wondering if there was any updated news on expanding the number of character slots. I'd like to try Horde again and I'd like to try the Monk, but not if they have to be on a different server.
Any info out there?
Yep, you get another character slot when you upgrade to Mists, for a total of 11.
hoschm12561 asked:
We're getting a lot of First Look posts from the writers about the different classes and specs but does Wow Insider have anyone that's going to be doing a first look at the Monk? I know it's going to change a lot between now and release but would be interesting to have someone documented how things are going. I'm really curious about how a monk should be played since I've been trying to work on one myself.
Monks still feel incomplete, so when they get a few more design iterations under their black belt, we'll definitely post about how they play.
NicoSinatraGrindley asked:
Nice to see it was not all BETA questions today, My question as follows. If for some reason you gain a Perma ban, Can you transfer any characters from that account and play on another account ? or is the said account locked down including the services ?
When an account is banned, you can't access services for it. It's effectively dead to you.
JayLaudick asked:
Do you know if being banned from the forums would mean that you wouldn't get into the beta since the only way to report bugs is through the forums?
Historically, getting a forum ban has no bearing on your play account, but I don't know how forum bans relate to beta access.
sonozakitwins asked:
To those who are playing around with Monks, I remember reading somewhere that the types of weapons they use (swords, staves, fist weapons, etc) were supposed to be more of a flavor thing than a damage thing (Item levels being equal and all, of course). Does it seem like that's how it's working out, or does it look like certain weapon types are going to trump others?
Really, I just want to stick with fist weapons as much as I can, and I'm hoping there will be at least one easily obtainable one for transmog that is as low-key as possible (fist wraps as a "weapon" would be awesome, although I dunno how much that might clash with gloves) so that I can go for a "barefisted" look. I'm just hoping that by doing so I won't be shooting myself in the foot damage-wise.
For windwalkers, I don't foresee any difficulties using fist weapons instead of swords or maces. If you want to heal or tank, though, you're expected to use the "iconic" weapons (maces/staves for healing and staves/polearms for tanking, respectively).
Keithcblack asked:
Are dragon turtle mounts in the beta right now? I dont remember seeing models out for them at the moment.
They're in the files but not available to ride or buy yet.
Ohio Swanson asked:
Not really a Wow question, but if I download Diablo 3 from the Annual pass, and then buy the Collecters editiopn, could I just type in the CD code and start playing with the collectors edition? Or do I have to download it again?
You just enter the CE key into your account and you can play right away with your CE perks. You'll also get a four-month credit to your annual pass.
Knobrum asked:
Do the new Scholomance and Scarlet Monastery take place during the Cataclysm timeline or during the post-Pandaria discovery timeilne?
They take place in the MoP time line but aren't really relevant to the story.
KaidaElraine asked:
Why is it exactly that a lot of the larger shoulder armor models don't seem to be actually touching the character? They'd look more reasonably sized if they weren't floating off by themselves...
A lot of it is to prevent clipping as much as possible when the models animate. Especially for bigger shoulders, clipping can be a real problem in animations. I'd agree that the draenei male shoulder placement is particularly egregious, though.
