First, the spell design for all classes isn't really getting entirely overhauled. Some classes more than others (like warlocks) are getting a large amount of spell changes. So keep in mind that overall things are different than on a granular level.
Second, the reason that this has to happen to some extent is that spells and talents have became very intertwined in the last eight years, to the point that it's taking major changes (in some cases) to unravel them. What we're seeing a lot of here too is changes like "Heroic Shadowbolt of Awesome does 5% more damage," which counters the effect of the removal of the talent "Shadowbolt Talent of Boring," which at the end of the day increased DPS by 5%.
Finally, remember that these kinds of changes are normal and a natural part of a game this old. Blizzard wants to keep things moving forward and different, giving you a reason to try out other classes and play alts. This is how that happens.

Once your friend is billed for the first month of play time, you'll see the mount option on your Battle.net account (under Claim Rewards, if I recall correctly). He has to be billed for that first month, however.

With account wide mounts coming in MoP (fingers crossed) how would this work with faction pacific mounts? would I be able to lvl up a ailly toon and have it rocking one of my horde mounts?
They're only usable on the west coast.
But no, don't expect to be able to use them cross-faction like that. And there's no indication that mounts will be usable in any way other than through account-wide achievements ... and really, this is a big gray area right now that we don't know a lot about. But don't expect to get the world.

Do you think our DPS will get high enough that we'll be able to kill Mannoroth in the Well of Eternity heroic in MoP? And if that happens, will the world implode?
That'd actually be a fun achievement for them to add. But in actuality, I agree with the commenters that he'd probably just sit at 1 health like most event bosses tend to.
