The Queue: Discussion Queue

Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Mathew McCurley (@gomatgo) will be your host today.
Today's Queue is more discussion-oriented than question-oriented. I pulled some comments that I thought could use some fleshing out or attention, so here they are. Blame Alex, like everyone else around here does.

The only reason I would like to actually have flying while leveling in Pandaria is so I don't get knocked off of my mount every 5 seconds by a mob of angry, well, mobs. It's very frustrating having to fight through them just so i can complete a quest objective. I think people may enjoy being on the ground more if mobs weren't able to do this.
That's exactly the point of restricting flight during the leveling experience in Mists of Pandaria. They want you to have to run through those packs of mobs to get to your quest objective, since the combat system and on-the-ground fight mechanics make up a majority of the game's content, focus, and balance.
Combat in World of Warcraft is essential to the game. Crafting experiences where you do mini-dungeon crawls through camps of mobs to get to a cool quest objective is the entire point of the game. Flying from point A to point B over the mobs' heads and effortlessly completing quests was seen by Blizzard's designers as one of the failings of the Cataclysm model.
There was a reason people cheered when Blizzard announced no flying until 90 during the BlizzCon presentation.

I'm also one of the few people really excited for pet battles. For one I love monster raising RPGs (Pokemon, DW Monsters, Monster Rancher, Digimon World, Shin Megami Tensei... love them all)... and I love that it's looking like a system that can be fairly involved, but quick to jump in an do any time and has nothing to do with character progression, no pressure, just screw around raising your pets and battling.
I don't think there are a "few" people anticipating the Pet Battle System. I think the demand for the new system is going to blow everyone's expectations out of the water so much so that you'll see new products revolving around the Pet Battle System specifically.

Why do the female characters have so many more options than males? I noticed this when I went to try out the Worgen, and the females have about twice as many fur/skin colors (and not even the one color the male had I wanted as a female, white) Faces and hair colors are another problem with most races too. I suddenly feel like WoW is very much lacking in the character customization department.
I think that it might be because of the false assumption that the type of player who chooses a female character also expects and appreciates more options. Also I think that there are just fewer options that you can stick on male characters. It's not a correct assumption on my part, but it seems like male characters tend to look more similar to each other faster than female characters.
The limitations intrinsic to the WoW engine also limit what can and can't be done with expression, textures, and styles that all go into creating a dynamic character that has to move and be expressive while still having inter-Changable parts that move correctly when paired with any number of other interchangeable parts. It might just be easier to add more static things for female characters in WoW than males.
I'll end this the only way that I know how -- more customization is always good when it comes to character design.

Q4TQ: In the MoP Beta on Horde side the main dude we have to follow is General Nazgrim, is this the same orc that was in vashj'ir (Legionnaire Nazgrim), and if so when did he get a promotion.
You said it yourself, dude -- Nazgrim lead an impossible mission in Vashj'ir and came out a hero with you in tow. That guy deserved a promotion after the hell he went through. And he has to do the zone every time someone wants to quest through! Ba-dum-ksh.

They should not be limiting flying. I mean, god forbid we get to play the game we PAY for in the way that we want...
You choose to pay for and play the game that Blizzard makes.
