The Queue: Weird Science

Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Mike Sacco will be your host today.

Danny Elfman hat trick! It's goooood!

amaxewardiary asked:

Question for those who play priests. Working on my level 83 Disc priest for solo pve (I don't do shadow for RP reasons). How much priority do I need to put on Spirit compared to Int?

You don't need to worry about spirit too much if you're soloing! Take whatever gear you can get your hands on, and don't worry about prioritizing anything except intellect. You'll be fine.

dashric asked:

If Blizzard were to tabulate and release the gender demographics for account holders on WoW, would that be enough to deter the idea that everyone that plays the game is a guy. I have talked with several people that play and it seems pretty evenly split between male and female, but every female says they are confused for a guy all the time. Is there anyway to get the public to not make such unfounded assumptions?

Blizzard is extremely unlikely to release player gender statistics, but there is a way to get the public to act better! Society is a patriarchy that systematically oppresses women, and gamer/nerd culture reflects society on the whole. If you want to stop sexism and misogyny in gaming, you have to start with fighting those battles in society. Step one is "noticing bad stuff," though, which you've just done! Good work. Seriously. If you want more advice, I am pretty much constantly talking about this stuff on Twitter, so follow me there and ask lots of questions.

RodneyHatfield asked:

I love all the mop info. But why is the old kingdoms been forgotten. Is there no back and forwards, no land changing hands, no new battles. I'm looking forward to exploring new lands, but I also look forward to seeing the changes to places, Ive spent hours/days/weeks stomping through as well. There needs to be a few articles on stuff happening on E. kingdom, and kalimdor

EK and Kalimdor will be largely unchanged (minus some very particular stuff like Theramore) when MoP comes out. Cataclysm was about the old world. MoP is about the new world.

Exogenesis3 asked:

This is probably been asked before, but I haven't seen any answers, so I'll ask myself:Why does Blizzard not allow RealID to work cross-region? I live in Europe but I have plenty of American friends who I can not only play with, but also can't even talk to ingame. I would very much like to be able to at least add them on RealID. If it can work across games, is there any specific reason why it cannot work cross-region?

WoW US and WoW Europe are run on two different infrastructures, so the accounts on either side can't talk to each other, just like neither can talk to WoW China accounts. That's just the way it is.

Draygonia asked:

Etiquette question for the Q:

I joined Heroic SFK last night already in progress. Lord Walden dropped Blinders of the Follower (cloth helm). With the other members of my party being a pally, shammy, warrior, and hunter, I need rolled on it as I recognized it being part of a transmog set since none of the other party members could use it, and it looked cool. The tank said 'nice upgrade' (sarcastically, as I had a better helm), I replied 'transmog', and I was promptly kicked. Am I in the wrong here?

You didn't do anything wrong. The other players were jerks. One shard or the vendor price of an item isn't worth quibbling over.

coville asked:

D3 question:

I think it would be helpful if we had a way to join a public game that already has 2 or 3 players instead of the normal solo player. I find going through the quests more enjoyable in larger groups.

I'm trying not to answer too many D3 questions, but: Blizzard reps said that the reason why you usually get matched to a single-player game is because the server is being instructed to try to alleviate stress wherever possible, which usually means spreading players out over lots of games instead of putting three to four people into groups together. This is a temporary measure, and Blizzard hopes to have the functionality a little more, well, functional soon.
