WoW Insider has the latest on the Mists of Pandaria!

The Queue: Blank Check

Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Adam Holisky (@adamholisky) will be your host today.

This movie was amazing in my childhood. A kid gets a blank check and he buys everything he ever wanted. What more could you dream of in 1994?

The star of the movie, Brian Bonsall, also played Alexander Rozhenko (the son of Worf) on Star Trek. He's also a convicted criminal, everything from assault to drugs.

So much for the future of Klingons.

Kyrt asked:

The new loot roll in MoP....I understand how it works. What I'm not sure of is this: when Blizzard states each roll is "independent"....how independent is independent? Will there b a chance noone in the raid gets an item and a chance everyone does? Or is there a minimum and maximum - only the top 4-8 rolls get loot and the system will massage the figures until it gets a suitable drop number?

First, keep in mind that this is only for the Raid Finder instances and not the Dungeon Finder or any other system. And second, remember that Blizzard could change anything about this on a moment's notice, so nothing is set in stone.

That said, it's mostly independent. You're only rolling against yoursel;, think of it as an old-school D&D initiative check. If you roll a 98 or 99, you get loot; otherwise, nothing. There is an instance when the system will step in and insist that someone gets loot if no one rolls a 98 or 99. But that's really rare and is the only boundary condition (that we know of). Also, those 98 and 99 numbers are just made up for the sake of example. They could be anything, really.

Revynn asked:

MMO-Champion just dug up a bunch of concept art "for the Mists of Pandaria credits screen". Did I miss something? Since when has an MMO ever had a "credits screen"?

Yup, you missed something. Every version of WoW has had one, accessible by a button on the lower right-hand side of the screen when logging in.

Ron2 asked:

Given that 5.0.1 has or will soon hit the PTR, how long do you think we have until that patch? Not Mists, but the pre-patch, which I assume will change Achievement criteria and possibly convert old glyphs into new.

We honestly have no idea anymore. Everyone on staff and elsewhere was expecting the release announcement by now, and I'm pretty surprised patch 5.0.1 isn't already on the PTR. I'll just go with the generic answer of Soon™ and leave it at that.

(I pulled a Blizzard.)

Tai asked:

Do the guild tabards that help you raise your guild rep also affect guild xp? I ask because I have several exalted toons and am trying to (slowly) level a small guild up, so I wonder if wearing the tabards is of any use.

No, only your own guild rep. It doesn't work to level the XP of a guild.
