The Queue: Different warlock

The Queue
Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Mike Sacco will be your host today.

This is my The Secret World character, Ellie Carter, rocking her Warlock deck outfit. I also have the Paladin deck. Am I just going to keep unlocking deck outfits because they have the same names as WoW classes? Time will tell, friends.

BlazeNor asked:

Is the WoW movie still going to happen?

Well, we haven't heard anything about it in a while, and we know that Sam Raimi, who was supposed to be directing, has picked up other projects in the meantime. Movies are ... complicated to make. Licensed movies especially can end up in development hell for a long, long time. So no, there's no news, and if I were you, I'd just forget about it so that you won't be disappointed if it doesn't happen -- and you'll be pleasantly surprised if it does.

MalcolmRobertMcGregor asked:

In ds...I get the weak connection with the old god mobs etc...but I want to know...who is Hagarra and wtf is that thing doing?

Hagara is a servant of Al'Akir (hence the "Stormbinder"), and her goal in Dragon Soul was to either kill or delay Thrall and the band of adventurers attempting to charge the Dragon Soul.

Twnburge asked:

Lorewise, how do the Blood Elf Paladins feel about now having Tauren Paladins? It is never mentioned that I have found. I guess this could apply for any of the new race/class combos, but i seem to remember something about the Druids having mixed feelings of the new trolls and worgens. But I can't find anything on Paladins.

No real news on that front. It's worth noting that the story text never (or very rarely) calls tauren paladins "paladins" -- it calls them Sunwalkers, because like many classes available to several races, they're just not really the same from race to race except in gameplay.

helotwonine asked:

Something I've been wondering forever. Why are fog-effects/draw-distance-limits stronger straight in front of your character than they are slightly to the left or right?

For instance, if I'm flying directly at Dalaran it becomes visible on my screen later than if I'm flying slightly to the left or right of it. Same is true for any of the large-ish landmarks you can see from a distance. The best way for me to see if I'm heading in the right direction is to pivot slightly till my screen draws the ojbect on the edges of the screen. This has occured on every machine/setting I've ever played the game on.

Has this ever been explained? It's not a big deal at all, but just something I've always wondered about.

Your field of view is rendered as a cube, angled to give you the most view distance directly in front of you. Commenter Sunaseni explained it pretty well:
This is because the shape of your field of view is a cube. As to why it's a cube, I don't know, but I suspect it's because the setting for draw distance goes by X, Y, and Z distance away from your character (i.e. a cube). It doesn't say "draw R radius away from player", which is a lot more complicated to calculate. Drawing if it's within X,Y,and Z distance is just a simple check.
thekaiserchiefs asked:

How long did it take you to settle on your main's class and specializations? I've been playing for maybe 4 months and still keep trying new class and specs out and with Mists soon I'm sure I'll still be trying them out for months to come.

My rogue has been combat since the moment I gave her her first talent point in November 2004. My shaman was elemental immediately, no question. I'm pretty sure about this stuff by the time the character hits my character select screen.

macurvello asked:

Does reputation gains diminish when you are in a group larger than 5 people? Let's say I'm killing goblins in Booty Bay, does it matter if I'm in a party with up to 5 people or in a raid with more?

Nope, rep gains aren't subject to any penalties for your group size. Party away!

cdublxi asked:

What happened to the ability to have a blog on WoWinsider a while back. I made one about leveling my first horde toon on here but cannot seem to figure out how to get it back

It was horrible, and we hated it. The feature was unwieldy, unfun, and unmanageable. We are happy it's dead, like many of the features rolled out around the time of our rebranding, and wish it had never been born.
