The Queue: Imakuni? Really?

The Queue Imakuni Really
Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Alex Ziebart will be your host today.

Michael asked:

So I'm trying to get the Orgrimmar City badge, but I can't get past Garrosh's Elementium Geode. My Tiny Crimson Whelpling's fire attacks aren't very effective. Should I have started with Loggerhead Snapjaw instead?

While the Loggerhead Snapjaw is the best possible starter option, you didn't totally set yourself back by starting with the Tiny Crimson Whelpling. You do have the option of acquiring the Purple Puffer, a WoW TCG reward, by battling Imakuni in your local inn. Alternatively, if you don't want to get involved in the TCG at all, you can easily get the Strand Crawler before ever leaving Stormwind City.

I do recommend giving the TCG a whirl if you haven't done so yet. It can be a pretty significant advantage to your play, and it's certainly better than the pinball minigame.

Steven asked:

I have a question about RAF. The website says that you need to buy the game, then 30 days, then 60 days in order to get the mount. If the Battle Chest was bought+60 Day Game Time Card would that work? or does the 30 days have to be bought first for it to work?

That would work! You can do exactly that.

reid asked:

Are there going to be faction tabards for rep like in Cata, or are all rep gains to be only accomplished through quests and dailies for each faction?

I'm going to make a shameful admission and say I haven't been able to touch the various reputations on beta quite as much as I've wanted, so I don't know what's on all of the faction vendors. However, Anne has been building galleries of all of the swank loot on the faction vendors so far, and tabards do not seem to be on those vendors. I don't see any new tabards on Wowhead, either. Quests and dailies look like the way to go in Mists of Pandaria, unless the tabards simply haven't been implemented yet.

Phoenix asked:

With the other Queue writers stealing your ongoing stuck-in-the-90s gag, what will be your new schtick?

Oh, I'll just wait until they get bored of it and steal my schtick right back. I give it another week before I start posting '90s cartoons again.

jonny asked:

Do we know why Blizzard closed down jade forest?

They didn't give us any details on why they're reworking Jade Forest. The popular theory is that they're working on the phasing that will occur there in patch 5.1 and the 5.0 Jade Forest is still complete, but that seems more than a little odd to me. The work they've done on Jade Forest isn't only adding more buildings or moving NPCs around. They've made terrain changes such as raising mountains where there were none before. Would something happen in 5.1 that would cause a mountain to rise out of the ground and a fully built temple to sprout up on its peak? Maybe, but that's more than a little strange.

I suspect the Jade Forest that was there at the start of beta ended up not living up to their expectations, after doing all of the other zones. I have to admit, as neat as it was, it did have a bit too much "kill 10 tigers" going on for a modern MMO. I enjoyed the zone, but it wasn't as impressive as it should be for the introductory experience of the expansion. Very little ka-pow, you know? Maybe they're fixing that.
