The Queue: I like magical horse things

Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Anne Stickney (@Shadesogrey) wants to see Secret of the Magic Crystals on Inferno.

I have no idea what exactly the purpose of this game is, but after watching a stream of it last night, I bought it on Steam for a dollar. I mean, come on -- it's magical ponies. I may also have been admittedly brainwashed by the sparkling and the brushies. I'm still somewhat confused, however, by the fact that your horse options seem to be pretty unicorns and giant hell horses lit aflame by rage and fed from the souls of the damned.

But you can brush either one until it sparkles!

tcj569 asked:

Does anyone know why there is no emerald drake? In Wrath we got a red (rep), black (drop), blue (drop), and bronze (drop). Its not like the model doesn't exist, since we ride one in the Hyjal intro quest and in the Occulus. Not to mention the countless other colors (twlight, azure, netherwing). I have the others and they want their buddy.

I don't really know, but I wish they'd give us one. I want the entire rainbow! It seems odd that we're missing one of the original colors, especially when they keep giving us odd ones like the Twilight, Albino and Chromatic models. And as you pointed out, there are already models for green drakes, so it would be kind of nice to have one around. I don't know what to tell you, really!

PaulTaelesHopper asked:

Question : Any word on if the daily cap removal will make it in to the final cataclysm patch?

I sincerely doubt it. Stacking dailies to get a jump start on XP in Cataclysm was bad enough when you were capped at 25. I don't think they'd let players just stockpile an unlimited number of daily quests to turn in once Mists goes live.

Revynn asked:

Question: I know that servers are named after NPC's, Factions and Zones. Where did "Moonguard" come from?

The Moon Guard was an organization dating back prior to the War of the Ancients. These guys were a group of elite spellcasters that protected the kaldorei capital. So they were kind of like the Sentinels, but they were the spellcaster equivalent of the Sentinels. The Moon Guard primarily used arcane magic using energy drawn from the Well of Eternity.

After the War of the Ancients, what with the Well destroyed and arcane magic forbidden, the Moon Guard pretty much dissolved. Some members became druids; others were likely members of the group that was banished to the Eastern Kingdoms and eventually became the high elves.

verticalevent pointed out:

I think it needs to be noted that gear for rep typically only need to be revered and not exalted (this is based on what I can find on WoWHead).

Yep! And I can tell you right now, doing quests grants you a ton of reputation. Doing quests while you're leveling grants you reputation, too. It's really not as long or as arduous a grind as people think it's going to be. They've balanced it well enough that I think people are going to be able to unlock armor fairly quickly. Exalted rewards like mounts will take longer to unlock, however.

Seriously, guys, you're making a mountain out of a molehill here. Right now, it looks like you are likely be revered with several factions before you even have enough valor points to purchase much of anything.

Jacob1 asked:

Anne, or anyone that can, is it poissible to fix the wowinsider podcast on iTunes it refuses to download and I have a long car ride coming up D:. Thanks!

It's being looked at, if it hasn't already been fixed by the time this column goes live. Don't worry, we're working on it!

@RhoWoW on Twitter asked:

#Queue In MoP, time has passed since Deathwing's attack on Stormwind. Why is the city still in a damaged state in the beta?

Generally speaking, when Blizzard is working on a new expansion, they are working on new content, not working on endlessly revamping and updating old content. From a lore standpoint -- well, that was an awful lot of damage Deathwing did. It would take a considerable amount of time to fix. Especially given the fact that Deathwing is a giant magical dragon composed of molten lava and likely fused the stonework together when he landed on Stormwind's towers. That's a little hard to just clean up.

I do hope they address it and fix it at some point, however. I miss the shining entrance to Stormwind as it used to be.

@aaronsteignberg on Twitter asked:

what's the best way if any to experience the "story" of vanilla?

Vanilla wasn't so much a cohesive story as it was a set of chapters. Act I was the whole story involving Onyxia, Ragnaros, and later, Nefarian -- sort of the saga of Blackrock Spire, in a way. Act II involved the arrival of the Zandalar and the sudden re-emergence of enemies long laid to rest in the original War of the Shifting Sands. Act III involved the return of old enemies in Naxxramas and sort of led in to what we eventually saw in Wrath of the Lich King.

Because of this, there aren't really a lot of stories that involve those events. But you could pick up Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 of World of Warcraft: The Comic, which goes into the events involving Onyxia. There's also a short story involving the War of the Shifting Sands that flashes back to the days of the original qiraji uprising. And of course, there's always Wowpedia, which has a wealth of information on old lore from the days of vanilla.

To be perfectly honest, you know how Cataclysm saw the collection of leader short stories on the Warcraft website? I would love to see a new series of short stories that delve into the events and goings on of vanilla World of Warcraft. All of those old stories were removed or changed with Cataclysm, and it would be really nice to see them given the proper written treatment.
