I was browsing around some old WoW Insider work I had in folders spread across a few laptops and a couple of desktops, and I came across this screenshot of Chris Metzen's "Geek Is" performance at the opening ceremony of BlizzCon 2010. I personally think it was a great display of powerful speaking and presentation, while others disregard it as just an oddity at BlizzCon.

For those of you who didn't see it, Metzen basically stood up in front of 25,000 people in the audience and another 50,000 at home and yelled "Geek is!" before each slide he showed. He then talked briefly about why the image was a cornerstone of geek culture. Some were funny; others were serious. But in the end, he created a narrative that brought together the entire audience, which is what any good welcoming speech needs to do.

So today's Around Azeroth is dedicated to the Borg in all of us. Resistance, as they say, is futile.
