I love Canadians. I don't know what it is, but there's something very appealing about having a culture so similar to that of the United States but so different at the same time. I mean, do you know what they do to french fries up there? They put gravy on them. Madness.
Of course, I learned everything I know about Canada from one place: the early 1990s comedy series Kids in the Hall. It was so delightfully absurd and yet so delightfully Canadian. The sketch above with Bruce McCulloch (as Tammy) is one of my all-time favorites. Not the all-time favorite -- but one of them.
Anyway, that's what's been amusing me for the last few weeks -- watching Kids in the Hall on Netflix. I know what'll amuse you, though: a hearty round of What aRe yoU Playing! So let's mosey on past the break and all share our lives with complete strangers, shall we?
Anne Stickney (@Shadesogrey) I am going to be playing the "Well I have the house to myself for two weeks, now what" game. I think it will involve a lot of spontaneous dance parties.
Chase Hasbrouck (@alarondruid, @alaronmonk) Taking a weekend mini-vacation to the Horseshoe Bay Resort. I am explicitly not taking my laptop. I might play a round or two of Dead Trigger on my phone while waiting for something, but that's about it.
Daniel Desmond (@Antigen_) Finishing up Dead Space (for real this time) and then probably toying around in the Creation Kit for Skyrim. Making giant ice caves is fun, but man, it's a lot of work.
Daniel Whitcomb (@danielwhitcomb) I'll be playing and promoting my Sentinel a couple times on Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer for Operation Alloy. I'll also playing a bit of Diablo III. My Witch Doctor has two paragon levels already, and I wouldn't mind adding a couple more to that. Finally, I'm still trying to get the D6 in Binding of Isaac, so I'll probably see how far I can get ??? at least a couple times.
Dawn Moore (@dawnwow) I preordered Guild Wars 2 months ago, but now that it's finally here, I'm not too excited about it. There's still too much to do in preparation for Mists of Pandaria, and I want to be completely ready for launch next month. GW2 just didn't grab me when I did the beta events.
Fox Van Allen (@foxvanallen) Gym. Sleep. Brunch.
Joe Perez (@lodurzj) Guild Wars 2! Ehmry Bay if you want to join folks from Conquest and many other guilds. Massive guild alliance forming there.
Josh Myers (@PostColloquial) I'm trying not to get into Guild Wars 2, not because I don't think it looks amazing (it does!) but because I don't have time to divide my attention between real life and two awesome games. So, I'm leveling a rogue and a paladin to try and have 10 85s before MoP hits. I'm also trying to get my young'un, fairly fresh 85 boomkin into a Firelands or Dragon Soul over the weekend. Hint hint, Velen Alliance players!
Lisa Poisso (lisapoisso) Guild Wars 2, baby!
Matt "Matticus" Low (@matticus) I like many others on the team preordered Guild Wars 2. I'm not going to go super hardcore into it or anything right off the bat. Need to finalize my guild preparations for Mists of Pandaria. We're down to a month left now! It's going to be an agonizing wait. Other than that, I've picked up a Counterstrike: Global Offensive 32-slot server. If any of you fine readers are into shooters, feel free to add the server and join me! IP would be: 188.8.131.52:27015 - Hope to see you there!
Matt Rossi (@MattWRossi) Right now I'm playing the write some posts game. Other than that, no idea. Maybe more Mass Effect 3, I'm playing it on several characters, switching back and forth, to try and get really in depth with it so that I can feel that I've given it a complete and exhaustive playthrough before I write about it.
Matt Walsh (@Rhidach) I'm on a major Mass Effect 3 kick lately. Finishing up my "perfect playthrough" that I started months ago for the Extended Cut, then gave up before the EC ever came out. Goal this time is to be ready for when Leviathan comes out. I'll also be doing a lot of ME3 multiplayer.
Megan O'Neill (@slowpoker) Guild Wars 2! I'll probably end up on a necromancer at some point (sylvari or evil human), but I want to try asura guardian first. Also, cooking!
Olivia Grace (@oliviagrace) I'm going to be playing write the dissertation and getting my warlock to 85 before Mists, just because I'm really excited about the warlock changes! Leveling it is painful, though. Damn slow ramp-up.
The weekend is the perfect time to kick back, relax and enjoy some game time. Are you an achievement junkie? Can't get enough raiding? Rolling a new alt? Considering taking the leap into roleplaying? Whatever your favorite way to play World of Warcraft, let us know in the comments what you're playing this weekend!
