Happy New Year everyone, I hope that your 2013 is either as awesome or better than your 2012. Let's dive into the Queue for this year by looking at what's on the docket...
Many people asked:
What are your predictions for WoW in 2013?
This is actually a pretty easy and straight forward question to answer, since there's not going to be a whole lot of surprises.
First, we're getting BlizzCon 2013. A lot of people sent us along Mike Morhaime's tweet last night saying as such, but that's not news -- we've known about BlizzCon 2013 happening this year since they said there wouldn't be one in 2012. Nice that they're reminding us, but not a big deal.
Second, at BlizzCon '13, I'd say we're going to get WoW's next expansion announced. Again, this shouldn't come as a huge shocker to anyone, since it follows the same way all other expansions have been put forward. One year without an announcement, then the next year with an announcement. Rinse and repeat. It's been pretty darn successful for Blizzard thus far, so I see no reason for them to change it up.
Third, and again at BlizzCon '13, I'd guess we're going to get the first look at the new character models, and that those are going to be released as part of the patch that'll come with the next expansion (patch 6.0 / 6.0.2 or whatever). This too shouldn't be a real surprise to anyone. We've known the new models are coming, and they're actively working on them. Getting the new models looking all nice for a grand debut at BlizzCon is exactly the kind of thing Blizzard is known for; and I'd honestly be disappointed if they were not shown off then.
Finally, and while I don't want to end on a negative note, I do think we'll see another dip in WoW's population numbers. I don't suspect the dip will be all that large, but it will happen.
is the increasing size of the game killing subscribers with inferior machines?
No. WoW is still very accessible from very aged computers. The size of the game has very little to do with any as well, as long as the graphic settings are low the game could be three times the size it is right now and it'd still function fine.
Are the crafted PvP gear recipes in MoP going to be auto-upgraded each season like they were in Cata?
We don't know yet -- I'm expecting something on this from Blizzard soon.
Let's say hypothetically that someone wins a Blood-Soaked Invitation on the BMAH and while he is celebrating, he wins a second one. My Q4Q: What can I do with my second Blood-Soaked Invitation?
As was noted in the comments, you're out of luck. The second invitation isn't good for anything. But as you also noted in the comments, hang on to it and forget about it -- maybe one day Blizzard will un-bind-on-pickup the invitations and you'll have a nice little something at that point.
What do you think are the chances of story ever going back to Outland (to help the Arakkoa, eh?) or Northrend?
I'd say there's a very good chance of that happening, at least in some small way. We know that Blizzard wants to go back and redo the Outland questing experience, like they did for Cataclysm and the old world, and it wouldn't be a big surprise to see some current level quests get infused into that revamp, were it ever to happen. I'm not sure the Arkkoa will play any major role, however.
Of course the big question mark in this is when -- and there's really no telling. It could be in the next expansion, it could be later on. But I wouldn't be surprised to see it happen.
I also think there's a good possibility of another planet opening up for us to go stomp around in... but that's a discussion for another Queue.
