The unfiltered Adrianne Curry gets Explicit

WoW talk gets sexy with the unfiltered Adrianne Curry
You know you've dialed the right number when you call Adrianne Curry because you get geek music on hold -- Star Wars, Inception, it's all there. Make no mistake: This lady is no poseur. The original America's Next Top Model wields established fandom credentials in Star Wars, cosplay, A Song of Ice and Fire, and of course World of Warcraft. Her pedigree in sexier pursuits is no less enthralling: two Playboy covers plus the Playboy Top 25 list in 2008, the Maxim Hot 100 list in 2005, national and international magazine and runway modeling, various stints on reality TV -- and of course, more important events such as hosting BlizzCon's live coverage on DirecTV in 2011.

The words Adrianne uses to describe her upcoming talk show on Sirius Radio make a pretty solid description of her life in general: "from fashion to sex to Warcraft." That's Adrianne Curry, in a nutshell.

We caught Adrianne in the midst of leveling up with new boyfriend Todd Roy, producer of The Jace Hall Show. (Read our previous interview with Todd.) Think you'd be a good match for a guild with the two of them? Explicit is recruiting now. See if you have what it takes to game alongside this World of Warcraft vixen, plus hear Adrianne's unfiltered take on leveling up a significant other and balancing WoW with life in the spotlight.

Editor's Note: This interview contains explicit language, which may not be safe for work (or children). Read at your own risk!

WoW Insider: So, Adrianne, let's jump right into what we're all playing ...

Adrianne Curry: I recently got back into WoW and am sort of trying to discuss with my guild how we're going to rebuild it since we fell apart after Cataclysm dropped. [And] I got Todd to faction change, so his guy is no longer even named Kwoon. He changed factions for me! I'm serious -- it's love.

Aww, you're playing together?

Yeah, we're playing together.

Hmm, how's that working out? Because you've said in the past that you never wanted to have a significant other who was a member of your guild ...

(cringing voice) I know! (laughs) But here's the thing: My past is peppered with significant others I didn't get along with. I actually get along with him, so it's been OK for the most part so far except for the part that he's so low-level and I have to run around with him while he's questing and going to dungeons that are really low-level to kill things for him.

Well, he should be a fast learner! He's got a little experience ...

Well, he does, but since Cataclysm and Pandaria, our characters are completely nerfed from what they used to be. They're fuckin' totally different.

When you say "we" and "my guild," you're actually the guild leader?

Yeah, I've been the GL of the guild Explicit on the Nazgrel server for probably the last four or five years.

So you're a raider? Would that be an accurate description of your current playstyle?

I used to be into raiding, until it started destroying friendships. (laughs) Right now, I'm going to try to focus more on just instances and PvP. I'm sure I'll get sucked into some raids, but you and I both know it's like six, seven hours later and you want to fuckin' kill everyone you know. (laughs)

My guild, we're slow. It took us a really long time to down the Lich King because, I don't know, you get a whole bunch of stoners together and no one takes direction. When we actually did that, it's funny because, like, one of healers was like "And now I'm done." And he just deleted his toon. (laughs)

I actually made a little video of it. I never posted it because ... (sigh) I didn't think we were going to down him, and then all of a sudden our dance just became beautiful, in harmony that was all synced up, and we brought him down. And I don't think I'm ever changing that title. Kingslayer was beyond earned for me, and I'm gonna keep it up there.

So what about Mists, then? What's taking the place of raiding in your WoW life?

I work a lot, so I'm almost to level 90. My friends are like, "WTF? Why won't you cheat and just run dungeons?" But I've wanted to grind it, like all through questing, so I've been questing all over the new continent and very slowly leveling up. And now I have to carry Todd. (laughs) So I won't probably be doing what I want for a while, unless it's battlegrounds and arena.

I really need new gear and everything. Before Cata dropped, my toon was like fuckin' epic. My gear score, and everything -- she was just hot shit. And it was so disheartening, you know, when everything changed. I worked so hard.

It won't be too rough, but I know what it entails. It entails true focus and probably two months and just tweaking and ... just trying to get the damn gear. And I'm really lucky because I do accept gifts. (laughs) I always tell people "You can send me gold to my account; I ain't gonna hate ya."

So are you actually twinking Todd, or are you playing at level with him?

Well, we're playing at level together when I don't have a tank to come with us into dungeons. We'll go the highest dungeon that we're alllowed to and of course, we just run through it while he gets XP. But I mean, we've also been questing too because it's kind of awesome when your boyfriend's like, "My girlfriend is badass." But this dude will like run through an entire castle and pull every single thing and bring them all to me. And I'm like, "Dude, I may be badass, but I'm not even 90 yet!" And now I'm struggling. And he's like, "OK, I'm trying to heal, I'm trying to heal." And I'm like, "Just die ... Fucker ..." (laughs)

Well, you've run in geek and gaming circles for a long time now. You must have a pretty solid group of long-time friends in your guild, right?

We do. The people that I've got there now are like family. And we really look forward to recruiting again because we normally open events just for like a month or so, so we don't have to give away our stuff, and we interview people.

So is the guild open to anyone who reads the article and is interested?

Yeah. We're a 21-and-older guild, period. No exceptions. Because of who I am, the last thing I need is someone's 13-year-old: "Mama, Mama, Adrianne Curry was talking about breasts while I was playing WoW!" No, thank you. So it's definitely people who are 21 and older, definitely people who are nerdy and have a sense of humor. Bad fuckers get dropped pretty quick. If someone wants to come in and be cool and be friends with everyone, we're game. But when we start to notice someone's only focused on "Adrianne ... Adrianne ...", we won't even say anything to you. You're just fuckin' gone.

It seems like a lot of celebrities who are open about their in-game identities are comfortable sharing their character identities with a PvP attitude – "You wanna see me in game? Bring it!"

I wish I could challenge people like that! If we could just get a way-back machine and go back to right before Cata dropped and you wanna fuckin' stand outside Stormwind and try yourself? I will fuck you up. But right now? (laughs)

My guild, they're like my family. When I hosted the live coverage of DirecTV at the last BlizzCon, I actually worked into the deal that all my guildies get passes into BlizzCon. (giggles)

Oh, you're sweet!

I knooow! (laughs) So my guild and I had this huge party in my presidential suite at like the Hyatt or whatever and it's funny because the Foo Fighters are playing. They were like "Oh, come over here!" and I was like "I'm sorry. We're having a guild meeting. We're getting ready for raid." Yeah ... (laughs) We all wanted to start playing, but I was like "Guys, we can't be that lame. We can't bring our laptops to a hotel room and sit next to each other and just because we don't have to be on Mumble or Vent to hear each other -- like, I get what you're going for, but I been talking Warcraft all day. I don't want to fuckin' play it at the end of the day.

So no issues with players tracking you down in game and acting inappropriate or anything?

No, I mean, they pretty much blow over pretty fast. If someone starts whispering me and they're gross, I just ignore them until they go away. ... It is a very powerful tool. I think a lot of people don't have the discipline to ignore. They're like "Oh, this is too much -- I gotta say something!" Don't say anything.

I've pretty much had good experiences. A lot of times, it's just the drive-by bombings of "Hey, dude, I heard this was you, you're awesome, and see you later."

Now, the best thing I think that's ever happened to me is I was playing arena and me and my team, we were kicking these people's ass, and then all of a sudden at the end, it was like "You basically beat the shit out of this team called Azeroths Next Top Model." And I'm like "Fuck you! I win everything! (laughs) I'm the first! You can't beat a top model, you stupid idiot!"

I get such rage. My World of Warcraft headset, this is my third one. It's in shambles and in pieces. I go through like two or three keyboards a year. It's ridiculous. And that's raiding; it's totally raiding. ... I buy the keyboards that have the reinforced metal keys. That works for a child, but it ain't workin' for me, 'cause I'm taking it out ...

My ex-husband literally ran into the room one time and said, "If I have to hear one more thing about the fucking stupid King Smarthas or whatever ..." I was like "Nooo!" Because we would be yelling, and I'd be yelling at the screen "Fuck you, Arthas! Fuck you!" And he would wipe us out. It's funny ... He even knew, from hearing me -- he's like "Are you done with festering rot yet?" And I'm like "Shut up!" (laughs)

But you've kept at it -- I mean, WoW must hold a special place in your heart after all this time.

World of Warcraft for me got me through literally a falling-apart marriage; that's like when I joined it. If it wasn't for Arthas, I don't think I would have pulled through.

If Explicit sounds like the kind of guild you'd be interested in joining (and you're 21 or older), tweet Adrianne at @AdrianneCurry. You can also find Adrianne online on Facebook.

"I never thought of playing WoW like that!" -- and neither did we, until we talked with Game of Thrones' Hodor (Kristian Nairn) ... a blind ex-serviceman and the guildmates who keep him raiding as a regular ... and a 70-year-old grandma who tops her raid's DPS charts as its legendary-wielding GM.
