The Queue: Distracted by kitties

Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Adam Holisky (@adamholisky) will be your host today.

My cats were being all cute last night when I was writing the Queue, so I thought I had to post the pic. The white one, Nala, isn't really that fat, just a bad angle. She's actually my brother's cat though, just taking care of her for a bit. So glad to see them both get along.

NotAHuntard asked:

What is the minimum hardware requirements to realistically get playable frame rates on a laptop?

More than anything you need a laptop with a dedicated video card. Any laptop that has that will be able to get a decent framerate with graphic settings at low. For somewhat good graphics, I'd say an i5, 4gigs of RAM, and a dedicated video card on a 15" monitor. Remember that the larger monitor you have, the more power you need behind your graphics, so what's true for a 15" screen isn't going to be true for a 17" screen (unless you change the resolution, etc etc).

Bottom line is that it's not terribly expensive to get something that works at minimum. For a really good setup you're going to want to drop a fair amount of money on a gaming laptop. Be prepared for a $1,700 price tag and up (I spent $2,300 on mine almost two years ago, and I'm still using it without any problem at all).

Daniel asked:

why hasn't blizzard scaled mounts for all larger races like they did Tauren? (Pandaren, Draenei as examples)

I'm not really sure, to be honest. I'm not noticing any real detriment to the feel of the characters though when placed on mounts that are not scaled, so maybe they think they just don't have to?

Either way I'd keep in mind that the Tauren is a very old model. It's likely that there were things Blizzard needed to do with it way beck when that they no longer need to do with newer models. Enjoy it though -- big mounts for big cows!

Johnny asked:

Im sitting here, waiting on my raid finder queue and thought of something. I noticed in the queue window that the other tank and myself have been linked up. and we have 12 out of 17 DPS. would it be hard to allow us to chat together before we go into the instance? we're waiting as it is. might as well get some time to atleast allow the tanks to strategize.

That's a great idea. Unfortunately, while it might look like you and the other tank are synced up, there's a chance that you're not, and other tanks are just switching in really fast without you realizing it. It's too hard to say what's exactly happening behind the scenes in the matching system.

That said a mechanism for tanks to talk a bit while the rest of the group forms would be a great feature, one that I could see being worth spending some time developing. It's been my experience that tanks are some of the most receptive and talkative people, especially to each other. Getting them in a situation where they can plan out the instance a bit better, or at least have an idea earlier on of who will be doing what, could do great things for the raid.

BurnedReynolds asked:

Just last night I tried to send an item via mail to a friend on another realm. I was unable to do so, although both (and my friend) were certain we have done this before. Are we both mistaken, has there been a change or was it a bug of some kind?

You're mistaken. Cross realm mailing has never happened, and to be honest, I'd be surprised if it ever does.
