WoW Insider has the latest on the Mists of Pandaria!

The Queue: Favorites and other inquiries

Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Anne Stickney (@Shadesogrey) is answering all kinds of questions today.

The above video is not only a good song, but totally relevant. I promise. Let's get to the questions!

Sophdog asked:

Q4TQ: What is your most memorable quest/questline? My vote has to go to "The day I punched Deathwing in the face". I make a point of levelling all alts through that zone, just to see it again.

The Darrowshire chain from vanilla, hands-down. I remember my first character randomly getting a quest in Winterspring that sent her all the way to Eastern Plaguelands to find Pamela. And I remember how creepy the Eastern Plaguelands were back then, and that sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach when I realized Darrowshire was empty followed abruptly by a case of the willies when I realized Pamela was a dead little girl. The whole chain was amazing. It's still in game, but I feel like Cataclysm stripped a lot of the meaning and the feeling from it, for some reason -- it's just not the same.

Fizzl asked:

Did the Horde and Alliance know about Pandaren before Mists? The cinematic and post-cinematic, plus Nazgrim's "bear creature" comment make it seem like they didn't. But when you walk through Stormwind after the starter zone, everyone is making comments like "here to join the Alliance, eh?" or "never thought I'd see your kind here!" which make it seem like Pandaren were a known thing beforehand.

The pandaren race was known of, yes -- but people hadn't seen one in the flesh in such a long time that they were kind of regarded by some as almost a myth. Chen Stormstout was one of the few that was out and about in Azeroth. Pandaria itself was pretty much a legend -- Chen was from the Wandering Isle, originally.

TheOldBear asked:

Q4tQ: Do we know anything about whats happening to the Kor'kron? All of the Garrosh loyalists need to be killed of course, if they all weren't already in SoO, but has the Kor'kron Guard, as an organization, been disbanded?

At the moment, all Kor'kron guards in Orgrimmar appear to be gone on the beta. They are still there in the Undercity, for now. We haven't gotten any kind of official word on whether or not they've been disbanded, wiped out, or if they're still actually in service, but sworn to Vol'jin.

@JDRGriffin asked via Twitter:

what zone best comprised the look and feel of your home state?

I grew up in Thousand Needles, I swear. That photo above is about a half hour drive or so from my house. Needless to say, I was really upset when Thousand Needles was flooded in Cataclysm -- it was kind of silly, but no matter where in the real world I happened to be, going to Thousand Needles in Warcraft felt a little like visiting home.

@RunelordProduct asked via Twitter:

Is Mana Tide Totem REALLY gone, or are they messing with us again? Same goes for Slam.

I don't know about Slam, but Mana Tide has definitely been cut. It's been cut for a while now. Celestalon confirmed that on Twitter the other day.

@WarlockAman asked via Twitter:

Where were Velen and Draenei between fall of Shattrath and escape to Azeroth? Did Kil'Jaedan think they were gone?

They were hiding in the marshes around the Zangar Sea -- when Draenor was shattered, they moved into Zangarmarsh. Kiljaeden pretty much left after the destruction of Shattrath City. Although he had no confirmation that Velen was dead, he was pretty confident that there weren't enough draenei left on Draenor to make any kind of difference, and that the orcs would finish the job of wiping them out completely.

@WookieeBH asked via Twitter:

Do we know what happened to Dezco's living son? With the Golden Lotus decimated, are they free to go back to TB?

We don't actually know what happened to the little guy! But the Vale was in the beginning stages of healing and recovery at the end of the Siege of Orgrimmar. If anything, the kid is going to be vital in helping heal the damage, when he gets bigger. That may be why it was so important that he join the Golden Lotus in the first place. I hope we hear more about him, someday. I haven't seen Dezco on Draenor at all so far, so he's likely still there in the Vale, raising his son and helping the Golden Lotus where he can.

@warrior_tank asked via Twitter:

are there TI-style treasure chests around in beta? If so what's in them? And are rares marked w/ a silver skull like MoP?

There are! Treasure items have a pale purple outline around them, so they're a little easier to spot. At the moment, many of them appear to have resources for your garrison, or grey vendor items. Rares are marked with a skull on the minimap, just like on the Timeless Isle -- it makes them a lot easier to spot from a distance.
