The Queue: Gnomelords of Draenor

Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Anne Stickney (@Shadesogrey) is answering all kinds of questions today.

You guys can blame ScottLeyes for this one. It's all his fault.

Bruin asked:

Does Garrosh's Jaw look a little like Deathwing's jaw in the Cinematic? I assume that's the remnants of Y'shaarj?

Nope! The tattoos are a Warsong thing -- his father had them as well. Garrosh had his done in the novel The Shattering, after Thrall appointed him Warchief and left Orgrimmar, just before Cairne confronted him and challenged him to the mak'gora that ended his life. Fun fact: When Cairne threw down and demanded the duel, he punctuated it with a full-out backhand across Garrosh's freshly-tattooed face. Ouch.

Devin asked:

QftQ: Has Blizzard said anything about the Giant Dinosaur Bones going BoA like they did with the sky shards? I have a smattering of bones across a few toons and would hate to see them go to waste but I'm afraid to delete them.

Not a word. I'm pretty sure you're expected to gather all those bones on one character. The mount and pet you can get are both account-wide, so you only have to do it on one.

ScottLeyes asked:

So, do we have an official response on whether Kargath is right or left-handed?

It probably depends on which universe you're in at the time. There is likely an alternate universe somewhere where he is missing an ear. It's been replaced by a razorblade. Or the one where he's missing a leg, so he replaced it with a pointy stick. Terrible for hiking.

DiegoAlvarenga asked:

If Garosh came 35 years ago with better tech, how the WOD Dranei are still alive?

He arrived 35 years ago on this alternate universe version of Draenor. Upon his arrival, he set the orcs to work on building the Dark Portal, which likely took at least a couple of years. Then he connected that Dark Portal with our own. We are stepping into a Draenor that is an alternate universe, 30-35 years in the past. Likely Garrosh had a hand in turning the attention away from the draenei, and keeping it focused on completing that Dark Portal and building all those weapons. Priorities!

MikeLinton asked:

Just for the record... the Challenge mode for MoP dungeons is disappearing, right? There is going to be a new Challenge mode for the WoD dungeons I hope...

Yes, they will be going away, and new Challenge Modes will be introduced for Warlords of Draenor. So if you want any Challenge Mode gear or mounts, you should probably get on that before they're gone for good.

DavidBaldock commented:

So the true way to kill an old god is to bury it for 10,000 years, then drain the power from it's heart to fuel a deranged maniac whom we then bet into submission. Time consuming, but if we could just rinse and repeat a few more times, Azeroth would be a much nicer place.

Not so much. The Old God Y'shaarj was killed long ago -- presumably during that whole Titan/Old God war at the dawn of our world. Only two things were left behind: his last breath, which brought to creation the Sha, and his heart, which was promptly locked away to rot. Garrosh essentially put the paddles to the thing and screamed "clear" when he dunked it in the waters of the Vale. It wasn't really anything to be feared up to that point.

Basically, if we want to kill an Old God dead for good, we need a Titan to do it for us, and then we can smush the pieces.

DespicableBrad asked:

Q4tQ: Now that we have a drop date for the main expansion, do we know the launch date for the Pre-Expansion event? And will it include an update to Hallow's End along with the update to Darkmoon Faire as well as the Anniversary event? I'm confused on the dates of everything but the main drop on Nov. 13th.

We have no dates for any of this yet. Some people have said 4-6 weeks, but no dates have been confirmed for either the pre-expansion event or the anniversary. Once we have those, we'll certainly post about it.

szwierzy asked:

I have been thinking about the klaxxi and something eludes me. The empress was corrupted by the sha. The sha are a manifestation of Y'shaarj. I have finished the whole klaxxi chain so maybe I am just forgetting something, but why are the Klaxxi opposing the empress again? Don't both groups ultimately serve the same master in the end? The klaxxi really can't plead ignorance because they make their intentions pretty clear.

There are two things the mantid hold dear: the 100-year cycle of mantid life, and the Old God Y'shaarj. Y'shaarj was long thought dead. The Sha are what remain. They might be the remnants, the last breaths of the Old God, but they are not the Old God itself -- and when the Sha corrupted the Empress, she promptly decided to disrupt that 100-year cycle.

The Klaxxi, a faction of mantid, are dedicated to preserving the cycle. They are the elders that have been untouched by the sha corruption, and they have the task of preserving mantid history, culture, and even its heroes in the form of the Paragons. When you hit exalted with the Klaxxi, they lead you through their chambers and tell you very explicitly that while they appreciate your help, ultimately they answer to the Old Gods. And if the Old Gods come calling, the Klaxxi will happily answer, regardless of any assistance you may have provided.

Although Y'shaarj is not technically alive when Garrosh dunks that heart in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms, its voice is reawakened -- you hear it during the Garrosh Hellscream encounter in Siege -- and the Klaxxi and mantid can hear the heart's voice loud and clear. That's why they went to Orgrimmar -- where Y'shaarj goes, they will follow.
