The Queue: Pandaren on Draenor, tank stats, garrisons

Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Adam Holisky (@adamholisky) will be your host today.
There's downtime today, and that's interrupting my normal routine of garrison farming. Must get those resources as soon as they're available.
Zemaya asked:
So I'm doing the Exarch/Maarad quests in Shadowmoon, the one where you find the wagon and protect it. There happens to be a female Panda farmer follower with them. My Q : How can that be?
They're from your garrison looking for supplies, and they came over in the portal that was opened up to Stormwind.
Now that said, I'm having a hard time of keeping track of who's who from what timeline. I don't think it's spelled out entirely well, either, in a lot of cases. Fortunately we all have people like Anne and Matt to ask, and generally The Queue is a good place to find out as well. Wowhead comments of the NPCs or quests also can sometime lend clues.
Christopher asked:
At what point do we start to see tank stats on gear? I just dinged 100, and couldn't stand waiting an hour + for queues as Retribution, so went with my off-spec (likely to be main spec now) Protection to run a few of the normal dungeons to get gear for heroics.
Now, half of the gear I have was used whilst levelling up as Ret, and worked fine tanking, and then the replacements I got in normal dungeons (ilvl 600 - 615) still haven't come with bonus armor or anything along those lines.
Should I be worried about trying to tank the heroics with less than ideal tank stats on my gear?
Nope -- you're fine! Gear is gear now, and the tanking specific stats you speak of are really only found on auxiliary pieces of gear (rings, neck, trinkets).
Loco asked:
1. Can a follower go on missions and be in buildings at the same time?
2. Can a follower escort you "in the world"?
3. If so, can it go on missions at the same time?
No, followers cannot go on missions and be assigned to buildings at the same time. They also will not show up walking around in your garrison if they're on a mission.
Yes, a follower can escort you around in Draenor -- but not Azeroth. This is achieved using the upgraded barracks, and the follower you want to escort you is literally assigned to the barracks, much like any profession follower is assigned to a profession building. At that point you can't send the assigned follower, aka your escort, on any missions.
Eliza asked:
Since we can utilize a limited number of garrison followers, should I bench the ones that have duplicate abilities, or just level them all because I can?
I got a rare Rulkan, but she does the same things as my epic Bruma Swiftstone, who's a higher level by now.
I'm going to start benching my duplicated abilities eventually, I need a billion shadow bolts sitting around in my garrison. That said, be sure to keep an eye on what the follower does for professions. A level 100 follower will award twice as much as a level 90 follower, so there might be some cases where leveling up a duplicate ability would be useful.
Also having multiple horses (which make missions run 50% faster) isn't a bad thing either, assuming you've got your peons running multiple missions.
