I'm trying to do the quest to open the mine on my horde character, but every time I try I'm unsuccessful. I have noticed that the Goren outside the mine are hostile, unlike on my alliance characters which were neutral. The grunt I need to save dies while I'm trying to get to her and fight off about 5 Goren, with more coming from the mine while I'm there. Does anyone have any suggestions for me?

Does anyone else still have a level 90 boost lying around? I haven't been able to figure out what to do with the one I got through my Warlords purchase, so it's just been sitting there. Right now I'm torn between using it on my Monk (the only tanking class I don't have at least a 90 of) and my Shaman (one of the only DPS classes that has intrigued me enough to get past level 20 that I don't have maxed yet - I'm also considering healing). Any thots?

Q4TQ: do we know how follower missions get generated ?

Even though most of my followers are 645+, I still get a lot of progression missions (more than half), and only few 100, 615 and 630 ones ( I know 645 ones are rare anyway). So I've started re-activating <100 followers, so those leveling missions don't go entirely to waste.

In the end,

1- would keeping only 100+ (or even 645+) followers active give me more "good" missions ?

2- Do inactive followers impact the missions I get ? Is the system taking account inactive followers when generating the missions list?

The restarts that hit the realms this morning fixed a variety of issues that have been dependent on a realm reset. Most of these have been small, but several related to the ability to change the outposts that you build around Draenor. Not everything is getting solved, however.

Community Manager Lore hopped on the forms last night and tossed out two important bullet points about the fixes, and what players should avoid. The note is as follows:

Blizzard Entertainment
We've been working on a solution to the issues with swapping buildings that some players have reported. [Today's] restarts will fix several issues, but there are two outstanding issues that will have to be corrected in a future hotfix. In the meantime, we want to make sure players are aware of the issues so that you can avoid them.

Alliance players who changed outpost buildings in Spires of Arak prior to tomorrow's restarts will not be able to access the new building's questline.
Horde players who change outpost buildings in Talador will be unable to change their building a second time. The gold cost will be charged, but the building will instantly revert back.

Aside from those two issues, we believe the fix applied with tomorrow's restarts will resolve all other issues with changing outpost buildings. The outstanding issues will be fixed as soon as possible.

I struggled with how to start this post off -- I didn't want to be negative and rant against professions in Warlords, or be blind and not cover their current state at all. So instead I decided upon a little bit of a meta introductory paragraph that simply says professions are not what we expected. They lack the feel of traditional professions, and seem to exist in a hybrid state of being utterly worthless worthless and slightly annoying.

As the game stands right now, you could never touch professions and you'd miss almost nothing of importance. There is no gear that you need (you may want some of it, but not much, and it is easily substituted with LFR drops), there are no battle pets that are required, and there's nothing but enchanting and inscription that are mildly necessary for a casual player to engage in the game (and at that, all those benefits can be obtained by buying the crafted items off the auction house).

What can be done? Three relatively easy things: more levels of crafted gear, revamping the resource model, and decreasing the reliance on daily cooldowns.

Yesterday Blizzard announced intentions to explore trading game time for gold via in-game items that can be purchased with real-world currency. The full statement reads:

Blizzard Entertainment
We're exploring the possibility of giving players a way to buy tradable game-time tokens for the purpose of exchanging them in-game with other players for gold. Our current thought on this is that it would give players a way to use their surplus gold to cover some of their subscription cost, while giving players who might have less play time an option for acquiring gold from other players through a legit and secure system. A few other online games offer a similar option, and players have suggested that they'd be interested in seeing something along those lines in WoW. We agree it could be a good fit for the game, and we look forward to any feedback you have as we continue to look into this feature.


I cheered for joy when I read this. I can't wait to essentially buy gold directly from Blizzard.

Another day, another round of major hotfixes. Highlights include:
  • Ghost Wolf modified by Glyph of Ghostly Speed no longer provides a movement speed increase while indoors.
  • Ashran: Fangraal and Kronus no longer scales their health based the number of players they're fighting. Each faction guardian's health now scales based on the number of enemy players active at the time when they're summoned.
  • Based on player feedback, a number of adjustments have been made to Alchemy recipes. Combat potion recipes no longer requires Crescent Oil and meat/fish, and will require herbs instead. Flask recipes now use more herbs, increasing the number of herbs needed from one type of herb to two.
  • Based on player feedback, a number of adjustments have been made to Jewelcrafting recipes. Tier 1 gem recipes now requires more ore and less herbs. Tier 2 gem recipes will no longer requires herbs and instead require a tier 1 gem.

In what seems like part of an antiquated system that's outlived its usefulness, the Death Knight creation restriction of needing a level 55 character or higher previously on the account is going away. This is mildly significant in that now a new player can create an account, load up a Death Knight, and jump right into Burning Crusade content. But obviously with the level 90 boost, there's more incentive for new players to skip even that bit and go right into Draenor.

At the end of the day, is this really a big deal? Not so much. But it's interesting, nonetheless.

With availability of the level 90 character boost, we feel the requirement to have a character level 55 or higher to unlock the Death Knight as a playable class is no longer relevant. The plan right now is to remove the limitation sometime next week, at which point players will be able to start a new Death Knight (which still begins at level 55) without first having to reach level 55 on another character.

A new round of hot fixes is out for WoD, including some major changes to key garrison buildings (or at least key as in buildings that are wanted). Highlights include:
  • Menagerie Level 3: Reduced the number of pet battle wins needed for the Draenic Pet Battler achievement from 500 to 150.
  • Conquest Garrison Missions have been disabled temporarily from the pool of available missions for players that are eligible to receive them.
  • Molten Core -- Trash mobs like Ancient Core Hounds and Lava Surgers no longer respawn.
  • Conquest Points have been converted into Honor Points before the start of the season.
  • Level-up items created by professions no longer use reagents that required a daily cooldown to create and are no longer soulbound. To compensate for this change, basic reagent requirements have been increased and vendor buyback price for those items have been reduced now that they're less rare.

As we play through Draenor and start getting a closer look at things, we're able to better tell how the systems will play out. One of the more interesting, and new, dynamics in the game is the garrisons -- they're giving advancement paths that haven't existed in WoW before, and as with anything, the first release of these advancement paths tends to be a bit... bumpy.

Take, for instance, the level 3 Storehouse. For those of you who haven't looked into this building yet, it provides you with bank access and +5 work orders at tier 1, guild bank access at tier 2, and finally transmogrification and void storage access at tier 3. Quite the useful building to have in your town. Couple that with a close-by auction house that you can make and you've got yourself a very ideal place to wage your economic transactions.

Tier 1 and Tier 2 are purchasable, so it's not a big deal to get those. As with all tier 3 plans, however, you need to do something else. These particular plans are tied to the achievement Got Money on My Draenor Mind. You need to loot 10,000 gold in Draenor to get the achievement. And that looting means very strictly picking up the gold from dead monsters. Not from selling items, not from lucrative garrison missions, not from quests -- just picking up gold from dead monsters.

There is a new build tonight that Blizzard just pushed up to the servers. It requires a very small patch, and as of right now if you haven't shut down your Battle.net Desktop Client, you're going to get an "incompatible version" error without being prompted to patch the game.

To solve this you'll need to fully exit the Battle.net client and restart it. The easiest way to exit the client, from Windows, is to right click on the tray icon and select "Exit." Once you open the client back up WoW will patch itself to version 19116 (down from 19227, interestingly), and you'll be back in business.

Blizzard has just published the new models for the Blood Elves. The models were not originally included with the release of Warlords of Draenor. Blizzard delayed the model to make it as good as possible, and we're finally seeing some of those results. We don't have an exact release date for the new models to appear in-game, however Blizzard notes that the creation process has been streamlined and they hope to have them out soon.

Hold on to your elf ears! The Blood Elf model preview will be coming to an internet near you tomorrow, Tuesday, November 24. A tweet from the new @WarcraftDevs (which you should all be following) let us know about the impending release earlier today.

The Blood Elf model is the last model we've been waiting for. It got delayed from WoD's release because of reasons that have never really been fully spelled out. But nonetheless, Blizzard is delivering on their promise to get it out with a patch shortly after release... so stay tuned!
