We've been following the progress of this product since its premature leak back in February, through the community voting process to choose the play pieces, and the reveal of whose faces will grace the big bills. Very rarely do we get to watch the development process of a licensed product so closely, so it's a pleasure to now hold the actual product in our hands.

Of course, the best way to celebrate getting our hands on the product is to immediately give it to someone else. That's exactly what we're going to do to bring the month of May to a close. EVE talks smack about Diablo III's login woes
EVE Online is letting the trash-talk fly at the newly launched Diablo III by displaying the message "37...3007...315300." It's code for "Play EVE. Servers are up, login is fine" on the game's login screen. This, of course, is making reference to the myriad error codes that Diablo III players experienced over the course of the game's launch.

These guys actually get into what's going on, as opposed to most of the current player races, which lack much facial rigging at all.

That emotion extends to the male pandaren voice emotes, which were added to the game files in the latest Mists beta patch. MMO-Champion's video, embedded above, displays all of these emotes quite well. Who knew pandaren were so good at begging for mercy?

Social media speculation lays blame at the feet of Diablo III, but judging by my barbarian's continued ability to run roughshod over Azmodan's legions, that may not be the case -- the Diablo III service appears to be operating perfectly fine.

Of course, the possibility remains that some aspect of Diablo III's current operations is placing excessive strain on other areas of Battle.net's infrastructure, and the targeted blame may yet be accurate. We have yet to see a statement from Blizzard on the downtime, but we will update you as soon as we do.

Update: The game-side issue appears to be an issue with the login server. If you are already logged into World of Warcraft ... don't log off if you want to keep playing!

Update #2: The Battle.net downtime appears to have been resolved.

A three-man team from Method scored the world-first Skeleton King kill on Inferno. For those wholly unfamiliar with Diablo, that means they killed the first boss of the game on the most challenging difficulty level available.

A WoW raiding team moving into competitive Diablo is something we found surprising. Dedicated gaming is in the blood of these players, so maybe it really shouldn't be surprising.

What we're really curious to see is how many hardcore WoW raiding teams will jump on the Blizzard All-Stars bandwagon when that game launches, too. Will Blizzard All-Stars support that sort of competition when it launches? Will we see a real e-sports scene grow from it, like League of Legends currently supports? And if so, will the World of Warcraft community latch onto that, or will it be an entirely new audience?

When we first mentioned that we would be providing some coverage of Blizzard's point-and-click dungeoneering action title, one of the first requests we received was a guide to Diablo basics. How do you play the game? What does it have in common with WoW?

We have you covered.

The core of Diablo gameplay is the mouse click. You do everything from combat to looting to movement with your mouse, and your interactions with your keyboard are extremely minimal overall. On Twitter recently, I noticed many people mentioning they were buying a new mouse specifically to use with Diablo III -- and that's not a bad idea. No, we're not talking a brand new $80 Razer Naga; we're talking some $10 to $15 thing you can pick up off of a department store shelf. You want a mouse that you're not going to mourn when your buttons inevitably give out from the mountain of abuse you're about to unleash upon them. Grab something cheap and disposable so that when it dies, you will consider it a victory -- just another technological corpse for the bone pile.

I think I might be a bad person to answer this question. The whole hoarding hunter pets thing is totally bizarre to me. Aren't you guys supposed to be bonding with your closest companion, not piling a thousand wild animals in a barn? That can't be healthy. Those animals are probably forced to stand in their own filth all day long while you're out having adventures. Do you ever stop and clean them? Do you take them all out for exercise? Do you even feed them? I don't think so. You hunters are all terrible. I'm pretty sure you can get arrested for that sort of thing.

That being said ... Blizzard might do it one day, I guess? The devs haven't said anything about it, but I think they grasp that WoW players have a weird pet/mount obsession going on and have been willing to cater to it so far.

At the end of days, the first sign shall appear in the heavens. Justice shall fall upon the world of men.

At midnight tonight, Diablo III launches in North America. Other regions aren't far behind (or ahead, as the case may be). The number of World of Warcraft players who will be playing Diablo tonight is astronomical; more than one million Annual Pass subscribers will be receiving the game, and countless more will be purchasing Diablo III on its own simply because it's a good game.

The Real ID and BattleTag systems have brought these games' audiences closer together than they have ever been. With all of that in mind, we here at WoW Insider feel that we would be doing our readers a disservice if we didn't provide content that will help all of you ease yourselves into your brand new game. For the next two days, you're going to see a number of Diablo-related articles and guides here on our site mixed in with our usual WoW stuff. In the long term, we plan to continue to cover major general Blizzard news from all of its games as we've always done (see our recent Blizzard All-Stars news), and the next 48 hours or so will be a little bit heavier on it than you may be used to seeing. We hope that you'll enjoy what we have to offer.

However, if you're the sort of person who has absolutely no interest in Diablo, if the mere mention of the game makes you sick to your stomach and you don't want to see anything on our site but World of Warcraft, we have a solution for you. For the next two days, all of our World of Warcraft content will be tagged "not-diablo." To filter out all of our Diablo content, just go to this link here for the next couple of days for content that's 100% Diablo-free. Treat that as our front page for awhile. Come Wednesday, though, make sure to come back to our real front page -- we won't use that tag forever, just during this Diablo blitz.

It's a complicated issue that's been summed up very well by Joystiq's JC Fletcher: "Which giant company has the rights to the fan-created, community-promoted word 'Dota?'"

As of today, it turns out Valve has those rights. The two giant companies have amicably settled the issue amongst themselves. Valve will release its DOTA title as Dota 2, and Blizzard will release its as Blizzard All-Stars. Personally, I'm a bigger fan of All-Stars, anyway. It gives the name some real flavor and, as stated by Blizzard VP Rob Pardo, "ultimately better reflects the design of our game."

Of course, regardless of the decisions made here, the fan community will inevitably continue calling this genre of games DOTA or some variation thereof. If you care to read the full press release regarding this agreement, hop behind the cut below.

It seems as if Mists of Pandaria is going to be fixing that issue in a big way: Blizzard has just announced cross-realm zones.


Cross-Realm Zones Coming to Beta
In the World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria beta, we're introducing a new technology that will enable players to meet up and group with other players in under populated areas of the world such as low level zones or areas that other players may have outleveled or moved on from. This technology will allow players to form a group with other players from within a select pool of realms in order to quest just like they normally would while still allowing the social structures of their home realms to remain intact.

Those interactions were infrequent but memorable -- who doesn't want to assassinate cultists alongside Mathias Shaw? As the war between the Alliance and the Horde ratchets up, SI:7 is absolutely one of the groups that needs to be in on the action, so I was pleased as punch to see them on the shores of Pandaria.

While Mathias Shaw himself isn't on Pandaria, players are introduced to a new cast of SI:7 agents representing nearly the entire spread of Alliance races. Even the draenei have signed on this time around. Hit the cut below to meet the cast.

Male pandaren dance the shuffle from LMFAO's Party Rock Anthem. Female pandaren mix the infamous Caramelldansen and the dance from Haruhi Suzumiya's outro theme, Hare Hare Yukai.

Edit: I may be wrong about Hare Hare Yukai. Forgive me, I only have so much knowledge of weird anime dances.

Test realms are updated all the time. However, Quality Assurance Representative Sapperwix confirmed on the beta forums that today's patch will increase the currently available level cap to 88 and introduce two new dungeons that we haven't yet had an opportunity to test. Pet Battles, however, have not yet been re-enabled.

According to a tweet by community manager Zarhym, the dungeons opening up this afternoon are Mogu'shan Palace and the Shado-Pan Monastery. Keep an eye on WoW Insider -- we'll supply you with all of the details as they become available.

My favorite beta bug is from the Wrath of the Lich King beta. The little stairs directly in front of the barbershop in Dalaran weren't solid. Any players trying to get into the barbershop to try out the new hairstyles would fall through the floor down through all of Dalaran, get dropped out of the bottom and fall to their death thousands of feet below the city.

Remember, the barbershop was a brand new feature in Wrath. Everybody wanted to check out the new hairstyles. The pile of bones was absolutely massive. Have you ever seen that old picture of a guy standing on a mountain of buffalo skulls? It was kind of like that.

Worse, you don't get to meet Wrathion the Purified, Deathwing's son, at all. This has been an ongoing problem with legendary quest chains specific to certain classes or roles, but Blizzard has provided a solution this time around.

Blizzard has released a series of videos detailing the events that occur throughout the Fangs of the Father quest chain. Even better, the entire recap is narrated by Wrathion himself, describing the events of the quest chain from his perspective. The entire thing is capped off with an insinuation that we just might run into Deathwing's heir beyond the mists of the sea.

You can watch the first part embedded above and the following three parts either on Battle.net or behind the cut below. In addition to the videos, Battle.net offers a list of the first 100 people to complete their Fangs in each world region.

I am looking forward to the release of Mists of Pandaria. Especially the new Pandaren race. As far as new races being a potential new addition, do you think they will introduce any new races in future expansions or do you think this is probably it? I don't realistically see naga or murlocs being playable races. Something I thought would be pretty neat would be a character that could go from humanoid form to dragon. Like humans transform to worgen. Perhaps even a dragon in a humanoid form maybe. Just thoughts.

I'm sure Blizzard will add more races to the game eventually. When? Who knows. Personally, I think it's futile to try and guess what those races may be based on what's in the game right now -- Blizzard can add pretty much whatever it wants, whenever it wants.

What I'd like to see is some race of plant people. I don't know why. I have a bizarre fascination with plant-y races in fiction, be it myconids from Dungeons & Dragons, sporeloks from The Burning Crusade, or Guild Wars 2's sylvari. Plant people, please!

Agents of SI:7 have infiltrated Ragefire Chasm with the aid of a gnome sorceress. While the Alliance agents in the dungeon don't know what's going on down there or why, SI:7 is sure nothing good can come of it. You're tasked with rescuing a handful of the agents who came before you and putting a stop to whatever mischief the new "dark shaman" are embroiled in.

They're vanity-only items meant for use with transmogrification, and they looked way awesome. Thankfully, we have Wowhead and Wowhead News around to show us most of the sets we didn't get to see.

I'm a sucker for winged armor, so the paladin set (embedded above) is my favorite by far. The shoulders on the rogue set are fantastic, and the shaman set seems tailor-made for trolls. Unfortunately the mage, warlock, warrior, and monk sets are still missing from the lineup, so we'll need to keep an eye out for those in future beta patches.

You can see a sampler of the currently available armor sets in the gallery below, but I do highly recommend checking out the 3D model viewer over at Wowhead as well. Wowhead has a whole slew of other models you should check out at the same time, such as mounts, more weapons, and miscellaneous quest reward gear sets.

MMO-Champion has posted a dump of many of the new art icons coming in this expansion. The art by itself isn't necessarily news, but the file names of those icons reveal some fun (if minor) details about upcoming content.

For one, the icons include the names of the new ores and metals: Ghost Iron and Manticyte. There are also icons for new class spells such as the paladin's Holy Avenger and the rogue's updated poisons -- not to mention the icons for new gear, new achievements, and the pet types in the upcoming Pet Battle feature. The pet types appear to be critter, dragon, elemental, flying, humanoid, magical, mechanical, undead, and water.

What do you think? Is this corruption self-influenced and based solely on his character, or are there external powers involved? Like, old gods invading RFC and mindcontrolling him from down there? Or is the Burning Blade at work again?

In our back room office talk here at WoW Insider, I've been betting all along that Garrosh is going to go the route of demon blood again. The entire Horde talks up Grom Hellscream's heroic sacrifice, how he's one of the greatest warriors to have ever lived, that Garrosh should be proud of him ... that whole thing. Yeah, Grom had a glorious, heroic death, but it came after years and years of doing horrible, horrible things under demonic influence -- which he voluntarily accepted.

While there are over a million Annual Pass subscribers eagerly awaiting their chance to get into the beta, the developers may still need a more diverse spread of testers throughout the beta.

To opt in, you will need a Battle.net account with at least one Blizzard game attached to it -- I'm sure everyone reading this has one of those, right? You can read the full FAQ on Battle.net or behind the cut below.

This FAQ does detail how and when Annual Pass holders will be entering the beta, so those of you who have signed up for that should take a look.

We all knew what sorts of features were coming our way in Mists of Pandaria -- we've known that since BlizzCon -- but yesterday was the first day we were actually able to discuss the content that will be utilizing those features. What do you think? Are you looking forward to seeing it all in action? Are you still ambivalent on the whole thing?

Personally, I can't wait until the beta rolls around. What was playable at the press event seemed pretty darn far along in development, so that beta can't be very far away. I would be surprised if it there were more than a month between now and the beta testing, and I would even expect it sooner than that. Mists of Pandaria already seems much further along in development than Wrath of the Lich King or Cataclysm were when they entered beta.

The sooner the beta rolls along, the better. I'd love to take another crack at the Temple of the Jade Serpent and show the Sha of Doubt what's what.

Today's screenshot shows a statue honoring one of the first pandaren explorers to venture beyond the borders of Pandaria and his riding turtle, which would eventually grow to become the Wandering Isle, the pandaren starting zone.
