Whether it's a plate-tossing tune or an orcish battle chant, the world of Tolkien is rife with music. Even Game of Thrones has more than a few ditties, even if you need to be a little creative to find them. But we don't have that some musical background in WoW.

Don't get me wrong: WoW has some fantastic theme music. Between the Arkenstone-penned backgrounds or thematic zone music, Azeroth has plenty of musical ambiance. But it doesn't have a lot of songs with lyrics, or folk tunes, or those little sing-along moments that make a world so vibrant. You have to reach for filk or machinima to get much of that. And sure, there's the Chieftans but that's not quite the same as "music of the world."

The game references music, though. It's out there. So, I ask you, dear breakfast readers, to put fingers to keyboards and try out your Azerothian muse. What's the music you would add to game? Is it just battle chants? What about something with a nice flute? What would the music of Azeroth sound like?

It was one of the early generation of very long, story-driven machinima. Created in part for a contest, this version of Resurrection ran a mere 10 minutes. But if you liked it, then Bear on a Trampoline (the creator) suggested you check out the full half-hour version. 30 minutes is a long time for a machinima, but it was generally worth your time.

Resurrection was recommended for a re-feature by ArcVekter, who recalls it as one of the first machinima that inspired his love of the game. So whether you're seeing it for the first time, or checking it out again 6 years later, kick back and enjoy the upcoming Resurrection.

In it, Garrosh desperately tries to convinced the harried, oppressed members of the Horde that everything's fine. Nobody's beating a rebellious path to Orgrimmar, bent on the complete dispossession of the standing despot. Nope, it's just a little thing off in a distant land, nothing to worry about here.

I enjoyed the video, and I think it's a good idea. The only thing that distracted me was Garrosh's voice. When you use a comedic voice, you generally do it to make the character somewhat a buffoon. I had the sense that the video might have been a little better played straight, with the idea that Garrosh was actually trying to convince us that everything's fine.

"Also," the blood elf interjected, "it'd be good camouflage for infiltrating Silithus. It's a harsh helmet. A bug helmet."

Item Note: While the Grievous Gladiator's Dragonhide Helm obviously looked pretty good, I can't help but dwell on its beetle-like nature. I think this might be my favorite druid hat since the days of the moose horns.

That hollow, Darth-esque echo lends a creepy underpinning to the characters. Episode 3 of Nobody's Quest opens up with that subject and then plunges back into the story.

I'm digging how NinthBatter is stepping into character development. Exposition and exploration can be important parts of a character's life. But rather than get trapped in the sticky mess of exposition, Ninth immediately launches into a plot twist and story progression. All in all, I like where this series is going and I keep looking forward to each installment.

As the story goes, a commenter challenged the guild to create a music video to the song. Off the Air knocked this out of the park. The video is huge fun, complete with a dancing troupe of orcs carrying the chorus. Whether or not the challenge was actually intended to be difficult, Off the Air used it to create one of their best videos yet. So kick back, have some fun, and lament the pants-borne squirrels that are plaguing Azeroth.

Lock Candy is well-performed, solidly written, and excellently animated. The video is long enough to be fulfilling without running so long that you get bored of the schtick. Letomi's vocals are tone perfect to the playful spirit, and Khayllys shows off some snazzy graphic skills. All in all, Lock Candy is one of the best music videos I've seen in a while.

Technically, a lot about the video is fantastic. The dialogue, story frame, and use of graphics are all fairly solid. The audio is crisp and clear; you'll have no trouble following what the narrator is saying. The video is sharp and you can make out the action clearly.

The down side is that it's slow. The video takes a little over a minute before any audio is introduced and all the pacing moves at a glacial pace. I like the farm diary feel but it really needs a sharper sense of humor or a stronger point to pay off the time you listen.

All in all, I think Tony could go somewhere and make further videos, but the plot and pace could use some work. Remember that a machinima audience can get bored within 10 seconds. It's hard to watch a long, slower video for nearly 7 minutes, even if the technicals are good.

They were certainly not arguing about whether the campfire would be suitable replacement for Garrosh and they definitely weren't discussing the basic campfire's ignominious transformation into a simple cooking fire. But both Throgg and Lolegolas pulled up short when the clearing suddenly filled with a viscous, gray smoke.

"I am the Horror that flaps in the night," a mysterious voice paraphrased. "I am the campfire that cooks your goose."

Throgg stood, wrapping his sinewed hand around his polearm handle. "Show yourself."

A vast druid-hawk appeared in the circle. In another moment, it disappeared in a puff of smoke, replaced by a huge, smiling worgen.

"I am not Spot!" The worgen grinned again. "Sorry, when I saw you wielding Bo-Ris, I couldn't help myself."

Throgg dropped the weapon on the ground as he embraced the druid in a mammoth hug. "It's mostly for mogging," Throgg expositioned. "Strength polearms are so rare."

"How did you find us?" Lolegolas asked incredulously. "We thought we'd lost you months ago."

"That, my friends," the druid said, "is a much, much longer story. Before we begin... do you have any ale? I'm parched."

Item Note: In fact, not only is the polearm one of the very few Strength polearms ever to see Azeroth, it looks pretty cool. Of course, you can do better for weapons now, but make sure to grab one for your undergeared alts.

I feel like Wowcrendor's style influenced SlightlyImpressive, though obviously Griff has grown into his own ensemble-featuring thing. And now we end up with Misty the Troll's.

The video feels like a Wowcrendor-style video, which isn't really a bad thing. The comedy's basically effective and the in-game graphics get the job done. But I'd encourage Misty to keep going and grow his own voice, which is where you'll really find success. For now, though, What are Warlock's Demons Thinking? is a fun video with which to kill a few minutes.

While the plot doesn't leap forward in this video, NinthBatter takes the time grow the characters and expand on his universe. It's an important part of the overall journey, I think, so we can hope it's time well spent.

Ninth has said that this series is growing his respect for the machinimators who perform complex animation. Fight scenes, especially, are a pain in the neck to get right. While that may be true, Nobody's Quest sees a lot of benefit from the exemplary voice acting. You can't undervalue how important skillful and convincing voices are to a machinima.

Still one of my favorite pieces of machinima ever. Partially because I really loved the original iteration of the Pamela storyline in Eastern Plaguelands (the Cataclysm version is okay, but holds nowhere near the same emotion and depth as the original), mostly because the song he wrote for the piece is such a lovely, haunting tune. It's a perfect accompaniment to one of the creepiest, saddest, yet oddly touching quest chains in WoW. The video may be a bit outdated by today's standards of machinima creation, but honestly, this piece, to me, is the one where Cranius pretty much proved hands down that anything he puts his voice to immediately turns to gold.

I think Anne did an excellent job describing the video, though I think I disagree about it being outdated. All of the game's graphics show their age, even the ones run through advanced filters. I think, ultimately, a machinima is about the story and content, not the graphics. Darrowshire is stronger for the in-game graphics.

He has a noble name that sounds very elf-like without being something silly like Lolegolas or McBlasty. But that wasn't always the case. I didn't think I'd enjoy playing a hunter and I had no expectation that he'd make it long.

I rolled a night elf (I thought 'Dark Elf' at the time), realized he could use two weapons, and named him... Drizzsst. You know. Like Do'Urden. He may have had a Tauren lover that I also rolled named Cattlebree. We had a guild named Underdim. Don't judge me, man, I was only going to play them a little while.

But it turned out that I really liked my hunter (including a bat named Bruce) and I played him bunches. And he quickly became my favorite character, even gaining the Lieutenant rank in the old battlegrounds. And I played on a RP server. So you can see the problem. Awesome character, horrible name.

The Name Change service fixed all that for me. What about you? What horrible character decisions did you come to regret later in life? Was it a bad name? Or, perhaps, a beard that seemed noble on the dwarf, until you realize it stuck oddly through every helmet and chestpiece you would ever own. Share your painful, irony stories in the comments!

At first, I thought my regrets at Vanessa's death centered on losing a cool NPC. But the conversation's been on my mind and I kept mulling it over. And then the real reason Vanessa's death bothered me finally became clear.

Vanessa VanCleef was the story the Alliance needed, and it was the one we deserved. Vanessa VanCleef's story was amazing. We need the VanCleefs back.

I'll summarize the story for folks who maybe don't read quests or play Alliance. But keep in mind: all of this played out in World of Warcraft. You didn't need to play any game besides WoW or read anything except quests to see this entire story.

In reality, the bat faceplanted into a bush with the grace of a hyperactive dwarf.

"What was that all about?" Lolegolas asked, watching the hefty orc pick himself up from the ground.

"Still getting the hang of that," Throgg muttered, swatting an errant leaf from his sinewed thigh. "Handles a little tight. The echo-location must be off. Which is funny because you wouldn't think locating echoes would be difficult for a bat."

For its part, the bat seemed nonplussed.

"Seriously, Throgg," the blood elf countered. "What in the heck is that thing?"

"What? Are you Alliance? Are you a gnome or something? What in the Twisting Nether do you think it is?" Throgg asked incredulously. "It's an Elune-praised bat mount."

"Thanks for that," Lolegolas muttered. "There's bound to be bat-complaints now."

The first episode is only a few minutes long, but Ninth already has six episodes in the can. Keep checking back every week for the new episode. Hopefully, this kind of story video will get fans excited and we'll see many more in the future. My hat's off to Ninth Batter for reinvigorating this method of storytelling.

Working with a psychiatrist, Mr. You Are Not Prepared relates the harshest moments in WoW melodrama in Lore According to Illidan. While I feel like the script could use a little bit of editing, this is a solid new format. My hat's off to Slightly Impressive for the idea.

The animation is pretty good, although the framing of Illidan on a couch didn't work super well. The overall approach works great, though, so I'm eager to see our gnome become a universal psychiatrist. I think she could really do Arthas some good.

For all that it's full of gothic imagery and moody images, I still love the vision of 3 blood elf angels floating in mid-air. Call me a sucker, but it's still one of my favorite tiny bits of machinima. All that being said, this video is 5 years old. It's just amazing how time flies.

Ian Beckman is a man who delivers. Whether it's a surprising range of comedic voice acting or solid graphics that deliver the funny, his machinima always serves up more than a few laughs. Guards 3 continues to lampoon COPS in this wild World of Warcraft.

I like how the small vignette turns into a larger story, and I'll admit the final bit was my favorite. Whether that's because I harbor my own angst about the king, or just because it was the most straightforward joke, the utter defeat of the villain serves as warning to anyone who gets a name wrong.

But the interactive video just reached a major milestone: Tinkerbottom now must suffer a consequence.

If you've not been following along, the premise is fairly simple. The videos focus on Tinkerbottom and the choices he faces. Commenters basically vote or suggest what his action will be. It's like a crowdsourced Which Way book with a video component. All in all, it's a pretty interesting experiment and definitely worth your time to check out.
