It kicked off this relationship at BlizzCon with a life-size Thrall statue made out of Mega Bloks, allowing fans to pose with the blocky former Warchief of the Horde. Now, Mega Bloks is asking fans to "channel their inner Thrall" for a chance to win a life-size Doomhammer made out of Mega Bloks. You can enter right now by submitting a photo with one (or more, ostensibly) of the following conditions:
  • Pose like Thrall (Stand proud, warrior!)
  • Pose as Thrall (cosplay)
  • Pose with Thrall (BlizzCon statue, figure, etc.)
Then ask your friends, guildies and coworkers to vote for your photo when it appears on the contest page. You can also vote for your favorite one (mine is, of course, our good friend Orkchop's) while you're there. The contest ends in a week, though, so you should probably enter it soon if you want to get your hands on that Doomhammer!

In my Asia-inspired continent? It's more likely than you think, according to Blizzard community rep Bashiok. Today, he confirmed on Twitter that the shaggy beasts of burden we saw in Mists of Pandaria preview screenshots will be available as mounts when the expansion hits. What wasn't indicated was whether or not the yaks are the official pandaren mounts; I'm leaning toward no, but we'll see.

We were actually just discussing what the pandaren mount might be when this news came out. Blizzard joked about it at BlizzCon, with its mockup of a pandaren mount as a huge bouncy ball with a seat on top. Mat McCurley's personal opinion is (verbatim) "probably, like, a big frog maybe?" I feel it'll probably be something a little more dignified. Like a rickshaw.
World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria is the next expansion, raising the level cap to 90, introducing a brand new talent system, and bringing forth the long-lost pandaren race to both Horde and Alliance. Check out the trailer and follow us for all the latest MoP news!

With the arrival of account-wide achievements, do you think Blizzard will add something where our achievement points have some in game effect? For example, special vendors that will only sell to you if you have greater than 3000 achievement points, another vendor that will sell different items if you have over 5000, etc...

Like I said on the podcast recently, I've learned never to say never about anything Blizzard could possibly do in relation to WoW, but the devs have stated several times that they never intended for achievement points to be a real currency. So, I doubt it, but with account-wide achievements and other systems changes coming with MoP, we'll just have to wait and see.

Very happy that they are going to allow achievements account-wide. It will definitely help me towards playing different characters more often.

What achievement are you MOST proud of? Mine is still Loremaster, as it was pre-Cata, and took a very long time to do. Though once I get What a Long, Strange Trip It's Been in May for finishing Children's Week, that will be up there also.

Personally, my favorite achievement is Glory of the Ulduar Raider (10-man). It was the first time I had really been involved with progression raiding when it was relevant; we had a dedicated group, and we all worked hard to clear that place every week until we did it, and we were still up there in terms of timing. It was my first and really only experience raiding at that level. I've raided before, but not really with a purpose. I saw that rusted proto-drake and knew it had to be mine, so I did it.

No, I think the devs' stated reasoning was honest: They know that, after seven years, you're probably going to have a bunch of achievements on a guy you don't feel like playing as much anymore, but you keep playing because that's the guy with all the achievements. Making achievements account-wide means that you don't need to play the guy you hate just to maintain momentum (and a title you like that you can't get anymore).

The Annual Pass's benefits are pretty alluring -- you get the standard digital download edition of Diablo 3 for free, as well as the Tyrael's Charger mount for your WoW character. It's likely that other benefits will be added to the pass over time, too. All you have to do in return is agree to pay for a year of WoW. The "agreement" itself doesn't appear to be legally binding, in that you can still cancel your subscription, at which point Blizzard will remove the benefits you received, no harm done.

What makes the Annual Pass so interesting, though, is that it's actually a better deal for Blizzard than it is for the players. With the past few quarterly subscriber number drops interpreted as doom and gloom by outsiders, Blizzard needed a way to make sure that those numbers either increased or at least stopped slipping. With Diablo III and more Starcraft II on the horizon, not to mention other potential MMO threats, it was vital that Blizzard figure out a way to keep people paying even if they weren't playing. The Annual Pass, with its attachment of a "free" game, did the job perfectly. Blizzard gets to look good to its investors and umbrella company, and a million of you get a horse and a hack-and-slasher.

Blizzard has been incrementally increasing WoW's system requirements with each expansion, so it's safe to assume that MoP will require even more muscle than Cataclysm did. I don't think it's been announced just how much more muscle, but if you had trouble running Cataclysm, you're going to have trouble with MoP.

My main is a resto druid. Lifebloom triggers Replenishment and I keep a stack of Lifebloom on a tank for, ideally, the whole fight. Last night I was in Raid Finder and noticed that Replenishment kept falling off. I would refresh Lifebloom just to make sure, but Replenishment didn't return until some other moment: a moment when I was not casting or refreshing Lifebloom. I'm wondering, is there a priority system that another character is the trigger for Replenishment? With my style of healing, Replenishment should be up the whole fight, but I regularly saw it fall off and was not refreshed at the moment I would have expected.

Commenter metafarm answered this one really well, so here it is for posterity:

It gives 10 party or raid members (with the lowest mana left) 1% of their maximum mana every 10 second for 15 seconds, or 1.5% over the full duration. Each time it is triggered, the 10 most needy members are recalculated, and those people either receive the buff, or have it refreshed on them.

I mean I guess it's kind of cool that we get some new lore on him considering he has just been sitting around doing nothing for the longest time, but I really don't care about what he was doing in the time span between BC, and the launch of WOTLK now that we're almost 3 expansions away from that time period.

A valid question. I'd agree that it does feel a little odd for blood elves to be the only race that didn't get a "new" story, but In the Shadow of the Sun is important for a different reason -- Blizzard just made a writing contest entry canon. It's very rare for something like that to happen in the industry. Sarah deserves a lot of credit for writing a story so good and so in-universe that Blizzard decided it should be part of WoW canon.

As for Lor'themar, well, who knows? Velen got just the smallest amount of presence in Cataclysm; maybe MoP will hold some new developments for Lor'themar.

I don't think there's any doubt that MoP's beta test is going to have a larger pool of testers than we've had in the past, but that also doesn't mean that all of them will be joining the beta at the same time. The Annual Pass agreement doesn't state when you'll be invited to the beta; it only says you will at some point. We'll likely see waves of invites lasting for quite a while before beta ends.

If you haven't been keeping track, this is not a content patch; it just updates some features, fixes some bugs, and adds the new 64-bit client (finally). Also of note: Players can no longer receive two of the same item at the same time when winning loot from a Raid Finder boss, Vengeance no longer acts off player damage, and Aspect of the Hawk got a big ol' buff.

Update: The patch will not be releasing today after all, barring some sort of miracle. Remember, if Blizzard hasn't said it, it isn't guaranteed. Sorry! But heck, why don't you brush up on your patch notes anyway?

Put plainly, I'd be incredibly surprised if we saw another entry into the main Warcraft series while WoW was running. Placing Warcraft 4 right after WoW gives Blizzard very little wiggle room when it comes to the MMO's story, but placing it long after WoW sort of invalidates the MMO's story progress altogether. Essentially: "Here's what's going to happen regardless of how WoW's story plays out."

Of course, I'd love to play as an older Arator the Redeemer or even a King Anduin Wrynn, mind you.

I'm on the fence about some of the Diablo III system changes announced yesterday, but at least half of 'em are pretty good changes, so I'm definitely continuing to look forward to playing my wizard (best class) when the game comes out some time this year.

What do you feel the odds are that Blizzard will still add the older tier content to Raid Finder? Have them on Normal modes, after the nerfs it should be possible for 25 random people to handle these days. I ask because if there really is no more content patches left, that is a long time to go until Mists.

Couldn't say. Blizzard devs have expressed a desire to hook up the Raid Finder to older raids, but with cross-realm raiding, you don't really need the Raid Finder at all for really old raids. For stuff like Firelands or BoT or BWD, I'd imagine there are some issues with figuring out how many people you'd need for a "full" group -- 25 is probably overkill with BoT and BWD when everyone's in 378+ gear from 4.3. And would they need to have a Raid Finder difficulty mode as well? Would you just play them on normal mode? That would defeat the Raid Finder's purpose as raiding with training wheels on. If it did have a Raid Finder mode, what item level gear would drop? 346 would make the raids even more pointless than they already are; leaving them at 359 would mean no difference from the loot that already drops in normal mode.

Lots of considerations; no easy answers. As much as I want people to see previous tiers of raiding, I'm just not sure it's worth development time that could be spent giving us Pandaria, which will ship with all its raids hooked up to the Raid Finder.

Blizzard reps did say that this was the last major content patch before MoP, but I think the wording on those statements has been altered slowly since the patch was originally previewed, so we honestly have no idea at this point. I hope we don't, but only inasmuch as it would mean Pandaria would be here sooner.

As guilds are technically the property of the guild leader, yes, it's allowable to buy them with in-game gold. Just make sure the transaction is documented with in-game chat so GMs can help you out if something goes awry.

I chose a draenei, due to a unique prospect, but I'm a little confused - in Ammen Vale, when you hand the blood elf plans to Vindicator Aldar, he says that the blood elves followed them there.

Followed them from where? Draenor? I thought blood elves didn't go there until after the draenei left?

Kael'thas and his blood elf followers were in Outland after the Third War; they went there with Illidan and Vashj. They took over Tempest Keep, which was the main draenei "ship," and began takeovers of Keep's four satellite ships (the Arcatraz, the Botanica, the Mechanar, and the Exodar). The draenei escaped Outland by flying the Exodar through the Twisting Nether, but blood elf saboteurs caused the ship to crash on Azeroth.

Demon hunters blind themselves to gain access to spectral sight, which allows them to track demons, undead, and other baddies. If I remember correctly, Illidan's case is different, because as the first demon hunter, his eyes were actually burned out by Sargeras to gain the sight. Newer demon hunters perform a ritual that imitates the original action, though obviously not to as great an effect as Illidan.

Honestly, my favorite bug isn't recent at all, and I'm not even sure it exists anymore. It's from launch-era WoW, and it went a little something like this: If you jammed on your strafe keys, moving back and forth mostly in place, you could get your character to stay in one frame of their strafing animation while you moved, and it persisted until you jumped. You could slide around the room like you were ice skating. It was fun. I think it was client-side only, so nearby adventurers couldn't see it, but I could, and it was fun.

My second-favorite bug is easily, easily the Booty Bay Death Grip Wormhole.

My Rogue forgot to spend his VP and today he had 4300 VP. I thought VP capped a 4000. What is the VP cap now, and was it recently changed?

Good question! Valor points have a weekly cap of 1,000, but there's no limit to the number of points you can actually amass at any given time. Conquest points work the same way. Justice points are the only points with that 4k cap. It didn't make a whole lot of sense to cap VP anyway -- while JP accrue really quickly, it takes a while to accumulate enough VP to buy a piece of gear.

Unfortunately, no, Blizzard hasn't said a single thing confirming that it's making those enchants BoA. I wish it would, though, because at this point in the expansion's lifespan, the odds of my going through Therazane's entire quest line again are pretty much nil. It seems odd that the change hasn't already been made. I just know it makes me sad to look at my alt's unenchanted Dragon Soul shoulders.

I expected the body type slider in The Old Republic to maybe increase my female character's muscle mass, but it turns out I could have just removed "muscle m-" from that phrase. Meanwhile, guys get wholly different body types, including a huge, muscle-bound one. Just because it's sci-fi doesn't mean we're free from fantasy body type conventions, apparently.

Between Thrall's downright Alucardian delivery of that line, Tyrande's exotic new accent, Murozond's "I did not know!" and Illidan's "Strike in an area!," 4.3 is a treasure trove of unintentionally hilarious lines.

In End Time last night, our pally tank was doing ridonculous DPS - typically 2nd or 3rd on the meters, in a competent guild group with decent gear. However, when we moved on to Well of Eternity, the tank's DPS dropped to a more normal level.

Is there a buff for tanks in End Time that I missed? Was it an anomaly? Did the slight Ret pally buffs really make that big a difference for Prot pallys?

If you guys fought Baine, it's possible that your tank was affected by Molten Fists, the buff that you get from being in the lava during the Baine encounter. My rogue was pulling insane DPS in that fight, thanks to that buff.

And Murozond, well ... Murozond lets you use all the cooldowns you want, basically. I can't recall off hand what DPS cooldowns non-ret paladins have available to them, but he could have been popping them.

There's been no indication whatsoever, either from Blizzard or from PTR datamining, that it'll be possible to prospect epic gems from Pyrium Ore. At this very moment, it seems that geodes are the only way to get 'em.

That's up to you, really! Remember that raiding guilds tend to raid during their particular time zone's prime time, which can vary depending on your realm, so keep that in mind if you want to raid and have a work schedule or other temporal concerns. Also keep in mind that server latency will vary depending on the server's location, which you can at least partially determine based on the server's time zone.

The old world tabards (Main Faction city tabards) work in all old world dungeons, all wrath dungeons except those flagged as a lvl 80 dungeon (any wrath dungeons except Occulus, HoL, UP, CoS, ToC, FoS, PoS, HoR), and any pre-85 Cata dungeon (all Cata dungeons except Lost City, HoO, and GB). Wrath faction tabards work in the dungeons flagged as lvl 80 dungeons and Wrath heroics, Cata faction tabards work in Cata dungeons flagged as level 85, and all Cata heroics.

No, they're not. Draenor, however, is suspended in the Twisting Nether, which is not actually space; it's a collection of powerful energies, a sort of a pocket dimension that touches lots of other worlds and points in space. Unstable as it is, there are places where if you're in the Nether itself, you can see through it to other points in the universe. The Black Temple courtyard is one of those places.

You will see loot drops the first time you kill a boss every week and if you don't win anything, you either have to do the regular or heroic versions - but you can still go back and get more time in on the boss or help friends or whatever, right?

Correct. You'll see loot the first time you kill a boss in Raid Finder. You will not see loot on any Raid Finder attempt at the same boss after that until weekly resets. You're welcome to run the raid as many times as you like in Raid Finder difficulty, but you only see loot once.

Archetypal fantasy monks, like the kind you see in D&D or EverQuest or any other fantasy RPG, can wear leather armor. You have to keep in mind that these are warrior monks. We're not talking St. Francis here.

And spell plate is the reason why monks won't have a special kind of armor all to themselves. It's a massive headache.
