Cut a length of thread from an alternate color and lay over the crochet at the beginning of the round.
When you finish each round of rows 8 - 17, flip the counting thread up and over the finished row.

Attach 12mm safety eye to the center of each circle.
Place a firm ball of poly-fill stuffing behind the eye.
With needle and thread, sew the eye to the side of the head so they bug menacingly. - Front Legs
Make two front legs.
Ch 3, join with a slst to form a ring
1. Ch 4, then sc back down the last 3 stitches of chain to make first finger.
2. Slst in next ch on ring.
3. Ch4, then sc back down the last 3 stitches of chain to make second finger.
4. Slst in next ch on ring.
5. Ch 4, then sc back down the last 3 stitches of chain to make third finger. - Front Legs
Rnd 1: Sc in each of the slst in the ring - 3 sc
Rnd 2: 2 Sc in each sc of ring - 6 sc

At this point, you are going to start the thigh circle.
Rnd 1: Work a sc in next 3 sc of leg to start thigh ring
Rnd 2: Chain 18 and join with slst to first of the 3 sc in above round - 21 chain and sc combined. - Back Legs
Rnd 3: Sc in each stitch around - 21 sc
Rnd 4: *Sc2tog, sc in next sc. Repeat from * around - 14 sc
Rnd 5: *Sc2tog. Repeat from * around - 7 sc
Rnd 6. Sc2tog (3 times), slst last stitch
Fasten off and weave in end. - Back Legs
Stuff the leg with poly fill stuffing.
With needle and thread, sew the leg portion to the underside of the murloc.
Place a firm ball of poly fill stuffing behind thigh portion to give him some muscle.
With needle and thread, sew the thigh portion to the side of the murloc. - Tail
Chain 2
Rnd 1: Work 4 sc in second chain from hook. Place a marker to indicate beg of rnd; move marker as each rnd is completed.
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around - 8 sc
Rnd 3: 2sc in each sc around - 16 sc
Fold circle in half, so last row is at the top.
Sc in both sides across the circle - 8 sc
Take a length of pipe cleaner the length of the 8 sc and lay it across the last row.
2sc in each sc across - AROUND THE PIPE CLEANER. (You want to completely cover the pipe cleaner, so use your judgment if you need 2 or 3 sc in each sc) - Tail
Cut off ends and weave in under pipe cleaner.
Be sure that the ends of the pipe cleaner are not sticking out. - Tail
With needle and thread, sew the small end of the tail to the back side of the murloc.
Flat, pipe cleaner end will be away from the body. - Spines
Cut 6 lengths of pipe cleaner approximately 3 inches long (8 cm.)
Cut 1 length of pipe cleaner approximately 2 1/2 inches long (7 cm.)
Fold over a small length of the pipe cleaner, no more than 1/2 inch. (1.5 cm) - Spines
For each length of pipe cleaner (working top to bottom):
1. Using the Hot Green Cotton, sc at the pipe cleaner fold, catching the yarn around the pipe cleaner.
2. Now push the folded part down tightly, twisting slightly to secure.
3. Sc down the length of the pipe cleaner, taking care to cover it completely.

Push the bottom into one of the spaces between stitches and secure to body with needle and thread in matching color.

1. Smallest spine goes directly between the eyes.
2. Place 3 of the larger spines down one side of the body and the other 3 directly opposite.

1. From black and white felt, cut a smile shape 2 1/2 inches long (6 cm) and 3/4" tall (2 cm).
2. Trim the white smile so it is just a bit smaller than the black smile. - Mouth
3. Using black DMC #310 embroidery floss stitch a sharp zig-zag pattern, securing the white felt to the black. Murlocs have a LOT of teeth, so don't be shy giving him a lot!

4. Sew the smile to the Murloc's face in the front, just below the eyes. See picture for placement.
