We posted an update on Noor the Pacifist, our very first 15 Minutes of Fame subject, just last month after he dinged 70 and was preparing to head to Northrend -- yes, all without killing anything to gain xp. "Unlike most other players, leveling as a pacifist got faster once I hit 70 because of all the new daily quests, which is the main way I can 'grind' XP," writes Noor. "Every new level or two has added more dailies, and at 75, I'm near the limit of 25 dailies per day, going up a level every five days or so. I should hit 80 sometime in January. Not many plans after hitting 80 -- there isn't much of an endgame for pacifists. I'll make a Mekgineer's Chopper and try to get the Salty title, but aside from that, there isn't a lot to do ..."

Auden of the wry and witty Hammer of Grammar and her partner in crime Gweryc (yeah, the melee hunter guy) made us chuckle over the little things that endear the game world to us. Today, Auden and Gweryc are collaborating on a project of another type: a baby! "Gweryc contributed half of the startup components, but I'll be doing the bulk of the development work during the current internal alpha, which we expect will take approximately nine months to complete," writes Auden. "We're hoping to move to an external beta around June 28th." Will we see more Hammer of Grammar? "Not ruling the possibility out, but I've been really strapped for time lately -- I'm working four jobs trying to keep things afloat," Auden notes. "I actually took a several-month break from WoW and have only recently returned."

Seldorm of Exodar was the first player-next-door typewe profiled on 15 Minutes. "In-game, times, they have changed," he writes. "Before the expansion hit, I joined up with a big-time guild on the server called . As far as my age goes, they don't care that I'm 16 -- they just care if I know my class and can play it well. (It turns out I do, and I can.) Then Wrath hit. I did my leveling thing, but I'm still getting the hang of nerfed warlock (QQ). Now me and Dauntless are doing our Naxx thing. Out of WoW, I'm doing my grade 11 thing. Still playing my vidya games, reading my books and building my LEGOs, but this time around, more homework. Bleh. I'm taking physics, and that's been a large work load. Still, I like to learn about how stuff works and why it works, so physics is interesting to me. I tried taking up drums, but I'm terrible at it right now. I'll get better, but it will take a while and then some. Now, if you'll excuse me, I've got a carton of egg nog and some Sons of Hodir dailies calling my name."

Like Noor the Pacifist, Gweryc the melee hunter is also still plugging along on the road to level 80 in his own offbeat fashion. "With the changes to the survival tree in Wrath, Gweryc lost a lot of his ability to DPS and tank," he reports. "After some creative thinking, I found that I could continue main tanking via my pet, by using macros to exert manual control over my pet gorilla. Unfortunately, this seems to strike people as an even weirder idea than playing a melee Hunter, so grouping is almost impossible. I still plan to level to 80, but there's a lot less incentive see it through. These days, I'm spending more time on my Smite Priest." Of course, a baby on the way (with fellow 15 Minutes profilee Auden of Hammer of Grammar fame) will keep the pace up during 2009.

Spectacular Death rolls onward in its mission to see all of the content in the World of Warcraft - from the old to the new. "Thanks to your article, we have grown exponentially," reports GM Gimlette. "I added another new person last night, two over the weekend including one who made a 'toon on Llane after finding the article in an Insider search. Since being featured in February, the guild has grown from around 35 names to welcoming our 190th 'toon on Dec. 21. We started with Onyxia and Zul'Gurub. We have progressed through 95% of Kara (grrrr, Prince) and the first boss of Zul'Aman. The five-man instances of Northrend are visited every week. We run battlegrounds together and have Arena teams. We go after world leaders and world dragons. We do silly things like guild dueling night where losers must jump off the Stormwind bridge or have a party in King Bronzebeard's throne room. We are gearing up for 'The Ultimate Race Through UBRS' as well as another weekend clear of Kara, this time downing Prince. Blackwing Lair is on the schedule, as well as Halls of Stone in Northrend. This just in from Melynthris, mom to the youngest raiding playerwe've yet profiled on 15 Minutes of Fame: "Zeshon is 12 now, and he is still playing WoW. Before the expansion, he participated in our guild's first Kael'thas and Illidan kills. Unfortunately, he missed the Vashj kill, so he didn't get his Hand of A'dal title. Although he was disappointed about that, he's been really excited about WoW since the expansion. He reached level 80 before his father and I did. He raids when his school schedule permits (weekends and holidays). He has also he done several heroics, participated in a lot of Wintergrasp wins and downed Archavon on both normal and heroic modes. I believe he has downed nine Naxxramas bosses so far and is anxious to see the others as soon as possible. Outside of WoW, August was a very big month for him. In addition to starting middle school, he became a big brother again. Now he has three younger brothers to look up to him (and get into his stuff!). He's doing very well in school; he's now a member of the Beta Club. In addition to school and family, he is a voracious reader and spends a lot of time on the telephone with his friends."

You might expect that a guild led not by a GM but by an entire committee would be liable to differences of opinion and an eventual split. You would be right - but not necessarily in a negative way. "A lot has changed since the last report," updates former Nocturne co-officer/leader Kaleel. "Of the six officers, only two are still in Nocturne, Welcar and Petshak, and they are doing well in Naxx. Morgaroth has changed his main to a Warlock and is doing his own thing now. And the other three of us (Kaleel/Olag, Frossti/Cirka, Shalorra/Nariella) have formed a new raiding guild, which will focus on 10-man content, called Sinister Fascination. We decided that there we had different views to the newer officers in Nocturne and thought better to split off and do it our way. We are steadily progressing, and most people in the guild are hitting 80 around now. We have been to Naxx three times and cleared the Arachnid quarter on our first run-through."

Fashion is an addiction - just ask any woman who loves her shoes. And fashion addict Rattleshirt is still plugging away at getting the most beautiful collection of clothing in all of Azeroth, the Outland - and now, Northrend. "I haven't gotten to play as much as I'd like, but I still I've still managed to get my third Shaman to 70 and my main to just shy of 77," reports Rattleshirt. "I'm still adding to Rattleshirt's dress collection. I'm expecting to be level 80 by the end of the holiday weekend, if I can get enough quiet time to log in. =P My guild has been doing great. They're pushing through Naxx without me at the moment, but I'm excited to see what it's like. I've been enjoying Northrend a lot. I really like how they learned from TBC to make considerable improvements on quest layout, gear design and fun level. I'm dying to get a proto-drake -- I think they look fabulous. I'm less happy about the wide use of recoloring for dresses instead of unique patterns, but it does improve design coordination from mismatched pieces (and I haven't seen much from higher instances yet, so I could be jumping the gun). I'm really excited about the change to UBRS to allow soloing -- I'm a few steps closer to getting that Dreadmist robe!"

This just in from Kooz, the main tank of Fractured on Euro realm Bloodscalp and one of the creators of the O'RLY Show: "Thanks to the data gathered when creating the ORLY show, I was able to start writing a thesis about social communities and use the ORLY show (and the weblog empowering it) to actually graduate at my bachelor degree. I already quit WoW just before graduation, when we put Illidan on farm and were entering the Sunwell for the first time. An awesome time, but hard for me to follow, due to school activities. That thesis lead me to my current day job. I'm active as a project manager and community manager at MINDZ.com, a new social network where a lot of great, young, web 2.0-minded people work. There's also some WoW involved there; people just enjoy being in a online and offline world. I put WoW on my resume, BTW -- over a year of guildleading isn't just a waste of time these days, and I'm very proud of it ! I had a collectors edition of WoTLK on the shelf for over a month, when I decided to unbox it and try to play casually. Yes, that works as well for me, currently as Fury Warrior at level 72."

Fans of the WoW-based graphic novel Gank Frankwill be thrilled to hear that the online saga is not dead. "I am unfortunately not playing Warcraft any more," reports Gank Frank creator Fenrix. "I still have a free subscription until March 2009, thanks to the wonderful Beowulf Contest that Blizzard held, and will be using that time to complete Gank Frank Chapters 6 and 7. I wish I had a teaser image to show you, but seeing as WoW Model Viewer broke, I have nothing to give you. *sadface* I am writing the scripts for Chapters 6 and 7 currently."

We know you all look back with fond memories of the day (gee, it was something like April 1, wasn't it?) that WoW Insider found itself transformed into Hello Kitty Insider. The young Hello Kitty fan we profiled on 15 Minutes of Fame (who happens to be related to a WI blogger you might read occasionally /coughcough) has finally been given permission to move to the PvP server where her parents play. She just began leveling a shiny new Rogue that she plays with her daddy. At the advanced age of 7 years old and level 12, she enjoys wearing fancy dresses crafted by her mom and dreams of the day she's high level enough to sample the goods of Aimee, the pie, pastry and cake vendor in Dalaran.

Would you believe that the guy who won the Gurubashi Arena event more than 700 times kept at it and now holds a record for more than one thousand wins? "When we last spoke, I was a nobody who spent so much time in a 'useless' arena that I had won it's treasure over 700 times," confesses Venwe. "Now? Now I'm a nobody with over 1,000! Though it has been sporadic, I try to make sure to hit Gurubashi up as much as possible. My main in-game goal has been to complete the tourist idea that I spoke of briefly before -- that is, I take my character to every single statue in game and take a tourist pic of him posing in front of them. That includes all instances, raids, cities, ruins, etc. I have everything done except the areas of Northrend I've yet to visit (I'm slow leveling, so that I can get all the quest and exploration achievements). When I am done, I'll be sure to post a 'Venwe on Vacation' gallery onto the mass interwebs. My friends from our region took our tabletop group of D&D gamers into Azeroth, and our guild is now known as the Quilt City Ogres http://www.quiltcityogres.com which, as the new guild master, has been a fun undertaking."

In May, we told the story of Molii, a young player who was meandering his way to level 70 at the speed of molasses. Molii is no longer playing World of Warcraft - in fact, he appears to have stopped at level 49, the point at which we interviewed him. Considering that he's an eighth grader, however, we feel certain that Molii is finding plenty of other pastimes to keep him occupied.

Once a PvPer, always a PvPer - and the PvP twinker we profiled this spring is biting into Northrend with a vengeance. "At this very moment, I am trying to ponder exactly which Hateful items to buy," reports Angrenous. "I transferred to a PVP server as soon as it became available and I've loved every minute of it. I'm unimpressed with Wintegrasp, but really because sneaking around and ganking people is highly discouraged. It's all about RAAWWRR ASPOLSIONS! I haven't really dusted off my twinks (which still reside on Shadow Council) since the expansion. I did try out Conqur, my 39 Warrior with a new 'Overpower constantly' spec, and it works beautifully with my Pendulum of Doom. Ret Paladins in that bracket are simply gods now -- at least the Rogues have something to compete with at the top of the food chain. Who knows? Maybe one day, I'll make a 19 Ambush twink, but only if Assassin's Blade drops for me when running a lowbie friend through SFK. A friend an I are considering making level 60 Death Knight twinks by getting them a bunch of AQ40 gear and such ... Might be fun!"

From young MMA fighter and WoW player Jerry Friestad: "Ever since the article, I've re-rolled an Undead Warrior, Pewpewzombie, and started tanking small stuff to see how it feels. When the expansion hit, I took my alt Warrior to 80 in five days and began main tanking for my guild in Naxxramas. We cleared it in our first week like most high-end guilds are doing, so we're just gearing everyone up waiting for the first content patch with some (hopefully) difficult raid encounters. I've also taken a Death Knight up to 80 as well, in anticipation for the next Arena season. Outside of game, I started going to school on campus, getting ready to transfer into Walter Cronkite school of Journalism at ASU some time next year. I keep training and fighting in my underappreciated 135 lbs. division, but unless I become a top 5 in the world guy, I won't get any mainstream attention in that weight class. I've just been training and hope that I go through some random growth spurt so I can move up two weight classes. I'm still only 19. I also freelance news posts and reviews for incgamers.com and am currently looking for some more sites to write for."

The guys of Argent Dawn's successful MLH Arena team are still at it today, although in different areas. "MLH has grown from a 5v5 team on Argent Dawn to a guild now on Magtheridon server," reports Grackle. "Molimo and I decided to form a guild and hand pick the best players we find. We strive to be strong at PvP, Arenas and 10-man content. We have lost a few of our original members due to real-life circumstances but have since picked up a few more. In the end, we have what hopefully turns out to be a very good series of Arena teams. Our Priest (Grackel) rerolled DK (Grackle), Mage (Vorgestellt) rerolled Priest (Sepna) and then quit, our Shaman (Ental) isn't sure what he plans to do yet, while our Pally (Iashu) and Moonkin (Molimo) stick with the same thing after four years of playing."

Not many players do the content featured in Tamzin's strat videos anymore - but the downloads continue. "I quit WoW in, err, July 2008 I think it was, after I'd killed Kil'Jaeden (which incidentally was a year after I'd first killed Illidan, so it seemed a poetic time to quit, hehe)," updates Tamzin. "I'd done everything in PvP and I'd done everything in PvE, so it was basically a case of 'game over.' The reason I didn't want to play in expansion was because I knew the old WoW would never be there again. The game had really gone casual-mode and wide appeal-friendly mode, everything was getting nerfed over and over, PvP would be getting more unbalanced rather than more balanced, and the random as opposed to skill element was too high. Blizzard had patched all the camera tools I used for making my movies, and so that really removed a huge part of the interest factor to keep playing WoW, too. I often wonder, though, why so many people still download my movies to this day. Maybe there are still some uber-casuals out there doing the old instances now for the first time, or perhaps it's new joiners to the game? Outside of gaming, I continue to work in music, and of course I await the day when a new MMOG is released that captures my imagination."

Mid-year, we profiled a woman who seems to represent the growing number of new-to-MMO players. "Things in my game world and real life have changed immensely, making my game time much more valuable. In October, I lost my job and had to move home to live with my parents (at 39 years old, that is not fun!). I went from living in a big 10 college town of about 60k people to a town of 132 people when everyone is home. It is a very rural community. Luckily for me, I have a good DSL internet connection, and my World of Warcraft time is my main social outlet. Savage Maidens disbanded on Oct. 31, and I was lucky enough to have met some great people in my game time who made me an officer of Abusement (www.abusement.net). Many former Maidens joined me there. The new guild is focused on raiding, and we have already cleared the Arachnid wing of 10-person Naxxramas along with several other early Naxxramas bosses in the various quarters, like Patchwerk and Noth the Plaguebringer. We keep making slow progress and are still running heroics and helping all of our members get to 80. Grobbulus, your time is coming!"

Well known Mage theorycrafter Lhivera became disillusioned with WoW when the direction of Mage specs and class balancing took a direction he didn't appreciate. "I participated in the Wrath of the Lich King beta for about three months," he writes. "During this time, I focused on the development of the Mage's Frost tree, as my time was limited and that is my primary concern. It became clear right away that the tree's play style was not really changing. While most other specs that had gone through vanilla and The Burning Crusade with extremely simple (often one-button) play styles had received significant improvements to make them more interesting, Frost received exactly one new button to press -- and it was Fireball. The last straw for me came when the dual-spec feature was described as something that would permit spec-toggling on the fly. As my previous interview made clear, I feel that character integrity in an RPG requires that respecs be MORE difficult than they currently are in WoW, not less. The game is clearly headed in a direction I don't care to follow, so I am allowing it to lapse when my time runs out in March. I'm dabbling a bit with a Death Knight and poking around Northrend with my Hunter in the meantime; I have earned a total of four levels between the two characters since the expansion was released."

What's the view in Northrend from the ivory tower of academia? "Since my interview with WoW Insider, I've moved from London, England to Toronto, Canada," reports Jessica Langer. "The recent 'Stormageddon' here has made for plenty of indoor gaming time! I also successfully defended my Ph.D. in October, so I suppose I'm Dr. now. Professionally, I've taken a position as the head of marketing and communications at a private school, but I'm continuing to publish on various topics in film and media studies and will most likely be teaching again come summer. My next article, on Japanese science fiction, comes out in the spring. Unfortunately, my WoW life hasn't been quite as rich as my personal life, as I've had little time to play -- so little, in fact, that I mostly play Wrath of the Lich King vicariously through my husband (it's his level 74 Rogue whose screenshot you see). I really miss playing with the Truants, though, as they're such a wonderful group and it was so much fun working with them on our book. But I've been playing around with a low-level Blood Elf Mage and am enjoying it when I get a moment or two. I will be back into the game in earnest pretty soon, as I've started the initial research for a project on the tension between science fiction and fantasy in games like WoW that blend the two."

The Leftovers raiding group experienced a surge of interest after being profiled in 15 Minutes of Fame and is hard at work taking Northrend by storm. "Leftovers has moved into Northrend pretty smoothly, and the cat-herding continues!" notes Senzoo. "Most of our Burning Crusade charter groups are running full steam ahead, and a number of newer groups are organizing to get in on the action. In fact, some folks (and in some cases, whole groups!) have transferred servers to get in on the fun, which has been just amazing, and we really need to thank you guys for helping us meet even more wonderful players. LO has more than 40 raids on its calendar per week already, and we only expect that number to grow. We remain committed to our goals of providing an inclusive, fun and successful raiding experience for as many people as we can, from progression groups to casuals. It's been a wild ride so far, and though some of our folks are enjoying a leisurely pace of leveling in the frozen north, we'll be ready to welcome them back into raiding just as soon as they're ready, too. 2008's been a real banner year for Leftovers, and we're looking forward to a 2009 filled with fun, phat lewts and dead raid bosses."

You probably guessed that retiring player Boom is, well, retired from WoW - his going-out-with-a-boom event was what made 15 Minutes of Fame news in the first place. "As I write this on Christmas, it has been exactly six months since I set foot in Azeroth," reports Boom. "Since Boom died, I've remodeled and sold my home, built and launched my online woodworking store -- and when my wife lost her job twice in one month (layoffs), I was actually ready. I can't imagine tackling all that and playing WoW at the same time. Thanks to WoW Insider, I still receive e-mails today from other players who are quitting WoW and getting a hold on their life before they head back in. It has been inspiring. Do I miss WoW? You bet! But I was right when I determined that it didn't fit in my life anymore. I still keep in touch with my guildmates, but I miss the rest of my Argent Dawn friends. /boomhug"

Northrend is open, and most of us have had the chance to meet the NPC named after non-combat pet fan and WarcraftPets.com creator Breanni. "Over the past few months in real life, I've been very busy," he reports. "I've managed to staff my website with two wonderful volunteers. I've also partnered with Café Press to open the WarcraftPets Store. In addition, my wife and I managed to attend our first BlizzCon and had a blast! I met fans of the site, several Blizzard employees and even made some new friends. After BlizzCon, I remained busy prepping the site for the new Wrath content and gearing up for a big state-to-state move. After a month of unpacking hundreds of boxes and setting up our new house, my wife and I are proud to call ourselves full-fledged Virginians. Within the World of Warcraft, Breanni and my other 10 characters have welcomed the addition of my new Death Knight to the ranks. In what little spare time I've had, I managed to level this new DK up to 70, bringing my total level 70 character count up to 12 (that's got to break some record somewhere...). I've also begun to poke around Northrend with several of my other characters. The quests are amazing, and there's so much to do! I'm very much looking forward to having more time in 2009 to quest, explore and dual-box my way to level 80. And, of course, Breanni is looking forward to coming face-to-face with her in-game counterpart in Dalaran. After all, one can never have enough Happy Pet Snacks. ;-)"

How grows Phaelia's Tree in Northrend? "I'm still active in game," reports the blogger. "My guild made the decision to wait until January to start trying 25-man raiding, since so many members would be unavailable during the holiday break. My husband and I haven't yet decided whether will likely focus primarily on 10-man raids and help out with 25-man raids where we can. As far as my plans for Resto4Life, I'd like to continue fleshing out theorycraft and strategy, especially revising articles that were written specifically for TBC mechanics (such as mana regeneration). Obviously, those type of articles take a lot of time, so I'll only be publishing them in between several more fluffy pieces. :-)"

As the world turns, Gary Arndt just keeps logging in -- everywhere. "I'm still traveling," he reports. "I managed to get the expansion installed and got to level 80 while I was in Vietnam. Since the interview, I've played in Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos; however, I wasn't able to do much more than log on and say hi in Cambodia or Laos. I'm finding the expansion to be more casual-friendly than BC was. I'm also enjoying healing as a Discipline priest, event though there are still some bugs they have to fix. I'll be traveling through the Middle East and Europe over the next few months, so I'll be adding even more countries to my list. I'm still waiting for Blizzard to add the "Traveler" achievement :)"

Northrend content goes pretty fast for experienced players, and things were no different for a guild that managed to go from Kara to Illidan in just six weeks. "Havoc has been keeping very busy since we last talked," writes Meliadoul. "We left off with our Illidan kill; since that point, we went through a guild restructuring and rallied to claim server firsts on every SWP boss up to and including Kil'Jaeden. In WotLK, we have redefined ourselves as a top nationwide guild, in addition to being the top server guild. With the playing field being leveled by the release of a new expansion, our members understood that this was our chance to shine. We did just that, claiming virtually every server first, including downing Heroic Malygos only two days behind famed Vodka of the Mannoroth server. We are currently a top-100 U.S. guild (exactly #100, in fact -- so I hope we don't fall any lower, because it sounds so great to say!). Just this week, we completed all possible content by conquering the difficult Sartharion 3D (3 drakes active). We are standing by for the release of Ulduar and are ready to push deeper into the top-100 ranks."

How do you follow up a project as deeply involved as 10-boxing Karazhan? "Lots of things have changed since the article on 15 Minutes of Fame," writes Nixi. "I planned to leave China and I stopped playing WoW, since my accounts were on Chinese servers. I picked up Warhammer Online while in the U.S., and I played it for a month. I ended up coming back to China in November and got hired by my old company as the product director for a new web-games division. Shortly thereafter, I become interested in falconry, the sport of using a live bird of prey to hunt game."

Northrend has been short work for a guild that specializes in speed runs. "Fusion has continued to push for high rankings in WOTLK," writes Bazz. "We succeeded in achieving realm-first Sartharion, Malygos and Naxx clears. In addition, we secured a U.S. top 10 'Heroic: Twilight Zone' and also managed to pull off a world-fifth/U.S.-second 'The Immortal.' In other news, we have also been finalizing plans for a guild trip to Las Vegas this spring. We are looking forward to getting together as a team and doing some 'Team-Building Exercises' (that's what we're calling it!). All around, things are looking good, and we are looking forward to all the new challenges that WotLK will bring in the months to come."

15 Minutes of Fame's profile of Tainted led to an influx of support and new members for the GLBT guild. "The Spreading Taint has kept busy since the article, both in game and in real life," reports Locknroll. "WoW Insider has played no small part in this, as their spotlight on our guild brought literally hundreds of new applicants to the guild. We've been more than happy to welcome these new players to the community. And a very large, diverse community it is -- not only did we hold our 2008 annual meet-up in Las Vegas, with over 45 people in attendance, we've thrown smaller get-togethers in Seattle, Atlanta, Washington, D.C., San Francisco, Florida, New York City, Portland and more! In game, we've been just as busy, adding three more guilds to our collective. Tainted Knights contains our considerable Death Knight population (already at almost 400 'toons!), while Taint Invaders and Raiders of da Lost Taint are our two new raid-focused guilds. Collectively, the Taint has cleared all BC raid content and has only the 25-man version of Malygos standing between us and a similar accomplishment for WotLK raid content. Outside of raids, the guild continues to do just about everything you can imagine, from dance parties in Orgrimmar to flightpath parties, protests against California's Proposition 8, to annihilating enemy racial leaders with swarms of over 100 players, earning us an army of war bears!"

As if building a scale model of Booty Bay entirely out of LEGOS weren't enough, Astrylian has stayed busy producing Rawr, the downloadable character-tweaking application. "Lego Booty Bay is on display in the San Diego Model Railroad Museum in Balboa Park," he notes. "We're back home relaxing, enjoying Christmas and Winter Veil, raiding and working on Rawr. We're working on major upgrades to Rawr and plan to be releasing Rawr 2.2 in the next few weeks."

New shows and more deadlines roll onward for e-sportscaster JP McDaniel. "We just wrapped up Season 1 of ArenaCast last week and ended the season with the infamous Serennia from WorldofMing.com on the show," he reports. "Season 2 will be starting Jan. 7. Still the same cast, but we're hoping to bring in some more segments and perhaps some new toys such as a soundboard with favorite sayings in the professional WoW community. I started leading alt-raids in my guild with all of the main raiders who can't fit in the main raid and some of the alts of the main raiders. So far, I've gotten a bunch of best-in-slot gear for my now-Holy-specced Paladin. We've also been playing Season 5 of Arena and doing quite well (top 10 on our BG)."

This group of firefighters, medics, police officers and military personnel is another guild that has enjoyed increased prosperity from its time in the 15 Minutes of Fame spotlight.
