- Step 1
Gather your supplies. You can use a clay knife rather than an xacto knife.
- Step 2
Roll out two balls of clay, one of each color. The clay is divided into bars. I used about 1/2 of a blue bar of clay and 1 full bar of gold clay.
- Step 3
Flatten your balls out on the counter with the palm of your hand. You can smooth them over gently with your finger to eliminate finger prints.
- Step 4
Cut out a circle using the large cutter.
- Step 5
Your gold piece should look like this. Remove the outer circle.
- Step 6
Repeat the process with the blue piece and medium cutter. Use the medium cutter to cut out the center of the gold circle and set it aside, leaving the outer ring.
- Step 7
Place the blue circle inside the gold ring and lightly press the outer ring towards the blue circle so that it fits tightly.
- Step 8
Using your saved gold circle, cut out a small flame shape. This may take a few tries. The clay is pretty forgiving, so you can reshape it if you need to.
- Step 9
Cut an arrow shape out of the gold clay. Be sure to hold it above the other pieces to make sure it fits and trim off any excess.
- Step 10
Place the flame and arrow onto the center of the blue circle. Put the piece on a baking pan and bake at 275 degrees for 30 minutes.
- Step 11
Let the piece cool off completely.
- Step 12
Get your magnets. When choosing a magnet, make sure you get the kind with the adhesive backing.
- Step 13
Cut the magnet to the length of the blue circle.
- Step 14
Remove the protective paper backing and place the magnet in the center of the blue circle.
