- The Borean Tundra
The Borean Tundra is one of two starter zones in Northrend, and can be accessed via the Stormwind Harbor for the Alliance or the zeppelin tower outside of Orgrimmar for the Horde.
- Warsong Hold Flightpath
Warsong Hold's flight master is at the very top of the massive keep, and she's a lovely tauren lady by the name of Turida Coldwind.
- Taunka'le Village Flightpath
This fellow here, Omu Spiritbreeze, is the flight master for the Horde town of Taunka'le Village. He is, of course, a Taunka. Taunka'le can be found in the northeast arm of the Tundra.
- Fizzcrank Airstrip Flightpath
Kara Thricestar is an Alliance flight master at the Fizzcrank Airstrip and yes, another Battlestar Galactica reference.
- Bor'gorok Outpost Flightpath
At the northwest corner of the Borean Tundra you'll find the Bor'gorok Outpost with its flight master Kimbiza at the southeastern edge of town.
- Transitus Shield Flightpath
Warmage Adami sits astride a Red Drake mount, and will be your Flight Master within the Transitus Shield, tucked away in the Coldarra mountains. This is a neutral flightpath.
- Amber Ledge Flightpath
Amber Ledge's flight master is missing their skin in the current beta patch, but it's a full grown red dragon by the name of Surristrasz. Since showing you a broken model would be silly, you get to see this rad tapestry inside of a nearby building instead.
Amber Ledge can be found on the western edge of the Borean Tundra, and is the only way to get to the Coldarra at first. Amber Ledge is a neutral settlement, aligned with the Kirin Tor. - Unu'pe Flightpath
Unu'pe is a tuskarr settlment in the eastern reaches of the Borean Tundra, and the goblin Bliko Driftspark will be your flight master. This is a neutral flightpath.
- Garrosh and Saurfang
Garrosh Hellscream is in charge of the Horde encampment Warsong Hold, with Saurfang as his much-needed advisor.
- Warsong Hold
Garrosh Hellscream and the Warsong Offensive have made Warsong Hold their base of operations.
- Warsong Quarry
It seems the Warsong are more interested in stone than lumber these days. Garrosh Hellscream and the Warsong Clan have completely carved out a field of stone to build Warsong Hold, and have attracted an army of Nerubians in the process.
- Warsong Hold Again
Another shot of Warsong Hold.
- The Nexus
A shot of the Nexus, home of Malygos and the Blue Dragonflight, found in the center of the Coldarra.
- The Nexus 2
A shot of the Nexus, home of Malygos and the Blue Dragonflight, found in the center of the Coldarra.
- The Transitus Shield
Mages of the Kirin Tor channel the Transitus Shield to hide themselves from the Blue Dragonflight, right under their noses.
- Arcane Serpent
An Arcane Serpent flies past the entrance to the Nexus.
- Kvaldir
This is a Kvaldir, known as tuk-hariq to the Tuskarr, which means "walkers of the fog". That mist effect you see on the edges of the screen isn't something I added, that is what the area looks like when the Kvaldir are around.
- Kvaldir Warships
More mist-men.
- Riplash Ruins
The Riplash Ruins, formerly a Kaldorei settlement and later taken by the Naga, has recently been taken from them by the Kvaldir.
- Tuskarr Monument
A mostly intact Tuskarr Monument, unlike the one in the Dragonblight.
- Penguins
Need I say more?
- Tuskarr Warrior
A noble tuskarr warrior astride his turtle mount.
- Geyser Fields
A view of the Geyser Fields from atop the ruins of Talramas.
- Geyser Fields 2
Parts of the Geyser Fields are having oil issues. Poor birdies.
- En'kilah
The Scourge has made The Temple City of En'kilah their stronghold in the Borean Tundra.
Pictured here is a necromancer hard at work. - En'kilah Parade
A stream of nerubian scarabs skitter from one end of En'kilah to the other.
- More Nerubians
And the ants go marching three by three hurrah, hurrah!
- Valiance Keep
Valiance Keep is the major Alliance outpost in the Borean Tundra. A statue of Varian Wrynn is erected here.
- Gorloc
This is a gorloc. The uglier, smarter, more evolved version of a murloc. I don't know how, but I think I like them better than their cousins.
- Kel'thuzad
Kel'thuzad keeps the Orcs of Warsong Hold at bay with his legion of undead and Plague Spreaders. It's like fertilizer, but the opposite.
Kel'thuzad is not able to be killed here, and will appear in Naxxramas as well. - Mammoth
You'll first encounter these wooly mammoths in the Borean Tundra, and they're scattered throughout a few other zones, too.
- Mounted Warmage
Kirin Tor warmages ride Red Drakes into battle against the Blue Dragonflight.
- Fizzcrank's Airstrip
A shot of the Fizzcrank Airstrip in the northern half of the Borean Tundra.
- Rhinos
Wooly rhinos graze on the plains of the Borean Tundra.
- Talramas
Talramas is a crashed necropolis, crunched into the mountains at the northern ridge of the Tundra.
- Talramas Interior
The interior of Talramas. Necromancers work to get the necropolis afloat again.
- DEHTA Camp
The PETA parody DEHTA burns an effigy of world famous hunter Hemet Nesingwary.
- A Glance at Sholazar
The Sholazar Basin is just north of the Borean Tundra, but you won't go there for awhile yet. It's a level 76-78 zone, so you'll need to be patient. Pretty though, isn't it?
That's it for our Borean Tundra preview, but if you're itching for more Wrath of the Lich King eyecandy, check out our Wrath Roundup page or some of our other Wrath galleries, such as our look at the Dragonblight, Utgarde Keep, or the magical kingdom of Dalaran.
