Apr 20th 2008 10:01AM That's just not going to happen against well-geared people. They're going to have enough resilience and armor that he just will not be able to "pwn face" and will rather get the crap beaten out of him because he can't do enough damage in the time they can slice through his defenses. Sure, if he's up against people that are still in their questing gear or are also in PvE gear, it's feasible, but PvE epics are just not going to do that kind of damage against someone geared up in Arena epics.
Apr 19th 2008 8:43PM However, if you are completely outfitted with Tier 6 gear, you can easily walk into an arena or battleground and, for the most part, compete and have major success.
No. Just, no.
So you lucked out and went up against some teams that weren't geared up and probably didn't work well with each other, that doesn't suddenly mean PvE epics are useful for PvP. PvE gear is great what it's made for, and certain pieces are going to help in PvP...but not if you have no resilience and don't have the Stamina to back your DPS up.
Seriously, that point just makes as much sense as someone arguing their PvP epics are worthwhile raiding because they can get away with their Hunter going into Karazhan in Season 1 gear. Sure, you can get away with it in Kara, but it doesn't mean you should, just like you can get away with going into Arena against lower-rated teams in your PvE epics...doesn't mean you should.
Apr 19th 2008 8:17PM The thing is, most of the time you wind up booting people who were actually paying attention...and getting people who are just going to AFK for the whole game to replace them. That and considering it's a reportable offense (it's considered impersonating Blizzard), it's not the best thing to be advising people to do.
Apr 2nd 2008 5:39PM why would you roll on a PvP realm unless you wanted to, I dunno, PvP?
I dunno, possibly because WoW is a social game and most players have friends that got them into the game...and generally you want to play with your friends? I spent well over a year on a PvP server because of this and hated it.
Mar 31st 2008 5:43PM At least for the first week, it's been an awful change on my BG (Reckoning) since everyone has decided to turtle for "more honor." That just winds up dragging the games out to ridiculous amounts of time and cuts into the honor/hour gain from before 2.4. Horde in the BG has always been pretty bad at AV, and that hasn't changed much. I was in a game the other day where we managed to get bottlenecked at IB GY because everyone was screwing around at FW GY to farm honor kills, and those of us on offense weren't able to get through the Alliance orgy.
WSG is now just a constant battle midfield of people farming HKs, and EotS and AB are just people fighting in the roads trying to farm HKs.
I hoped by now people would have gotten over the "immediate honor" and realized it's still better honor/hour if you try to win, but so far no luck. Maybe in a couple more weeks the majority will realize this, but I'm not going to hold my breath.
Mar 30th 2008 11:03AM I've always viewed Blizzard's jokes towards male Elves as a bit of a satire on Elves in the fantasy genre, not some kind of homosexual stereotype like Amanda seems to think.
I like the idea behind He Said/She Said, but it's going to be really disappointing if things are blown out of proportion like this every time.
Mar 29th 2008 7:18PM Apparently Toe just didn't quite understand to get out of the way of the grumpy demon...
I loved with Kazzak was raiding all the major cities, and all the high-ends of the server were bitching out the lowbies that were wandering around. All of those black skulls were a sight to see!
Mar 28th 2008 5:07PM Patch 2.4 has turned AV into a turtlefest where Horde still loses most of the time. It's turned WSG into a midfield HK-farming-fest for at least half of the team and the games generally last even longer than before. AB and EotS are full of road-farmers rather than fighting at nodes.
I'm really hoping this is just because people are excited by the removal of diminishing returns and in a week or so will realize that they're not getting good honor HK-farming and would get better honor if they actually sit down and try to win the games.
Mar 28th 2008 5:01PM I had a hard time noticing with my human female, who I picked a really pissy face for. Now, instead of looking pissy, she looks surprised.
I'm more frustrated that my Female Troll has her tusks sticking THROUGH her S1 Hunter helm. It looks ridiculous. Not as ridiculous as a Male Troll in the same situation, but it's definitely pretty lame. I could turn her helm off, but if you do that with a Female Troll in the S1 Hunter gear it makes them look like they have fat necks.
