Two more WoW-related iPhone apps off the App Store {WoW}

May 6th 2009 5:43PM Blizzard does no longer exist. They're Activision-Blizzard now, and Vivendi has made some very dubious decisions in regards to customer relations in the past.
They just want your money and are quite cocksure of their indestructible position at the top.
In case any of the old Blizzard staff care about any of this, I very much doubt they're even allowed to break the NDA's they surely had to sign to keep their jobs.

Phat Loot Phriday: Arcanite Reaper {WoW}

Oct 31st 2008 7:42PM "Not a tall order, actually (yet another reason why this weapon was so popular)."

I have to disagree on this point. At first, there were VERY few people with the plans and they usually charged hundreds of gold for crafting alone (which back then was a fortune). Second, because of its popularity the demand for arcanite/arcane crystals grew so much that prices explode, making a single completed Reaper cost over 800g (which would be around 4-5k now I guess).

Officers' Quarters: Allow me to rebut {WoW}

Sep 2nd 2008 3:10AM Just a small thought about job interviews and WoW/gaming in general.
The days of computer gaming, or even mmo's, being a secluded, vague hobby of hauling yourself up in a dark room for days on end have long been over. Any modern firm that cannot see the inherent reality - that games gross more worldwide than movies do - and that this is the norm for generation Y and below, will perish due to poor business insight.
Also, a firm which would consider such a hobby detrimental or would actually break off an interview because the interviewee mentions it, is not a firm I would like to work for. Likewise, I was once interviewed for a job as salesman and the VERY FIRST thing they asked - nay, demanded - was that I had my hair cut. Before they even mentioned credentials, pay, education... Needless to say I did not waste my time on the rest of that interview.
The skills learned from WoW (social skills, leadership skills, that is - not getting bosses down sadly) ARE definitely valuable skills on the modern job market. People claiming they aren't are blind to the reality of how today's job market functions.

Death Knight solos Onyxia {WoW}

Aug 28th 2008 10:21AM Pretty awesome!
Slightly offtopic, does anyone know what band/song that is in the beginning of the video? It sounds pretty drum 'n bass-like.

Forum post of the day: Broken records incoming {WoW}

Aug 12th 2008 4:47AM "I'm torn between if this counts as abuse or clever use of mechanics."

It is neither. It is actually an extremely clever marketing ploy employed by Blizzard. Of course they knew this would happen - they engineered it to be this way. They KNEW people would go and roll secondary accounts only for this. Now, they're getting paid subscriptions by players, botters, farmers, multiboxers and 'regular players with ridiculously fast-leveled alts'.

Everything about this thing is economically motivated, it has nothing to do with in-game mechanics or whatnot.

Besides, Blizzard has all but abandoned the old 1-60 content. I have the distinct feeling they want everyone to rush through it as quickly as possible so they can get on with the expansion content (both BC & Wrath).

Forum post of the day: Vicarious' legend {WoW}

Aug 7th 2008 2:57AM Ahh, this old argument. How I missed standing bent over Ragnaros' corpse only to see the Eye go to a paladin because he was a personal friend of the GM.
This sort of thing will never stop, you know. As long as there are drops off bosses, people will find ways to screw with the system and skew it to their advantage, to the detriment of others.
They will claim it being done in the name of friendship, fairness, power and sometimes just for laughs, but it will never cease. I wonder how people are going to react when we'll start seeing artifact drops. They'd already sell their own mother for something orange - how far would they go for red?

Jul 28th 2008 5:13PM Looks more like a background prop that someone programmed mount-like qualities into. I wouldn't hold my breath just yet - did you see that speed? I find it highly unlikely to find this ingame anytime soon.
