Breakfast Topic: Old school {WoW}

May 16th 2008 9:51AM Oh man. The Dock Master is one of those things you don't really forget. The sheer amount of hate Angwe generated on a daily basis could fuel entire cities.

I miss old school Dethecus. It really has gone to the scrubs these days.

Arcane Brilliance: A slice of win cake with extra frosting {WoW}

Jul 22nd 2007 10:26AM Ah, the days when Frost was the PvE raiding king due to MC and BWL =)

I find the Frost is far more suited to PvP than PvE these days due to the large amount of burst damage potential. Sup with "ZOMG ICELANCE LAWL" even with the nerf to it. Not to mention you can hit off quick winter's chill with that baby.

It's been said to death, but just to drive the point home deep fire really is the most efficient raid spec pre t5. Even if you are spamming scorches and fireballs all night you should be tossing in FB and AB to really maximize your DPS. And it still beats the old days of mashing Frostbolt for a living =P Molten armor happens to be my mainstay raiding armor, but I do like to switch mage armor for longer, mana-intensive fights (Curator, Prince).

Hybrid Theory: Getting into raids as an off-spec {WoW}

May 31st 2007 2:50AM A mage may be easy to deal large amounts of damage with, but being a good mage still requires skill. There's a balance between damage and threat. Not to mention spell rotation in order to do maximum damage.

For example, my mage had around +850 spell damage during a curator fight. Another mage in the group reported about +1050 spell damage. Over the course of two attempts, I managed to top damage by a little over 1% despite dying in the middle of the first attempt. There was never a time I was up while the other mage was dead yet I still maintained top damage.

This is just damage. There's also kiting and crowd control as a mage...
