Some realms suffer extended downtime [Updated] {WoW}

Jun 2nd 2009 6:39PM I'm well aware.. I've been a computer programmer for the last 15 1/2 years.

They too should be well aware. This isn't a company with 3 guys sitting in a basement. I'm sure they have a gigantic IT department. This happens way too often for them.

Jun 2nd 2009 6:31PM They just changed that to 530pm PST

Jun 2nd 2009 6:19PM Color me surprised. A multi-billion dollar company and they seem to have blind retarded one armed chimps upgrading their hardware.

I mean honestly... 15 hours to apply a 7mb patch and upgrade some hardware? That's a complete joke. And this is the second week in a row for my server to endure this.

In regards to the patch issue... WHY exactly do they have a PTR? Oh I forgot.. its not for actually TESTING to make sure things work code wise.. its to let the no life having uber guilds be able to finish content first. How bout you actually TEST stuff Bliz.

WRUP: Is anyone playing WoW? edition {WoW}

Apr 11th 2009 9:59AM Putting my DK on the shelf for a while. I got burnout half way thru a Naxx run the other night and gave up.

You work work work to get better gear, so you can raid to get better gear. You pvp to get pvp gear so you can be better at pvp. The whole system is just broken and boring.

I can't say I have any faith in this new patch either. With all these "uber guilds" blasting through the content on the PTR.. im sure there will be guides and strats already once the patch hits live. Meaning 3.1 content will be cleared within a month or two im sure.... and we'll be right back where we are now.

New add-on policy makes selling add-ons against the rules {WoW}

Mar 25th 2009 9:59AM No no...

Blizz: "I made this delicious pie that 11million people can eat. It's cherry."

NonCharge Addon Developer (NCAD): "I have this great knife that will make cutting that pie a lot easier for all to enjoy. It's free."

Blizz: "Great. Share it."

Profiteer Developer (PD): "I have this great fork people can use to eat such pie. But only if they pay me 15 bucks a month to use it. It's vastly superior to the peice of crap plastic junk your giving people."

Blizz: "Do they HAVE to pay for it? Will it break the game if they DONT use it?"

Profiteer Developer (PD): "Absolutely not. Its their choice as a consumer to decide if they want to buy this add-on or not".

Blizz: "15 Bucks for them to use a tool you made to enjoy something WE made to begin with? I don't think so."

Profiteer Developer (PD): "Sorry Mein Fuhrer.. I don't know what I was thinking..... ".

Mar 24th 2009 1:38PM Technically speaking this could be step 1 of many.

First, ban mod authors from profiting off of in-game add ons (which I think is silly.. they put the work in let them make a few bucks). True in game adds are annoying, but YOU the end user chose to enable the mod. You weren't forced.

Second, they "could" start to sue the pants off of any and all Warcraft related sites that run advertisements. Why would that be so off base? Lets take Wowinsider.com for example.

They use screen shots from the World of Warcraft... technically noted here in these posts as "the intellectual property of Blizzard." Wowinsider.com no doubt makes money off of the adds that are run on this site. So Blizzard "could" make the argument that Wowinsider.com is making a profit off of the efforts of Blizzard. They could force a cease and desist of operations, or even go after profit. Who knows. I've seen stranger things happen.

This could be done.. and very well MIGHT be done with the new "legal speak" regarding Battle.net.

The attack on mod writers I think is just step one. Now that the book is closed on Glider they basically have Cart Blanche to go after whoever they want IF they want.

Glider down for the count {WoW}

Mar 13th 2009 6:57PM I really don't see how it is "cheating". Are botters taking away items that you should have gotten? Are you sitting there farming a specific item and along comes this massive influx of botters stealing your items? No.

As someone who HAS botted in the past, we most normally go far off the beaten path, AWAY from everyone else to do our grind. We don't bother "human" players. Hell we don't even bother other botters. Anyone who says "oh its ruining other players experience" please give me ONE example how. How is someone leveling up an alt because they don't want to "experience the lore" for the 100th time hurting you?

I understand the issue with bots in Battlegrounds. Yes in that respect I can see how it impairs another players enjoyment of a specific area of the game. But as far as leveling / grinding mats.. i'm sorry but its just not bothering anyone.

And someone gave the analogy of "working hard at a job gets you money". Ok but I PAY MONEY to play Warcraft, and yet I have to work at it like a job if I want a second or third character. The enjoyment for 99.9% of players out there comes from END GAME content... not leveling in the Barens. It's my $15 per month... who are you to tell me that I MUST ENJOY THE CONTENT.. I MUST LEARN MY CLASS..

Gimme a break....
