Just wanted to say I always look forward to your comments. You guys always have good input on topics here. I tip my hat to both of you, good sirs.
I agree, this is definitely not the game for someone who really wants to sink all their gaming time into a single game and/or character. Many times I see someone bored with the game but they have multiple 50s already. I been playing swtor casually since launch and Im still hooked but I only have one 50 and 3 alts in the 20s. I saw this in WoW to some degree too, the more you played the quicker you burnt out and unsubbed.
I like that Eliot touched on the use of abilities in this article. In Swtor there was multiple times that I died on quest bosses 3-5 times before finally getting the right mix of cc'ing/kiting/interrupting to live long enough to get them down. Hell, sometimes just a pack of mobs with two silvers in it would kill me if I wasn't careful. My friend and I even had to group up to finish our last couple main story quests. While the combat might not be drastically different I think Bioware deserves a little credit here for making typical questing a little more dangerous than many other modern themepark mmo's.
Mar 12th 2012 8:37PM Right now all businesses are jumping on the social media train and this Facebook stuff is just part of it. I'm not trying to tell everyone to put their info out there. I'm saying you can sign up with a fake name and an email you just made for looking at promotional material on Facebook and enjoy staying anonymous.
I completely understand why people wouldn't want to share photos and info online. But it doesn't mean you have to rally against Facebook like it's some evil thing. Just because a person has a Facebook account doesn't mean he is anti-privacy or a narcissist or whatever other stereotypes you guys come up with. Business opportunities are being made left and right through social media, old friends are connecting, political movements starting, and new friends being made. I feel that there is plenty of good to out weigh the bad.
Mar 12th 2012 3:34PM I love all the facebook paranoia in these comments. I agree that this is kind of a weak PR move to get some likes on facebook but to go as far as saying you are risking your privacy to join facebook is tin foil hat talk.
Facebook needs a name and an email to signup. Thats it. Nothing else. You don't have to upload photos, you don't have to fill out your profile or anything else. Anyone losing their privacy on facebook can only blame themselves.
You know what you can learn about me on facebook? That I like cars, video games, mma fighting and what my pets look like. Oh noes! The tragedy! My privacy has been compromised!
Jan 3rd 2012 3:55PM Wait a minute, there is warzones other than Huttball? All jokes aside, in about 20 "random" warzones I got Voidstar once and all the other matches have been Huttball. I still haven't even seen the alderaan one. Maybe some tweaks to the warzone finder are in order?
Other things I would like to see are more guild functions, a moving and scalable ui, more space missions even if on rails, the auction interface definitely needs some love, and last but not least a warzone with vehicles would be fun or a warzone that is a space battle. Star wars isn't all about infantry so it would be nice to see some more vehicular combat.
Oct 20th 2011 10:11PM I thought it was an excellent film. Thanks for the heads up massively.
Oct 20th 2011 8:27PM Good reviews by both guys. Although I think that post by KorbenDallas may be longer than both of them. Haha
NDA is keeping me quiet but I am really looking forward to launch as Im sure this will be my new themepark mmo of choice. =)
Oct 5th 2011 1:12PM While Ultima Online was my first mmo this was the first mmo I played that really grabbed me and had me fully invested in it. I had two accounts at one point even. I rage quit when NGE was announced but came back and spent some time with it before Cataclysm dropped and was pleasantly surprised with how much fun I was having.
Its a real shame this game is going to be shut down. The community is definitely one of the best and the game's sandbox appeal is second to none. It definitely had its flaws but it didn't stop me from having a good time. Im glad I will be there to witness the last few months of a one of a kind game.
May 10th 2011 10:47PM My stay in MxO was short but I still have some good memories from it. Some of the most entertaining combat animations in any mmo I have played. I'm pretty sure this game was also my first beta experience.
Oh and for the record I enjoyed all 3 of the movies. I thought the animatrix shorts were really cool too.
Mar 31st 2011 2:37PM Was so excited for this one but I can't bring myself to fork over the dough for it in it's current state. I hope Jef is right and with time this game becomes a solid title. And let's not put a stake in sandboxes yet, how about someone actually throw a decent amount of resources into creating one instead. Also a sandbox without FFA open pvp would be nice for carebears like me. ;-P
Mar 31st 2011 10:50AM Bummer! I was really looking forward to The Agency. Hopefully it still gets released at some point. Best of luck to all of those who were laid off. It's a tough job market out there right now.
