No, I don't switch to dps. I ask to tank but to roll on dps drops instead of tank drops. The article is about people who queue as tank and then switch to dps, leaving the group without a tank. It's different.
If you asked all the tanks who were in ilevel 245+ gear to queue as dps instead of tank when they wanted to gear their offspec, the "tank shortage" people are experiencing now would be even worse than it is. Why would geared tanks queue for heroics at all if all they can get is triumph badges? We're in 245 gear and don't need triumph badges, but we could use some of the drops that you can't buy with badges, such as the grinning skull boots.
With my method, groups get tank faster, the tanks they do get are more likely to be geared properly, and your tanks get offspec gear, and all we ask in exchange is to be able to roll alongside your dps. We aren't even asking for priority.
Jan 13th 2010 9:44AM I queue as a tank or healer (i have a prot warrior and a resto shaman), and I ask "Can I roll dps instead of [tank/heal]? If not its no biggie, I can just leave". They usually say yes because they don't want to queue for another 15-20min, but if they say no I just leave, switch toon and requeue and I get another group in 2-5min.
Nov 23rd 2009 2:01PM I'd love that kitty!
Nov 16th 2009 2:21PM Dun dun dun, there's a spell listed on wowhead called "Summon Nigh Elf Mohawk - Summons a Night Elf Mohawk to your side." !
Maybe there's more to this than meets the eye!
May 15th 2009 5:09AM Like the poster said, it was D-Day. I don't know where you live, but I'd think that regardless, you should learn what D-Day is if you didn't know before :P

Charge an enemy while falling.
Jan 22nd 2009 8:42AM I won't go on a 10man or heroic with someone in greens or bad gear choices (like hunters in strength gear). Thats my breaking point.
When it comes to 25 mans, which I do pug from time to time, or badge/timed runs, I won't go with people who don't meet the hit cap, or who have really low AP or SP due to PvP gear. I've seen lvl 80 resto shamans with 900 spellpower trying to do heroics. Even if you boost it with pots and totems, you won't be near the 1500 i would expect from someone looking to do heroics.
Nov 21st 2008 12:23AM I gotta agree with this guy. Tanks do want the expertise to increase the chance of landing hits, but more importantly to avoid the parries. This is why its also considered a mitigation stat.
And in the case for raiding tanks, the cap is somewhere near 15%. Not 5%.
