The enemy within the Alliance {WoW}

Nov 25th 2007 12:39AM this really an article on WoW Insider and not a flame-away post on the forums? Gimme a break, guys. I'm not one of those who would accuse you of being "journalists" but WoW Insider can surely find better things to do than incite this kind of crappy comment war. Lrn2write or find a new readership.

WoW Moviewatch: Mount Hyjal {WoW}

Nov 12th 2007 2:01PM Regarding guild/server rankings: Can anyone recommend a good site for this or comment on the accuracy of such sites? I do a lot of WoW internet reading but I've never had a recommendation on this. Sorry for the off-topic post but I'd love some feedback...

WoW Moviewatch: Mount Hyjal {WoW}

Nov 12th 2007 1:39PM @9 - Actually the voice-over stuff is from Warcraft III, as 8 pointed out, so I don't think the video makers get much credit for the story. I enjoyed the video, though!

Regarding 2% getting into Hyjal and #10 - I don't think attunement is really the problem. It's a tough raid and I doubt that 200k people worldwide will see that raid first-hand. I'm on a decent-sized server and our top guilds are still working through or farming SSC and TK.

Which heroic is the friendliest for beginners? {WoW}

Nov 12th 2007 1:20PM I've always been a fan of Underbog as an easy heroic. Mech is a nice set of badges, but I hear they're nerfing that next patch as they add badges to the 10-man stuff.

PTR Notes: Aimed Shot changed again {WoW}

Nov 7th 2007 10:21PM I get the impression that lots of folks are missing the point. Hunters are frequently at the top of BG/PvE damage and, in general, a great PvP class. This change is FOR ARENA AND ARENA ONLY.

It's irrelevant to say that hunters are the most-played class. They're the least represented in top arena teams and that's because, if you've cracked into the 1600 area, you begin to find that class combination trumps skill/gear in many cases. There are notable exceptions to this, but hunters are at the bottom of the pile in top tier arena teams. Period.

In other words, this is a buff, but only to arena. It's not going to be a factor in any other area of the game and it remains to be seen whether or not it will be an actual factor in the arena. Most of the people I've talked to seem to think it won't be, but we'll see...

Breakfast Topic: Do healers lag more than others? {WoW}

Nov 4th 2007 10:30AM I would imagine that it's just as the blue said: it's either a convenient excuse or (I think this is more likely) more noticable because of the effect it has on the group.

I would point out, however, that in good five-man runs it shouldn't be the case that the healer gets blamed all the time. in 10- and 25-mans, "recap" tells the true story of healing problems and not individual pulls that result in a wipe.

Breakfast Topic: Are you tired of Trolls? {WoW}

Nov 3rd 2007 9:56AM Yeah...I was a little disappointed to hear that this was a troll-based instance. I'd like to see more in the way of new models/creatures. I know it takes time but...c'mon...Blizzard is making money hand over fist. Pay a few more artists and let's see some entirely new content!

It's not as easy as you think {WoW}

Oct 27th 2007 8:26AM Yeah...I agree basically with the premise of this post, but I do often wonder: what the heck are the doing with the millions and millions and millions and millions and millions of dollars that they're making? I've never seen any kind of financial report from them, but I have trouble believing that enough of their subscribers' dollars are going back into development. Maybe someone else can shed some light on that aspect of the company.

Is it due to a limited talent base? Bigger overhead than most of us think? Overly-cautious financial directors?

Judge Judy: World of What? {WoW}

Oct 24th 2007 7:05AM /Salute Mike Schramm. I find it hard sometimes to be an "adult" in these posts, but your response to Mega was measured and professional. I'm not sure why some folks think that their blogs are professional journals...maybe they've never read one. I'm just glad your website is able to filter through all the crap and give us some entertaining insight on the "news" from WoW. Keep up the good work.

Hands off those shoulders, Arena loser {WoW}

Oct 23rd 2007 3:17PM Yeah...sorry, Krick, but maybe your team just sucked. Try starting a different class combo and you might meet with more success. I'm not saying YOU suck, it's just that some class combinations don't work in the arena.

@8 - Played much arena lately? I thought not.

@11 - I think you're basically on track, Mayo, except that there's a definite "progression" to arena gear. If you're behind in gearing up there's basically no way you're going to break into the upper echelons of arena any time soon. I'm of the opinion that my team is just a tiny bit behind the curve but I can sympathize with folks trying to break into arena late in the game. It's a long, long uphill slog. This new ratings requirement doesn't help with that. It does help with making leet items stay leet, but still...

One last point, though: what DOESN'T just require time and the right gear in this game? Spend time studying strats, gear up by spending time running heroics, earn gold for enchants by spending time farming, etc. etc. etc. It's all about time.
