Mar 20th 2009 3:40PM To all the people who think applications are ridiculous:
If Guild X just recruits any random person for the sake of "having fun" and not being "elitist" and doesn't care who has experience or knows how to play/gear their class, what do you think is going to happen when you go into a raid?
Not sure? Let me tell you.
Assuming there's 3-4 people in the raid who are familiar with, say, Naxxramas, the night would consist of wipe after wipe until people figured each encounter out. Sure, everyone starts out that way at some point but the problem is a lot of people have learned all the basic stuff and don't want to take 3 days to clear Naxx, they like it to take 3 hours instead.
People that have learned to play this game efficiently and effectively prefer to play with others of a similar skill level.
So, how do you screen players that want to get into your guild but have never actually raided with you before?
You ask them to explain their class to you to as proof of knowledge.
You ask them to describe certain boss encounters as proof of experience.
You also ask them a little about themselves personally. This makes a lot of sense since you're going to be spending a lot of time interacting with this person.
Once you get all your answers and responses together you type them all out and post them on the guild's website.
Congratulations, you just applied to a guild.
Too lazy, to do all that? You probably aren't the type of player anyone in that guild wants to raid with.
Mar 2nd 2009 4:25PM ok, I couldn't find it in any patch notes, but i found this instead:
Mar 2nd 2009 4:18PM Seriously.
Please at least read the patch notes for classes you write advice columns on.
They also changed how Infernals work around the same time, in case you missed that as well.
Feb 26th 2009 4:47PM Makes perfect sense to me. They have those as prizes for accomplishing something difficult. Not for all the people that think they accomplished something by getting an "Explorer" title or something equally brainless.
If you want something nice you have to work for it. Don't have the time to be in a raiding guild? Too bad, its just a freaking mount. 310% mounts have always been reserved for the higher echelon players anyway.
They've already dumbed down raid content in general so the casuals won't piss and moan. They make achievements like this so the hardcore players won't piss and moan. Since it can't be both ways they are trying to please as many people as possible and I think they're doing a decent job.

Feb 4th 2009 12:52PM yes, that list is just a guide and not completely reliable. there is a short write-up at the bottom of that page about how they poll the data from each realm and how accurate the info is or isn't.
Feb 4th 2009 12:18PM since i did this for our guild's forum you guys can have it, too:

Dec 2nd 2008 1:44PM it doesn't seem to be on their site. its on the MSN site though.
Oct 27th 2008 1:20PM @zappo
each invaded point on the map has at least 3 nodes where zombies are. I've seen some with 4 so perhaps they all have 4. I got over 120 runes in 2 days.
Oct 17th 2008 4:17PM we went 7/9 BT last night...we were 4/9 before the patch. akama died in under 2 minutes, gorefiend only got one Doom off, did mother with no resist gear. we got council to 4% but people were too tired to try again.
such a joke.
