May 21st 2008 10:17PM I'm not a pvper, never have been in wow and never will be, why? Because wow's pvp system sucks, it's limited to small scale skirmishes due to the battlegrounds and arena systems.
I used to play runescape, there was a place called the wilderness and the deeper you went in, the larger difference of levels you could attack someone at. If you attacked someone, you got a 'skull' on your head, basically a debuff, if you died with the skull on your head, you lost everything but a few of your most expensive items. pvp in that place was very exciting, going there, you knew you could lose everything, and you did whatever humanly possible to not die, yet the rewards you could reap were just as big, sometimes bigger.
The area led to ambushes, trickery and heated battle. I lost many an item, overall probably came out worse off for going there so much but i enjoyed it, you really get a lump in your throat, even in a game such as runescape which isnt half as advanced as wow.
If wow were to implement a gold depositing system and a system where you would lose your gold maybe some of the items in your backpack (not bop items ofc) then i would be well up for a zone where this kind of system is, A zone... not a battle ground or arena, not the whole game, but a zone.
This isn't me wanting to ruin someone elses fun, it's because i want the fun, of being able to beat someone else and actually get a reward whilst at the same time having a huge risk that i must take.
It suprises me the ammount of carebears which post on these articles, complete socials, who want everything unlocked to them, with no concequence that would add a much needed excitement factor, which even though wow is a fantastic game, it lacks excitement in a huge way, simply because it doesn't give much deterant or concenquences.
May 10th 2008 12:51PM It's not about wanting to hold something over other people, not at all. What i don't see though is why i should be expected to put in alot of time and effort to seeing content, which casuals can put in half the effort and get to through 10 mans.
Also it will effect the raid content itself, if you believe otherwise you are foolish.
Kael'thas is a great example, (the one in tk) you couldn't just tune it down to 10 man through tweaks, the whole fight mechanics and encounter would have to change completely. Do you think blizzard will totally rehaul whole encounters for the 10 and 25 man versions? No, theyre going to tweek and to make a 25 man easily tweakable to 10 man, it means they have to be less complex.
How can i enjoy new content if it's watered down to be fit for 10 man raiding also? This will impact my fun, so that people who don't put effort in can see it.
Can't you fucking casuals be happy with the badge loot? You get the shinies for 5 mans. You get some pieces which are better than anything offered in mh/bt... i know since i had to farm 150 badges to get an item that was better than my bt versions.
Be happy with your 5 mans, be happy with a few 10 mans, be happy with welfare epics... but no... instead you push blizzard into making everything completely open so that you whine less on the forums, and cry less about you £9 being as good as mine. Thats fine... content was never closed to anyone, you simply had to put effort to get there.
Problem is, i can explain this until my fingers are worn to the bone, but you selfish completely ignorant individuals will never change your point of view and will never look at it from a real raiders side.
May 9th 2008 5:25PM that is complete horse crap.
How did ANYONE not have the access to the raid instances? Through commitment you get there. Pre tbc i was in a guild who were merely half way through AQ40. Now im in a guild which is in Sunwell and farming bt something silly.
People who say 'it cannot be done' are fools and do not deserve to see the content. I've seen people make alts, hop from guild to guild making small steps in progression and reaching the top, all the casuals do is QQ 'we pay our money we want to see and do everything!' put the freakin work in then and stop leeching.
May 9th 2008 5:20PM This for me could be the end of my time in wow. I've watched none raiders be spoon fed epics from badges, i watched them be spoon fed from pvp but now to go this far? Why should i put hard effort into beating top end content when some scrub can just do it on 10 man easy mode? Loot means bugger all anymore and now the content itself will suffer.
Do you honestly think blizzard will completely remake encounters soley based on the number of players? No, they're just going to tweek the encounters from 25 man to 10 man. Can you see Kael'thas as something which you could just tweek and make work for both 25 man and 10? the answer is no, it would need a whole new redesign. So what will they do? Simple, they're going to make the bosses work for 10 mans, then theyre going to add like 1 extra ability to the boss, up it's hp and damage done. Bye bye complex 25 man fights.
If you allow everyone to see and experience everything, the experience is worth nothing.
Apr 9th 2008 11:05AM Man,
you guys are so sad. Going around reporting every little abuse of the policies somehow makes you feel big eh?
So what if someone else has a name that you don't like, don't interact with them. It IS because of shady little nit pickers like you people that RP realms and people on them are frowned upon. You are seen as 'geeks' and 'nerds', even by the rest of the wow community because you are, to a bigger extent than any others.
Sure, if a name is truely offensive, report it but you don't need a mod which makes mass reporting easier for the ammount of those you find around, do you? Gah it's just so sad. Do you honestly believe the person deserves their name to be changed because your pants are riding up your ass? Or an account warning?
Jul 25th 2007 11:07PM This mount looks seriously awesome, if i dont get it in this contest, ill certainly be chasing one in the tcg!
