May 5th 2009 12:39PM I'm wearily waiting for a holiday achievement that involves doing something in the Arena. That will be the bridge I absolutely, positively do not cross. I have not stepped in the Arena and do not plan to do so any time soon.
I can understand the thinking behind this at Blizzard. . . "People will need to go into BGs to do this and those who didn't realise what fun it was will come back." The problem with this thinking is the percentage of "never BG'd, liked it and returned" is going to be dwarfed by the percentage of "never BG'd and resent Blizz for forcing me to do this crap to finish the meta".
And, for those who say "Nobody's forcing you to get the meta", nobody forces me to go to work either. . . but if I want the reward (title and mount on one hand, paying rent and eating without relying on the dole on the other hand) I have to go through the hoops. Blizzard sets the rules and it's their game. But I'm a player and allowed to a) be angry at the stupidity inside the game, b) provide feedback (which I did both via GM ticket and feedback on suggestions forum) and c) share my annoyance with other people. Don't want to hear me, feel free to ignore me, but it doesn't invalidate my reaction.
May 1st 2009 2:29PM I don't think it's necessarily sexist, but wish they'd have made it all genders just because it was a royal pain to find a female dwarf, tauren, gnome and troll (in that order). Spent more time looking for appropriate flower targets than I did waiting for the flowers to finish their cooldown.
Apr 30th 2009 11:20AM This.
Apr 21st 2009 10:25AM Dual specs aren't required, but if you want gear for a dual spec you a) need to be talented and glyphed for it and b) have your dual spec gear raid ready and with you.
Our loot priority is: main -> dual spec -> applicant main -> applicant dual spec -> PVP -> shard. If you take a piece for main set, you're charged full EPGP price. If you take a piece for dual spec, you're charged 10% EPGP price. So, it's to your favor to be prepared for dual spec if you want to take advantage of the reduced dual spec EPGP price. Nobody's forced to do it, but the system is set up to reward it.
Mar 25th 2009 2:40PM This is further proof that people only Arena for the gear. Gear's easier to get in Naxx than it was in any of the BC content, so people raid for it instead of Arena'ing for it. If there's not a carrot there to get people into the Arenas, people don't play there. Arenas having to compete on equal grounds with Raiding loses out. . . as someone who's never stepped foot inside an Arena (because I hated the "PLZ COME GET FREE EPIX!!!" nature of Arenas in BC), I can't say I'm surprised.
Mar 23rd 2009 2:40PM Because the comments in Lightheaded are cached, not updated automatically and could be weeks or months old (and not reflective of more current information). Also, links on Wowhead can be followed, links in Lightheaded only take up space.
Mar 9th 2009 2:00PM We raid four nights a week: 2 hours for three of them, 5 hours on Sunday. We do Sarth 3D and Maly on the 2 hour nights. If we can't get Sarth 3D down within a couple of hours, we'll beatdown on Shadron, then farm Sarth 2D. We generally wait until there's 10-15 minutes left before trash respawns to take this way out, but we do.
I actually just posted on our guild forums about how to handle the hard modes on the watchers since they'll be required now for progression into Algalon (which will likely be the real end boss for the instance and the one with the most weight given to it by guild ranking sites). I'm sure it'll be an "interesting" conversation.
Feb 27th 2009 7:06PM Warlock loot? I'm a balance druid and this is my go-to until I can get that awesome 520 spellpower mace. The +hit on the Soulblade is pretty awesome and one of the primary reasons I use it.
Feb 27th 2009 10:41AM Awesome that they opened up testing on Hodir.
Full of suck that the server could not handle the load. The two hardest parts of the Hodir encounter were trying to resurrect the World Server and outlasting the loading bar.
Feb 24th 2009 2:12PM Yes, you're the only one. I know several folks on my server that got the bow. Sunwell was hard, but doable (especially post-Nerf and post-3.0)
