Ghostcrawler's tips on Loken {WoW}

Dec 16th 2008 11:14AM Wow, if only the rest of us were as cool and knowledgeable as you are. We all envy your uberness. Keep up the good work.

Ghostcrawler's tips on Loken {WoW}

Dec 16th 2008 11:12AM As a Death Knight tank, I have had better luck taking down Loken on Heroic with a Paladin healing. Granted 2/5 people died on the first Nova, so he only had to keep 2 of us alive. But once we had the pattern down it was just a matter of time.

I love and hate that encounter. It can be a real brick wall depending on the group, or it can make you feel awesome when you one-shot it on Heroic. And when he finally dropped my Defense trinket I was really ecstatic lol.

New items show up in Patch 3.0.8 {WoW}

Dec 15th 2008 12:41PM The extra mitigation (even if you are already defense capped) is paramount for DK tanks. We have no shield to block with, so we rely on parry/dodge to mitigate our damage. Also, our Icebound Fortitude will now scale up with defense, so if used in parallel with this Sigil proc you could increase the damage reduction of this spell. It is very useful for all DK tanks, defense capped or not.

Dec 12th 2008 12:16PM Most DKs, especially ones capable of pwning you, aren't running around in Frost Presence. It does nothing for our damage in a fight. It is specifically for mitigation and threat. Do a little more reading before posting your QQ here please.

I have to agree with Raedix. You may see us as overpowered, but we have plenty of weak points (especially when it comes to tanking). There is one side to some of these buffs that you aren't seeing. The buff to tanking base mitigation is also directly nerfing DPS DK survivability in PvP.

By reducing Icebound Fortitude to 20% damage reduction (that scales back up with Defense Rating) DKs are forced to gear as tanks if they want the full benefit from that buff. The increase to base mitigation from Frost Presence directly balances the nerf to Bone Shield. As most DPS DKs will not be in Frost Presence, they are taking a hit to their Bone Shield mitigation.

You will have to take everything in stride for a while. Keep in mind that Blizzards policy is to over-correct (whether it is a huge buff or huge nerf) then fine tune back to get to where they want things at. With this being a brand new class, they are going to be making a lot of changes of the next few months to balance everything out. Until then, try to keep your whinefest to a minimum :P

Dec 12th 2008 10:53AM Some of us are tanks lol. I am specd for Unholy tanking, and I love it. I have been the guild off-tank in Naxx every raid night (so far). I actually just got my trinket from HoL last night, so I am finally over the defense cap lol (currently sitting at 546 Defense).
