The Queue: I need to read more {WoW}

Mar 28th 2012 12:38PM Mathew, for some good reading, I'd start here:

I'd also suggest The Dresden Files and Felix Castor if you're a fan of Urban Fantasy.

Mists of Pandaria beta opt-in and official FAQ {WoW}

Mar 21st 2012 2:19AM I really hope Bibi is right, and beta begins either this week or the next...

I just hope that being a subscriber since spring of 2005, and signing up for the annual pass on day 1 gets me in within the first few waves of invites. It'll be nice to finally get into a beta, I've not managed to get into any of the previous ones.

Breakfast Topic: Should Blizzard take away earned titles and rewards? {WoW}

Feb 10th 2011 8:46AM I'm rather pissed off at this change. I got this in Wrath, and it was difficult. I did nearly every quest I could find for Night Elves, Gnomes, and Humans to get city rep. I got lucky by hitting exalted with IF through Alterac Valley. I'd do runecloth runs. The Argent Tournament wasn't around to make city rep easy to get. I spent hours in BT, Hyjal, and ICC for those raid reputations (when they were new, so not as hard). I grouped with a guildie to run Stratt for Scourgestones at the end of BC. I even went back to Outlands with guildies to get the rep I needed. And I still had to grind those fun reputations like Timbermaw. I was even contemplating soloing MC for items to turn in for Thorium Brotherhood rep. I only got out of that because dungeons started giving Frostborn and Explorer's league rep when you weren't wearing a different tabard.

These weren't easy reputations to gain. Then the Cataclysm happens, and some reputations become ridiculously easy. Thorium Brotherhood quests give thousands of rep now. I've heard the Argent Dawn is similar. At 85, you can steamroll through Outlands Heroics. Even Shattered Halls, which stopped me about 3 mobs in at 80, was a joke. The extra health makes it easy to get.

Now, I'm pissed because the only reputations left are pretty hard. I have to regain a Scholazar rep, because I foolishly thought switching would keep Oracles counted (it doesn't, swapping to Frenzyheart dropped me to 44 reputations). Ramkahen, Earthen Ring, and Gilneas will leave me with 48. After that? Guild rep, and figure out whether I'd rather grind a Steamwheedle rep (lots of quests left, which could help), or do Wintersabers... It's a slap in the face to have grinded hard reputations originally, and now have to grind more, some of which are quite tedius.

AddOn Spotlight: Automaton {WoW}

Feb 25th 2010 6:18PM Automaton is a handy mod I picked up to ensure I never missed a raid invite while I was making a sandwich or something. It's a great thing to have, but it does leave you feeling as though you've been ninja'd by friends volunteering you for groups.

The auto summon is another fun one, especially when the delay is off. You can get summoned out of instances, or be standing at a mailbox getting a flask, only to be yanked straight to the instance.
