Mar 19th 2010 12:19PM I dont like the silly devs should get money every time a game is sold rehtoric. I will buy games new when I can but the bottom line is they are not owed it. Im sure every manufacture in the world wished they made money everytime their product changed hands but the world is not that way there are used houses, cars, clothing, electronics, games, books, music, movies etc. These items are the property of the people that buy them to do what they please including selling them.
If there are 30 copies of a game on the store shelfs it is normally because the game was not compelling enough for people to keep it or it was a short game or its been out a while. I think DLC and the perks are a great way to sell new game or at least sell new content. I dont deny this is a challenge for devs cause they need to sell new units and i want to support them but it is not owed them.
Nov 23rd 2009 5:12PM I sort of hope they win though I have my doubts. But it would mean cheaper harddrives and memory cards so I do hope they fair well.
Nov 19th 2009 3:46PM I don't think its bad bootleggers got banned. But I do admit does seem shaddy with the timing. There have been rummors that MS has done this before too with bans to boost holiday sales. And if these folks are not buying games it is not a fair representation of the number of units in home. MS is not going to subtract these systems when they list total units purchased but is not an accurate representation of install base.
It also seems they are only banning the systems so people can use these accounts with unmodded systems. This serves two purposes in my opinion. One you have some bait in the achievments earned existing friends and leftover time to bait people back a little bit. And it does protect the unsuspecting person that plugs in at a friends house on a modded system without their knowledge or those that buy used, though stupid as it may be its not their fault if they were to get banned for that reason.
But appearently the new systems DVD drives are not flashable yet so maybe this was just planned this way to get the old stock out of the way. Put out a system that is much harder to compromise. Let the pirates get sloppy and clear them all at once I mean if they banned the day they find out someone is cheating it may prompt a better firmware they cannot detect or takes more time so by holding off they know how to detect it they may be able to stop more pirates. I suspect a little column A and little column B.
Oct 22nd 2009 12:38PM It sucks they MS are doing this does seem very d-baggish. I bought one of these at best buy cause I figured they were either licensed or done in a way that does not break the rules. And it was 10 bucks more than MS offering for more space. If they broke DMC(Digital Millinium Copywright law)aka had to tamper with MS code to make this work they would be in a world of hurt and it would not be legal. In fact if this was illegal I would imagine MS would have suit against Datel.
So though not illegal for someone to make a memory card for the system MS can also choose to make it not work. I think that that is the definision of dbaggery.
Now if ms would offer decent sized memory cards even at inflated prices cause yes 40 bucks for the 2 gig Datel is way inflated I would not have considered 3rd party.
Oct 19th 2009 12:06PM Time to track down my reciept and return mine to best buy wanted one and it was only 10 bucks more for 4 x the storage, Dick move indeed Microsoft.
Jun 17th 2009 1:01PM So what is the point of them going non DRM then. It seems silly not to allow the syncing to non apple devices on non drm content. I understand not giving indepth support for non apple products and I understand not liking a vendor faking pretending to be an ipod and thus compromising their DRM. But its there platform and they can do what they like even if it seem petty to me(so I can pay for a song apple gets money on but they dont want me using their software I bought it on to copy it to a non apple portable music device? If they had stuck with this elitism where itunes would only work on Mac where would they be?). Just one more reason to go with Amazon for my purchases of music even though its for my iPhone. And yes im sure itunes music can be moved other ways but how hard is it to put a copy option in the app.
Jun 12th 2009 2:46PM I think pressure made him change this but I think he was right. PSP Go doesnt offer anything truely new at a bloated price. They could have made money, The PSP is not a iPod but it could compete if done right especially if they price it for much less than the competition.
Jun 11th 2009 3:25PM Haze had way more hype than it delivered on and that is why it failed. Hard to say why they didnt deliver maybe it was just to early in systems cycle, maybe it just had no soul and was a generic vanilla turd. But no doubt it would have been better off to be an unknown than be a touted exclusive.
On another note this argument really is not any different than valves funny how people get feelers hurt when companies do what works best for them. Its lazy when one company does it and the other is not greedy when they do. I love the internet people are so interesting.
May 19th 2009 2:38PM I would love this to be a FM tuner but it states this a a FM Transmiter probably like the ones that allow you to play music in your car from your Iphone. Would be nice if this could be used to recieve FM too though.
