Ask TUAW: Backup Boot Camp, RARs, OS X in foreign languages, syncing Outlook to iPhone, and more {}

Jun 10th 2008 5:33PM Being off from University for the summer I don't want to waste all my free time, I'd really like to learn XCode after developing programs in Visual Basic in school for a few years. What sites/books do you recommend that are totally noob friendly? Apple's documentation is helpful but coming from the terribly simple VB environment all this objective C stuff is a bit overwhelming for me and I would really like something to hold my hand through it all.

Apr 20th 2008 2:36PM Is there any way to get quick look, finder, etc to be able to view .ai (Adobe Illustrator) files like it can view .PSDs?

O2 offers iPhone savings for UK buyers {}

Apr 16th 2008 12:57PM Got mine this morning. It's awesome. Used ziPhone (which messed up a little, fixed in the end though.) to unlock and jailbreak it so now I'm using my O2 pay as you go sim. Unfortunately, apps are having problems installing. But that doesn't really bother me.

Ask TUAW: Syncing from a portable to a desktop Mac, battery comparisons, Apple TV to NAS, iPhone SDK and more {}

Mar 14th 2008 6:35AM BTW, I want to use an O2 sim on Pay As You Go. I'm kind of a noob with all this. So a complete walkthrough from start to finish would be nice (even one from another site not as good as yourselves.)

Mar 14th 2008 6:23AM Dear TUAW:

I'm considering shelling out for an iPhone but I really won't be able to deal with the contract since I'm on a irregular income and being a student and all. I heard when you buy an iPhone (I'm in the UK, so it's from O2) you choose your plan through iTunes. If so, is it possible to unlock it before I choose a package, and if it is possible, how do I do it?

Feb 8th 2008 5:15PM Dear TUAW:
I'm trying to move my iTunes library over to an external Hard Drive. I've copied over the iTunes Music Folder leaving the database in User:Music:iTunes folder. Changed the file option in the advanced menu and clicked OK so it had changed all the file paths in the database. (I confirmed this by checking the info) However, later it said the file wasn't found when it was where the destination pointed to. Also, my iTunes Music Folder magically appeared back in User:Music:iTunes even after deleting it. So now I've had to delete everything from my library and add it again. Now, how the hell can I stop iTunes from placing a copy of my 40GB iTunes Music Folder in the internal drive and keep it on the external, which was the whole reason I bought it.

Rerolling for fun and... well, for fun, there's no profit. {WoW}

Aug 30th 2007 2:44AM woot! Tis my question!

I just got bored of my hunter, but I played a warrior before so I've went back to that class on a different server and different faction.

Blackboard promises not to sue open-source software makers {Download Squad}

Feb 5th 2007 12:59PM My college uses blackboard but the damn thing never works right. It always logs us in as the wrong accounts, which is seriously annoying.

But what about this? "however Blackboard has vowed to continue to go after their major competitor"
What happenes when an open source alternative is their nearest competitor?

Griffin iTrips to be legalized in Ireland {}

Sep 6th 2006 6:15AM "I can't wait until Apple stores are legalized in Ireland??!!!"

Here, here! Belfast is in desperate need of one. Currys advise you not to buy Macs and PC World don't like customers being able to boot them up. (Believe me, I did it yesterday. Some member of staff came round and locked out the blackbook while I was drooling over the 20" iMac.)
