Naxxramas gear by type {WoW}

Mar 18th 2009 10:55PM I've been messing around with wow-heroes.com realm rakings based on their gear score system and recently found the option to just filter on healers. And I noticed that, at least for my realm, the vast majority of those listed as having good gear are holy pally's. I guess the analysis in this article goes at least part the way to explaining why that is the case, increased supply and no competition. Obviously not the full story but definitely a factor.

I've also noticed the tendency for the druid tier tokens to drop (resto druid myself) but that seems like it would be the case anyway because it has 4 classes on that token rather than the 3 on the others. I'm guessing there is an intended bias for that reason. Still damned if I can win the rolls to get them for myself due to the increased competition for that token within the 4 classes. It probably balances out in the end.

Powershifting mostly killed in Wrath {WoW}

Aug 29th 2008 1:11AM Everyone needs to take a step back and look at this from another angle. You now have ~4 seconds between the shift out of and back into cat form to play with before you get the full benefit of the furvor talent.

These ~4 seconds can be used to pass on the nerf to other classes in the raid making your DPS relatively higher. All you have to do is get off a few lifeblooms on the rogues and fury warriors in the raid and let that last tick add a nice slab of threat to them so they need to slow down DPS there by increasing your dps relatively. *que evil laughter*

Then again you could throw a lifebloom on the tank and the whole raid could benefit from the added threat and fraction more healing......doesn't seem like as much fun though...still its a ~4 second window to get some nice use of your hybrid capabilities in any form if you are intending to jump back into cat form.

Ask a Lore Nerd: Only a little broken {WoW}

Jul 14th 2008 1:41AM Stepping away from the lore, if you swim around the coast in behind SW, there is a little shack there, not far from there is a patch of coast that shows that you are in the SW zone. Been a while since I did it and there was but its only a little jetty and shack so not really a busy harbour. Still the zone is there for a change in scenery if it was needed I guess.

Ultrasafe: The prestige, perils, and prestidigitization of Gnomish dimensional travel {WoW}

Jan 16th 2008 11:59PM If you pick up on for the race and/or gender changes from the Toshley Station Transport and you happen to be a warrior. Try flicking through all your stances. about 2/3 stance changes should result in you taking on a new race/gender and sampling their sense of dance and humour.

On the occasional mount and dismount the race will also seems fluctuate, and I think there is one other trigger (without a portal) that causes the switch but I didn't get the chance to work it out and I've not seen this effect for quite some time.

You're flagged, you sap! {WoW}

Sep 27th 2007 3:12AM My main being a warrior I'd never encountered this until a rogue decided to have some fun with a hunter guild mate and I at one of the pvp towers in Nagrand. He'd alternate between us and just kept on Sapping. After the 3rd time it was getting old and even though with flares we could briefly see him we couldn't stop him since he wasn't flagged.

Out of desperation I decided to try throwing one of my surplus bombs from leveling engineering. I managed to target and time it so it hit, normally this had no effect at all, but to my surprise it hit, stunned and flagged him. Took me a little while to react and bridge the distance, and he took off sprinting like the coward he was, a satisfying intercept got him again. In hindsight that would have been a good time to hamstring him and finish him off but a lack of pvp experience meant he got away when the intercept stun wore off. Perhaps if my guild mate had of been able to come to bare in time it would have been all the more satisfying.

I've not had another chance to test to see if that same trick was a fluke or repeatable, but that time Engineering came to the party with another limited use.

WoW Rookie: Traveling around Azeroth {WoW}

Jul 31st 2007 9:51PM @ 25 - It worked this weekend as I ran from Ratchet to Theramore on a lvl 25. Perhaps you mis-understood. I meant you need to be alive when you run within the graveyards rez range, once you are in the Theramore map you will die pretty quickly and will have your spirit sent to the Theramore grave yard when you release, rez at the spirit healer and its a short walk to the flight path. Thus saving you the need to do multiple corpse runs.

I usually work my way from north to sorth getting all the flight paths, up until Theramore you can usually do it unharmed (Azshara can be a bit trickly with the horde towns on the way). Once you have theramore you have a way to easily access the middle of Kalimdor but catching the boat across. As a final step picking up the flight path to Thousand Needles and Gadgetzan and I'm set for flight paths on Kalimdor for many levels.

WoW Rookie: Traveling around Azeroth {WoW}

Jul 31st 2007 6:14AM There is also the grave rez trick too, if you can manage to get a low level character to run within the rez range of a grave yard near your destination you can save a bit of time.

For example running into Theramore Island from Ratchet and and in from the East side of Searing Gorge you can then rez right beside the FP to pick it up without doing multiple Rez runs.

This week in the Arena {WoW}

Jul 13th 2007 12:38AM Warriors, Priest and Paladin's on the 3v3 and 5v5 arenas. I wonder if they got sick of their traditional roles in Instances and wanted a change?
