Sep 13th 2011 5:59PM You make some very good points. There is no personal attachment to Deathwing at all. Ironically, they did a good job planting the seed for him in BC with the Netherwing Ledge quests. But unless my memory escapes me (quite possible as I'm getting up there!) they didn't mention him at all in WotLK until the Ruby Sanctum. You can't just flip a switch to "activate" the next bad guy and expect anybody to care. They should have been preparing for him ahead of time. They didn't need to do this with Lich King because he wasn't a "new" bad guy (I know DW isn't "new" either but let's face it, probably less than 5% of WoW's current players played WC2). From a story telling perspective, they could have planted more lore to get everybody familiar in preparation for Cataclysm. They could have done a caverns of time dungeon to get the lore familiar. They could have done some side quests to show that he is up to no good. Geez, they couldn't have hinted that he had machinations anywhere in the Maw of Neltharion??? Really?
Despite whatever gripe you had about WotLK's gameplay, you still knew what Arthas was about and why he was bad for Azeroth. He has been in your WoW life since you leveled your first toon.
I'm aware I'm rambling at this point but the story for Cataclysm feels like a shoe horn for updating old Azeroth, rather than the update of Azeroth being a tool for telling the story.
Blizzard: "Hey, look at all these remade zones, talent trees, and guild systems...oh yeah, there's a story with an angry dragon too!"
Sep 23rd 2010 5:26PM Sooooo jealous of you guys that have wives that play. Happy for you though! I hope your adventures together are pleasant. Mine are on hold while I pop popcorn for The Food Network.
Jul 22nd 2010 12:16PM I think that Rets will be using the Word of Glory more than you think (at least in PVP). Art of War appears to be dropping the instant Holy Light proc and a Holy Power Word of Light will most likely be how they compensate for that.
Jul 22nd 2010 12:07PM Our new theme song.
That is all.

Apr 14th 2010 12:40PM I don't really understand the change to sacred shield either. It will be nice to have that extra GCD every minute but other than that, what is the reasoning behind it?
Apr 14th 2010 12:26PM I think I'm falling into this boat as well.
First off, I don't understand how ANYBODY can call Flash of Light an expensive spell. Raid buffed, I can practically cast it forever.
Second. Blizzard, let me introduce you to Holy Light, the best "big heal" in the game. Why change it to a medium efficient heal?
Third. You don't want us to be pigeon holed into tank healing. So lets make it so our most used shield can protect a tank for 30 minutes? That's a mixed message to me.
Fourth. I thought the emphasis for Cata was on "fun" spells. Fire and Forget spells aren't really that fun. They are just a button you push when the cooldown is up. Like Ret.
Color me underwhelmed.
Apr 13th 2010 6:35PM Wow! Two whole screenshots. Of pre-existing landscape tiles nonetheless. I wonder how many developer cycles they spent on that!
Bravo Team Blizzard, you really went above and beyond there.
