Breakfast Topic: World PvP {WoW}

Apr 8th 2010 12:17PM I leveled my 10 toons to 70 on a PVP server and then, when Wrath was released, payed to transfer them to a PVE server and have never looked back. I am very content and don't miss the PVP at all. Recently I started getting back into battlegrounds and do enjoy the contests within those environments.

What the author of this article romanticizes about exists but, unfortunately, only within the still-intact skulls of the skirmish victors. Non-BG and arena PVP battles are similar in style to that of the Hyaena and the feeding habits of other offal-eating predators.

Rarely do you see a balanced fight in free-for-all PVP -- the sides are always skewed and underdog victories are few and far between. Griefing is an an especially reprehensible (and permissible ) practice born of a vicious circle - you did it to me and I remember how much it pissed me off, so now I am doing it to you. Geared 80's romp through newby-lands and lay waste simply for the joy of disruption and seeding frustration and resentment - there is no competitive spirit, seeking victory through honorable combat (again, a romanticized notion existing only in fiction), or the desire to honestly test one's skills against another similarly geared.

It's mostly school-yard bullying on an epic scale and the bigger the bully, the more over-balanced the clash, the louder the crowing by the victor of their "victory" and their so-called epeen skills.

Any student of history, or comabt veteran, will tell you that, in combat, there's no such thing as a fair or honorable fight. Those willing to suck the mire from the trenches in which they relieve themselves will emerge as the victors. PVP in Blizzard's world is merely an accurate reflection, a simulation, of this habit.

Disappointment with the patch 3.1 game world {WoW}

May 7th 2009 3:46PM I think Blizz limped out 3.1 in an effort to try to keep as many subscribers mildly interested as possible until D3 is released. Then you'll see The Exodus that war or any other MMO failed to generate thus far.

Crapsicles - the game is so boring now. Argent Tourney is pvp for people either afraid of real pvp or using their skill bars, IDK and, more importantly, don't really care. Now I see a bunch of uncle-touchy types wandering around Dalaran trailing their little boys along. Just. Plain. Stupid.

Ulduar first boss royally put me off -- I'm glad I spent all that time & effort getting naxx on-farm for my t7.5 gear to spend my first encounter mashing buttons like some drooling xbox sycophant. Ooo...the excitement...

Line up the teeth-and-hair people at Blizzard like the bunch of lame pack-mules they are, and trundle them back over to Activision, please.

Lichborne: It's been one week (of 3.1) {WoW}

Mar 3rd 2009 3:16PM Lol @ dks.

imo, blizz put dk's in the game to facilitate the transition of serious players over to Diablo III when it's released.

And the button-mashers shall inherit the op.

Or something like that....

Ask WoW Insider: The joy of ganking {WoW}

Nov 11th 2008 9:42AM I trial'ed on a PvE server and then, later when I created my account I rolled on a PvP server without understanding the difference between the two. Sux 2 b me.

I freakin' hate PvP. Asshats, (who shall go nameless because I don't want to even think about the subsequent masturbation-frenzy after the poor acne-sufferers see their name in recognition), who gank lowbs for the sheer misplaced thrill of it all, have a very special place in hell reserved for them. Maybe it's all for the best tho - the game has probably helped several serial killers from realizing their full potential.

Six level 70's later...raiding good...PvP relegated to battlegrounds and arena... ganking my alt still ruins the game for me regardless of how many times I get out a 70 and crush them like the over-compensating little dung beetles they are.

What boils my blood in particular about the situation is the heavy-handed wallet-abuse Blizzard inflicts on us for wanting to leave one server for another. $20/toon is nothing short of aggravated-assault considering all Bliz has to do, basically, is execute a few shell scripts to transfer characters. I've got two teenage boys I'm feeding; My $15/month subscription composes my entire entertainment budget most months.

How about a forgiveness week, once a year, where you can transfer unlimited toons for $100? Or a whole account from one server to another for free, even? Ho-ho?

If I wanted to play pointless, empty-headed, clicking games, I would have bought a pointless, empty-headed clicking game.
