Oct 14th 2008 10:38PM And it went live for many more thousands more computers.
Be realistic. Say you're opening a restuarant. To test your food, you invite a couple dozen people in. Things are going ok. So you open your doors, and find out those couple dozen people have each told twenty people how awesome your restuarant is.
Will your kitchen handle it?
Oct 14th 2008 9:11PM I can understand this.
We were supposed to have a new e-commerce site up in April. Webmaster promised it'd be ready. We put it up in September. Then immediately had to take it down because it was buggy. It's still buggy. We try it every couple days.
In short, nothing works on the internet quite how it worked when you were testing it on just a few machines through an intranet.
Oct 14th 2008 12:50AM But the funny thing is, I have now my threat shield and my EH shield. Threat shield gets spikes. With this new talent now making every EH shield into a threat shield ... why not just stack Stamina on your one and only shield?
Oct 13th 2008 10:58PM I suppose I can forget about selling shield spikes any more. Why did I grind Thrallmar rep to exalted again? I mean, ~25 damage isn't much when people are getting a free 100+ damage anyway.
Then again, I started playing around with the Prot talents today, and I'm pretty impressed with what's out there.
Oct 10th 2008 1:39PM Damn. Now I'm going to have to build all new talents. I've gotten comfortable with my specs over the past couple years.
Oct 8th 2008 4:41PM Don't complain that Blizzard isn't doing enough to enforce TOS and then turn around with a big sob story about someone who may have been wrongfully accused of something and got a temporary ban.
Oct 6th 2008 11:54PM I'm glad to see lots of Arena rankings going into the high-end PVP sets. To me, that's the equivalent of having the skill and dedication to get into, stick with through progression, and finally down an endgame boss. I've seen people doing things that would get them kicked from regular lv70 5-mans for being idiots, though they have gear far superior that came from PVP.
Personally, I'm no fan of PVP. My first toon spent roughly 3 months at 49 waiting for a friend to catch up to me in levels ... doing nothing but BGs. Pretty much killed it for me. Did one Arena with an old guildmate and that was enough to show me that it wasn't for me.
I don't want to see it removed from the game. I would like to see some admission from the WoW community that as PVP gear is right now, at least for DPS classes, it's easier to solo to 70, spend a couple weekends mashing buttons in a BG and get gear than to do 5-mans for gear. Probably comes from resentment as a Warrior tank. Gearing up just to be ready for Kara involved learning threat rotations (different than just doing DPS, something that translates well from PVP to PVE with minor adjustments), running 5-mans repeatedly for gear, then doing Kara and heroics for more gear.
Right now, there seems to be a disconnect. When you do a BG, you automatically get honor points. Doesn't matter what you did. Doesn't matter if you know how to play your class, or even if you bothered to do anything to help your team. It's a very anonymous system -- you may enter a BG and be the only person from your server in that particular BG. But you get your points. Do that enough times and you are guaranteed an upgrade. But in PVE, you're going to be recognizable to the other four people you have to work with. If you're proving to be ineffectual, they'll kick you. And you could be the epitome of class perfection: you have the perfect gear, perfect spec, perfect enchants, perfect ability rotation, perfect decisions ... and still spend a month being perfect and getting nothing out of it.
Requiring a high Arena rating is, I think, a step toward making the acquisition of PVP gear more in line with the model of obtaining PVE gear.
Oct 6th 2008 5:30PM I support resist fights for the simple reason that it makes sense that there are baddies out there that require a completely different method and gear to down.
Oct 6th 2008 8:48AM No real opinion. I take the holiday stuff as a little extra content. I never look forward to it, and when it's there, I participate if asked. I tanked the boss a few times because I was asked, but I'd never call out "Tank LFG for Brewfest".
Oct 3rd 2008 3:44PM This month's payment will finally get me some gems for my new 70 warlock. I feel like a boob running around in FSW gear without gems.
