As a warlock, (mortal enemey to Mages everywhere,) I agree that you gotta be happy so long as someone in the world has this.
But on the flip side of the coin... Now I want to be able to use Curse of Doom on players... Expecally Mages. (COD, its the 4k DOT that up till now could only be used in pve.)
Heres to the prayer that we all get what we want.
Too bad mages can remove curses. That would make burning the 60 second cooldown a complete waste. But it would definitely be nice when cast on someone who can't dispel. I could see it being used every time the cooldown was up, especially when used in conjunction with Amplify Curse.
Sep 6th 2008 6:22PM Definitely confirmed on this one.
Just started playing the beta myself last night, when I first logged in, I noticed I had mail. While I was doing the initial DK quests out of Ebon Hold (I won't post spoilers) the town you're sent to for your first series of tasks has a mailbox that offers a quest, and, incidentally, contained the penguin non-combat pet.
Sep 4th 2008 5:13PM Except that the threat wouldn't go to the tank, it would go to you.
AoE's like this, and seed of corruption generate a retarded amount of threat for the caster. Just ask any lock who's had to spam seed of corruption in the illhoof fight and you'll know that once you land an AoE like this, getting those mobs pulled off you is really hard, if not impossible.
Aug 30th 2008 8:02PM Ok, I didn't even know about Living Bomb until I read this article just now. I followed the link to wowhead because I wanted to learn more specifics about the spell.
It is my impression based off the information on wowhead, that this spell has no cooldown, is instant cast, and may not be affect by GCD.
Even without factoring in a GCD, this is definitely OP. People complain enough about seed of corruption, at least that has a cast time.
Mages shouldn't be able to cast this on the run, it's way too overpowered, especially if stackable by multiple mages. It's a wonderful ability, and puts mages back to being the kings of AoE, but please blizz, at least give it a 1.5 second cast...
Aug 28th 2008 2:07AM A couple months ago I switched to a new cell phone provider, and had a hard time finding any sources for free ringtones that would work on the phone. I did, however, find a service that allows me to pay $1.99 a month for access to unlimited ringtones, apps, games, and wallpapers, even those I create and upload myself.
That being said, the horrific murloc sound is my notification for voicemails and text messages, since those are the most likely to annoy me. I found it very fitting. Plus it makes it easier to find fellow WoW players in public places.
Play that gurgling murloc sound, and if someone is startled or disgusted or looks at you with a puzzled look on their face, it's just funny. If someone laughs... I ask what server they play on...
Aug 3rd 2008 7:43PM If you're being beaten by locks as a pally there's something seriously wrong with your play style... I'm sure you at least can trinket out of fear, and your bubble negates our dots. At least with a priests bubble we can still land the dots to eat away at the bubble or wait for it to disappear. Pally bubbles? Gotta wait. Complete immunity to everything.
I play an SL/SL lock in pretty decent gear with nearly 400 resil and 1200 spell damage when buffed, and a pally can give me a good run for my money if they time their stuns right and bubble at the right time. Simply put, SL/SL locks, the only locks with any real pvp survivability, have no real burst damage save for a 1.5 second cast searing pain or a 2 second immolate. And these just aren't hitting hard enough to be staples of burst damage.
Seriously though, use trinkets intelligently, time stuns during fear casts, bubble AFTER we've dotted you, and just heal when you need to... remember, fear is on diminished returns. No lock stands a chance against you. I can't believe I had to spell this out for you...
Jun 28th 2008 6:55PM Incidentally the entire time I spent leveling my lock to 70, as many times as I went to Theramore, I never saw this guy.
Then when I was in the process of leveling my rogue, I finally saw him. The first time I kind of freaked out like "ZOMG SKULL LEVEL BOSS" but realized it was part of a quest once I did it.
From then on I just used him to level weapon skills. You won't aggro him unless all the guards die and the player doing the quest dies.
Jun 27th 2008 12:34AM Perhaps, but shadowmeld breaks when you move, requiring you to be still. I don't think that argument is valid.
Jun 19th 2008 12:39AM I play both a 70 rogue and a 70 lock, and I must say I am pleased with this change. I think it's more balanced, and makes us depend more on our gear to survive, just like everybody else. It will be nice to know my dots actually have a chance in hell of killing the rogue that just blew his cloak and procced cheat death. This is a welcome change. Rogues SHOULD have to pvp for pvp gear, and go through the same hell everyone else does of grinding out their welfare epics to get started. Bravo, Blizz. This could be just the appropriate nerf that rogues needed. Now if only stuns could get diminished returns so a pair of rogues can't stunlock forever... but that's another debate altogether...
