Star Wars Insider share the secrets it learned from SWTOR designer James Ohlen {Massively}

Oct 26th 2010 7:49PM Didn't Palaptine age because of the lighting feedback against Mace Windu? I've never read any of the books but it seems like the movies, no matter how bad, are kind of the final say on lore.

Aventurine: MMORPGs are not casual games {Massively}

Jun 29th 2010 6:57PM First off WoW did innovate. They built on ALOT of what EQ did. They took it to the next step, it wasn't just polish. What WoW has over the new breed of MMOs is polish but let's not forget that started with innovation.

Secondly they aren't saying that casuals don't play their game. They are saying that the casual gamer doesn't play MMOs because of the time invest. Sure if you compare the cutting edge raiding guild to the average MMO player they play less and could be considered casual, but then if you compare that same casual person to someone who plays wii once a week or maybe a game of MW a week they aren't casual anymore.

Aventurine: MMORPGs are not casual games {Massively}

Jun 29th 2010 6:42PM RAWR Massively posted something on a game I don't like must slam it!

Seriously? I played DF at launch and the game wasn't for me, I played for a month. However this interview is pretty spot on. MMOs aren't casual, they do have a larger investment than most games. Casual is subjective though.

GOA hands over WAR EU to Mythic {Massively}

Jun 25th 2010 4:51PM During this lull in the SC2 beta process I ended up going back to Warhammer Online after nearly 12 months off to play with some friends. I was actually really surprised at how much the game has improved. Sure it's not perfect, but it is probably one of the most polished MMOs out now. The early builds of WAR burned far to many consumers to really rebound from such a fall from grace but the game is fun/good now.

If WAR did go F2P with a micro transaction store I would probably never pick it back up. Right now I plan on giving Mythic money over the next 6 months even if I don't play everyday when SC2 comes out.

Waging WAR: Patch 1.3.6 and the proverbial DPS-Healer {Massively}

Jun 21st 2010 4:08PM The problem isn't that healers want to DPS. The problem is that Healers are one of the least played classes and when a Healer chooses to DPS he/she then cuts the amount of healing down more.

The WP/DoK atleast had the right intention of healing through DPS. On my Shaman if I choose to do any sort of more than laughable damage I have to forgo healing, thus preventing my pure DPS allies on my realm from reaching their potential.

The amount of DPS a healer can put out to the amount of DPS they can assist someone else put out makes you a bad for not healing on a... Healer. The Zealot/RP tree's are all over the place and would allow for more "optimization" if they were focused but then I get this feeling that people would complain about being forced into the "best" spec.

THQ says Warhammer 40K MMO doesn't need a million subscribers {Massively}

May 6th 2010 12:17PM I'm glad someone is learning. Aim small, and work from there.

Warhammer 40K is probably one of the best IP's ever created. Blizzard "borrowed" from it for a reason, it's amazing. I agree Dan Abnett and also Ben Counter should write some story archs. Dan just wrote the script for the 40k movie that is suppose to be in "pre-production".

Bioware confirms 2011 SWTOR release {Massively}

Jan 12th 2010 5:02PM I think Blizzard is more of a factor in the release date than anything.

Spring 2011 will be a lull in WoW and the perfect time to launch a new MMO.

Rumor: Blizzard's next MMO to be an MMOFPS {Massively}

Jan 8th 2010 5:48PM World of World of Warcraft anyone?

Onion scooped this 1 1/2 years ago.

Will Blizzard show their next MMO at BlizzCon 2010? {Massively}

Jan 8th 2010 2:12PM Blizzard's next MMO will not be a clone of the WoW business model. Why would they want to steal customers from their own game? Think business here people.

I would expect something no one has yet considered. It has to be completely new or it will be accused of a WoW clone. Blizzard doesn't want to compete against WoW, they have no reason to.

Something like Second Life seems plausable but I don't think it will go that way.
