Apr 3rd 2012 12:49PM Well, the issue with grinding JP is you have to get gear to do that as well. You can start by doing normal 85 dungeons which isn't much jp, and slowly grind into earlier dungeons which are long compared to the twilight randoms. By the time you are getting decent jp, it still is a 375 to 250 conversion. So to do this takes quite a long time. Do you actually think this is a good business model for blizz to get new players? Even returning players have been having a hard time.
The vicious gear is a good option and I do it on new characters, but I find people to make it for me versus paying the outrageous prices on the ah. Even then material costs isn't cheap for a new player.
Apr 3rd 2012 9:04AM I am hoping gear grind is made easier (not in to obtain, but not as frustrating) with the new changes in MoP. I really want to get a premade 90 character and test it out.
Apr 3rd 2012 9:00AM Definitely. I had someone just berate a friend and I because we were at Stables playing horde. We had taken the flag in a four cap (as we were winning earlier) and I was stuck defending it. Instead of rushing of to let it get capped, I stayed there. My friend wanted to play with me so he and I defended that node for the entire game. Near the end, when we were losing, and we had gone from four nodes, to one, back to two, a warrior who was from my server started berating everyone. I stated something and he just started into me, calling me everything you can in the book including the N word repeatedly. What really irritated me was I was top dmg as horde, had 3rd hks and 2nd kbs for both sides and we kept that node the entire game, and that played was close to the bottom and so many deaths versus his hks it wasn't funny. After we got out of the bg and had to deal with him in bg chat, he whispered me a few times and then put me on ignore.
I didn't freak out or yell back at him, but what made me happy was other people started defending me, and pointing out numbers and stating the fact that my friend and I had help stables the entire time, which until the last 300 points of the game was under constant attack. It was because we made sure to do call-outs and keep people off the flag.
it's just sad that a few people who just like to talk trash in chat can ruin the game for so many people. At first you just put them on ignore, but after a while it gets quite old.
Apr 3rd 2012 8:34AM My biggest thing is they need to add better skill ratings and brackets. They need to add a beginners pvp for people to learn, instead of them suffering the same fate as people trying to learn FPS and just getting murdered by the more skilled players. The issue is how do you prevent skilled players from going into the beginner brackets.
I remember playing on my new disc priest in the 10-14 bracket, with boas, best greens I could buy/make without having to spend a fortune, and enchants just so I could survive against other players doing similar or more (such as players cheating the system to get into exp bgs at 10 with their exp turned off, and with all the best possible gear and enchants so they can take advantage of the 1-10 scaling and regen) and having players who didn't do that complaining how we're scaring off new players.
It's a legitimate argument. New players walking in with 200-300 life facing against players with 700-1400 life and one shotting them, what are they suppose to think? Some will want to level so they can do the same, while others might not.
Jul 19th 2011 1:54PM Yet, when a big pvp guild on a server raids Garrosh with the joy of knowing it crashes Kalimdor right before standard raid times, Blizzard hides behind the PvP Server Argument.
Apr 8th 2010 4:04PM Man, this is making me want to switch back to warrior from my dk... I mean I am so excited about DK's finally getting a dedicated tank tree, but now this. I hope the DK preview is just as good...
Apr 6th 2010 11:15PM I have to support other posts that blood has been the superior tanking spec, especially single target, since Ulduar. The increased stamina, Vampiric Blood (especially at the old 20 seconds,) the original and tweaked WotN and the sheer amount of threat you could dump out (especially if you can cast Hysteria on yourself)
Frost has a couple of nice talents, like Frigid Dreadplate and Improved Frost Presence, but the fact you loose a lot of threat, your 1 minute CD is weaker on bosses (stronger on trash but trash isn't what is important) and even the nerfed WotN made blood a better choice. I can't tell you how many times the nerfed WotN saved me on hard boss fights.
I always tell new DK's to go frost due to the two frost talents mentioned above, but once you get gear Blood out performs the other two trees on everything but mass trash pulls, even then if you know what you're doing it just takes some old fashion BC tab tanking to maintain control.
I am glad for the change. A lot of the nerfs to things like IBF, Bone Shield, constant tweaking of our 1/2 minute cd's, all have revolved around the fact shifting a few talents and sacrificing a small amount of dps in pvp could increase your survivability unbelievably.
I mean, I remember when you could pop Bone Shield (original 40%) and IBF (Original 60%) in pvp and be immortal for 10+ seconds. Things like that made it impossible to balance without hurting one aspect of the class. So I welcome the change. People need to quit worrying about which tree is their favorite and hope the class can Tank on par with the others and dps on par with the others without changing abilities or the class drastically every small patch.
P.S. Diseaseless Blood Spec, I will miss you forever. (I miss 0/32/39 as well)
Mar 31st 2010 3:45PM http://www.wowarmory.com/talent-calc.xml?cid=6&tal=0055321530303303200020131350005000000000000000000000000000352300000000000000000000000000
I usually took improve icy touch because of the extra 4.6% damage reduction on melee swings. Of course in many 25 man raid situations, now with 0/17/54 being popular, another dk can bring the extra debuff but I have found counting on another to bring a debuff that is essential to your survival that you can bring yourself can be devastating if that person dies during an encounter.
Also I take subversion because the extra 9% crit on heart strike makes might of mograine's talents more valuable and is more threat.
I never worried about Spell Deflection except back pre 3.1 on tanking 3 Drake Sarth (with a custom blood/unholy build) to survive the amount of damage that encounter delt pre-nerf and in mostly nothing but 213 gear. I always found 3 talents spent in a chance to reduce magic damage, when you have more cool downs at your disposal that you can control like AMS, IBF and VB, you can get more out those three talents elsewhere.
Sudden Doom I dropped for ITT because it wasn't a huge threat increase, especially costing 3 talents for 15% chance of a proc on a ability.
Finally, the last point you can put in hysteria or rune tap. Rune tap at ICC level of gear is a huge health potion every minute, yet hysteria is a lot of threat generation for the beginning of a fight and once threat is established you can drop it on yourself or on another dps like a fury warrior or marks hunter.
Outside of that I love blood. The initial snap aggro for groups was tough but it came down to dropping DnD and spreading your diseases as fast as you could and blood tapping for a blood boil. I wish there was a tanking talent that reduced the cd on blood tap. It also helped tanking as a warrior in BC and learning to Tab-Tank for Blood so I could tab my heartstrikes and get back to my main target if I had some crazy aoe threat generation coming from my DPS during groups.
I miss the old Vampiric Blood, but I understand the nerf. But the Will of the Necropolis tweak makes up for it but it's way to late.
Mar 29th 2010 9:33AM Well, considering how much more story they can tell with what they have done, and they are willing to completely destroy their former content for the sake of story and for the sake of progression of graphics, plus the fact how much they are changing the playstyle of the game since day one, they could keep the game going if they did their cards right. Through multiple expansions and now cataclysm they are finally restructuring trees and coming out with new character customization. Then when you add the fact they have a pretty open system for add-ons, they have a game that can continue as long as they are willing.
Maybe they will have Warcraft 4 coinside with an expansion in the future as well for story reasons, or even with the new battle.net have them integrate some how, unlocking vanity items in WoW as you progress through warcraft and vice versa.
Mar 27th 2010 10:33PM AH! I always thought it Garrosh. It's been forever since I (payed attention) to the quests. Guess I need to redo them.
