Jan 31st 2010 8:57PM Good point BigMU.
Being upfront and actually communicating at the start of a pug goes a long way to making things smoother and having people be more forgiving.
Jan 31st 2010 4:19PM All the Emblem of Triumph vendor's gear and even the Conquest vendor's gear is worth picking up if you can't raid, give or take a few things.
Beyond that, don't be afraid or intimidated to tank heroics with 22k or 24k health. You'll get jackasses complaining and some that want to kick you but every tank had to start somewhere and not everyone has other lvl 80's that can give them a quick jump in gear via craftables.
There's another thing though. The Titansteel Helm and shield are both quality items at the heroic level, same for the Earthguard Ring and Argent Tourny champion's 1hander. If you don't put in the effort to get these (or similar) sorted out then maybe you deserve a small part of the heckling you'll get.
Jan 26th 2010 2:45AM Wheeeeeee now we only have to worry about complex mechanics once per fight and we can go back to mindless lazy mode again! Yay!
Sad they have to make that change but it's slowly becoming more common.
Jan 24th 2010 5:00PM I miss the old instances where you actually had to do more then run headlong into mobs and just dps them all down. I don't think i've seen any CC in all of the 5 mans i've done.
I agree with Tomatketchup too, add some more complex instances. Culling of Strat could have been much more interesting but I really prefer the old Stratholme instance even with the horrid memories of the 45 minute runs.
And no that wasn't a diarrhea joke.
Jan 23rd 2010 9:14PM Something that annoyed me once with the kick rule.
Was just starting a run and someone got disconnected and didn't come back after a decent wait, so someone voted to kick him. It passed and we got a replacement and went on with the instance.
A little way in someone else was acting like a prick and I go to vote to kick him, but that is when I learnt that you can only kick one person per instance (or something similar).
It annoyed the hell out of me and in hindsight I should have asked the leader to kick him though I can't remember if he was the leader or not.

Tanking has changed a lot from what I remember of BC and even pre-BC.
There is no longer CC, there is no longer much more then the tank having to get a hit on every mob and get them all together and still do more threat then the dps can put out.
The last time I saw a sheep or a shackle or any hunter trap of any kind in an instance...was before I picked up WoW again last september.
I don't recall seeing a misdirection or anything of the sort on me in pugs but that could just be me not noticing it, also don't expect anyone to silence or counterspell casters for you to bring them into tanking range.
All these things have aided in many of the DPS wanting to fire as hard and fast and get through the instance quickly which puts more pressure on people learning to tank or heal.
I got a little off topic, but my advice is just to mark one target to dps and make sure things aren't hitting the healer.
Jan 12th 2010 12:17AM I was actually wearing some crafted epics and decent blues on my first 80 before I stepped into any heroic. It's not difficult to do so now but people taking on heroics with a number of greens isn't uncommon.
It's part of what annoys me about Heroics though, the gear is really poor aside from the epic drop at the end. The badges are about all I do it for and soon there won't be too much I need from the vendor from either.
I've never kicked anyone for their gear, but please show us some courtesy and buy a few 100g blues from the AH.
Jan 10th 2010 10:20PM As far as I am aware, all the servers are grouped up in to two bundles. There's the EU server stack for European or close to nations, and the US server stack for the rest of the world.
I play on Oceanic servers myself and they're all linked to the US ones. There's no real language barrier (aside from poor grammar :P ) but it does mean if I can't sleep there is the option of a cross realm random instance and there will be people online in some place in the world for it.
Jan 10th 2010 9:29AM My characters are more then their class. I get attached to them and will play them through just about any nerf...until I eventually lose interest in them for other reasons.
A part of why people stick with a character through a percieved nerf may be gear as well. I don't have the time and can't be that bothered to gear up a character just because the class got a temporary op buff.
Overall Blizzard do pretty well with their balancing act.
