The Care and Feeding of Warriors: A Lament For Arms {WoW}

Feb 6th 2009 4:12PM I feel like its worth noting that other classes, notably rogues, are in the same boat as PvE Arms, and have been for pretty much just as long. We were definitely a bit op in beta, got the nerfbat, and ever since we've been pulling up the rear on single target encounters, even in the best gear available.

TLDR: things will get fixed, and pve arms is far from the only spec suffering at the moment.

Why healing meters suck {WoW}

Jan 8th 2009 9:49PM Healing meters are bad, but not completely useless. A good raid leader (or even a good group member in situations of lesser number) can use the healing meter to a great deal of benefit. The way you use a meter is just different, a little more complicated, and requires a lot more individual class, situation, and ability knowledge than it does to get information out of a dps meter.

In other words, to use a healing meter effectively, you need to know what healing abilities each class has for each situation, what each healers assignment was, and what encounter effects are present and how they can be handled. Thats a lot more complicated than a simple differentiation between aoe and single target, the mistake which is often made.

Specifically, a full-featured meter (like recount) can help in the following kinds of situations - healers healing the wrong targets, healers using the wrong abilities (or not using the right ones) to best cope with their assignment, it can also show when healers of similar gear, with the same class and assignment, have large gaps in performance (ie, one of them is watching tv or just generally lazy).

Take home message, healing meters are harder to use, but they are certainly not useless.

Azeroth Security Advisor: WoW is watching you, part 2 {WoW}

May 19th 2008 8:33PM my only comment to this is, first of all, this is all sort of old news

secondly, while i "have nothing to hide" hacks wise, i still have an issue with this. warden prevents most forms of model editing, and makes all of them rather dangerous - i have an ugly character, rogue t6 is ugly, i like to not look at it all the time. get my drift?

The Art of War(craft): Choosing PvP targets part I {WoW}

May 18th 2008 3:57PM anyone aware of a current/working version of the Azaziel's Book of the Dead mod, or one with similar functionality?

Ready Check: Teron Gorefiend {WoW}

May 13th 2008 4:54PM is anyone aware of which bar mods have the functionality to switch pet bars into your primary action bar when they become available (for classes who dont have pets, obviously)

Ask WoW Insider: How do I get off standby? {WoW}

Mar 7th 2008 12:42PM there are a ton of reasons someone gets put on standy

a) way too many of a certain class/spec/role
b) you have been to raids/been in instances with higher ranking members, and shown yourself badly
c) your gear isnt up to snuff

fixing c) and b) is easy - fix your gear, talk to higher ups and convince them to take you with them somewhere besides progression content, etc - you do well and gear up, you get in

fixing a) is hardest, because youre going to have to upgrade your gear (whether its up to snuff or not, because you need to outshine the competition), run things with higher up raiders/leaders, and talk - a lot. get to know your raid and class leader and make them know you are ready to raid. and wait.

Guess the patch 2.4 release date and win! {WoW}

Epic mount price drop rumors {WoW}

Jul 29th 2007 3:17PM money is so easy to get, honestly

not to mention - is it such a bad thing to ask for a handful of items or achievements that not everyone has, that are actually useful - outside of those items attainable only through coordinated group play (raiding)

besides, srsly, who doesnt have epic flying training?
